iPad Games (and Apps) Catch All

Wheeeeeeeee!

Nightfall has released the Martial Law expansion - price for the expansion is 2.99 USD.

EDIT: The price is going to change, so don't buy it yet. Apparently it should be 1.99 USD and there was an error with the upload to Apple

EDIT the SECOND: Everything is fixed.

Nice, I've heard good things.

The feed mechanic helps, cards start to attack specific types (Vamp, Were, Hunter) wounds do more things than just discard for +2 cards per.

A whole host of other cards, when added to Nightfall takes care of one of the more common complaints of the app (lack of variety). All in all, it was worth my 1.99 USD.

EDIT: Martial Law Rulebook PDF

Finished the first set of levels. Very happy with it so far. It's actually a lot closer to an authentic Rayman experience than I expected.

I agree it is fun. Worth the $3 for sure.

I'm really enjoying Dragon Island Blue. It’s giving me a Pokemon fix on iOS. Only $0.99. http://t.co/n6eoacrh

100% every level. A little let down on the difficulty level but still great for 3 bucks.

So The Room has turned out to be a pretty fun puzzle game. You're tasked with opening a box, with lots of tactile puzzle solving required to do so. There's some kind of story giving context for your actions, but so far nothing about it has stuck out to me. The touch controls are really well done, and discovering new things and solving a puzzle are really satisfying, I think mostly because the controls map to performing physical actions on the box.

I played through it yesterday, really enjoyed it. I'm a sucker for puzzles and games like that though. Hopefully Fireproof comes through on the promise of more installments.

I started playing this while watching TV, and thought "this is dumb" within the first couple minutes. Then I played it until my battery went dead.

It didn't grab me, but then again, I've been playing Guardian Cross non-stop since release...

Sorry

I've been playing Gameloft's Wild Blood recently, the graphics look good as this is a unreal engine-powered game, any good reviews for it?

I've been waiting for this one, I thought it would never drop.

AppShopper is pleased to alert you of a Wish List Price Drop ($9.99 -> $4.99) for the “Adobe Photoshop Touch” App.

iTunes: http://appshopper.com/link/adobe-pho...

How does it compare to iPhoto or any of the other photo-retouching apps out there? Any ideas?

There is limited compatibility with Desktop Photoshop, which is my main interest. Desktop can import Touch files, with the correct plug-in, versions CS5 and above. Unfortunately, it opens PSD files as flattened images, so it looks like it would only support a 'one way work flow' in that regard.

Apart from that, it seems to have all the power of it's bigger brother. Whipping through the tutorials, it seems like you can do quite a lot, with an optimised touch interface. For example, deep etching an object form the background involves 'colouring in' the area you want to keep, then colouring in the area you don't, and it then makes an educated subtraction.

No layer masks (that I've found yet) so it looks like it is a destructive edit, but again, may be good if traveling, or time 'sitting down' is hard to come by.

Depending on what you want to do, if the other Apps are doing it, there may not be anything of value here. Sorry if I'm waffling, past midnight here.

EDIT:
If you just want some instagram style effects, or simply cropping of files, then Snapseed, PhotoPal, or Vintique would most likely meet your needs, and have been on special before for that magical 99c price point.

Is that the new F2P game that was announced a while back?

Just curious, but if you've been playing it, why do you want reviews? Are you unsure whether you like it? Are you not liking it and want to know if you're missing something? Just wondering.

Didn't you know reviews are just for confirming your own opinions?

Isn't that what Google does anyway?

Is it real time or turn based? Couldn't find that from their site.

It is real time, although from what I have read you are only managing four mechs at a time so perhaps not quite as frantic as some RTS games.

I would love to see something like the old Amiga classic Mechforce on the ipad.

Is it good? $10 is pretty steep for an iOS game.

The reviews I've seen haven't been great: too basic and simple.

I'd got the names mixed up and thought it was going to be a port of Mechcommander, which would have been amazing.

Rebuild: a post-apocalyptic strategy game is on sale for $0.99 - I'm tempted, I love zombies has anyone heard anything good/bad about this game?

It's one of the best I've played. It's a city builder/resource management type with zombies.

For instance:

In the first couple of turns, I usually look to reclaim farms + houses, and get more people. Apartment complexes are usually really really risky early on. After that I try to run down and claim a hospital and a reactor for scientists to do some research, and scavenge everything, which usually starts netting me weapons, animal companions, and tools.

Throughout all of this, events are happening (Joe the brothel owner comes through with his girls. Give them food? (Yes gives happiness at the cost of food)) (Eveyln wants to preach in the local church about how Zombies are the next stage for humans. Do you let her?) and the like. with so many different buildings and so few people, you have to prioritize, and then zombie hordes will attack at random times which is where a lot of injuries happen (thus the hospital). Spread too fast, and the hordes will generally break through, too slowly, and you'll be overrun.

There was a version on Kongregate that was free if you want to try it. I'll try to dig the link out.

EDIT: AHA! Found it. I don't know how updated it is. The iPad version just got seasons, more events and new endings.

I ended up coughing up the $0.99 for Rebuild. I'm enjoying it so far, though only just starting through the tutorial. But, for the price, it was already worth it to me
