Torchlight 2 Catch-All

I'd like a Steam group invite as well please!

Edit: Steam name is Simpilot

Can someone with multiple steam accounts on the same lan give it a try without logging in? Even turning off windows firewall didn't help. Trying reboot.

You can only respec your last 3 points (which seems very limiting).

I guess there's always the potential for a mod, but I wonder how that will impact multiplayer.

Previews I've read or watched have also suggested that the respec NPC is very, very expensive. Almost prohibitively so.

I've played about 20 minutes and... hmm. Not really grabbing me yet.

Part of what bothers me a little is the permanent skill choice thing. Systems like this give me analysis paralysis; Diablo 3's skill system seems like a huge step forward in comparison. I'd really rather not have to take a detour to check the internet about which skills are garbage and which are good, I'd rather just be able to test everything myself.

Some of us appreciate not being able to respec, or at least not on a whim. D3 got boring after a month whereas we played D2 for 10 years....

Oh Em Gee...

Nobody told me the "ghost fisherman" mission people have been mentioning was...

Spoiler:

a loving homage to The Goonies!

OFFICIALLY better than Diablo 3

PLayed about an hour. Oh yes, this is awesome!

But now I have an embarrassment of riches! In the past couple of weeks, I have picked up Torchlight 2, Formula One 2012, Borderlands 2, Spec Ops The Line, Madden 13 and NCAA Football 13.

How in the world can I play all of these?

Seems we're going through content at the same rate right now. I loved that.

Ok. I'm digging it!

Is there a goojer approved naming conventions for Internet games? Like naming your game "GWJ something-or-other"?

It would be nice to have any easy way to find like-minded goojers for multiplayer. Something better then the Google doc we have for D3.

Hooray, the non-steam version works!

And yay for auto-looting gold! Whew.

I wonder how much longer it'll be until gold no longer even drops. You kill something, you get money for it.

Yup. I stumbled upon it in beta and was very pleased.

Why not just cut out the middleman? Imagine, loot is just scattered everywhere! But for every piece you pick up you lose some health.

Good idea!

Why do I get the feeling you guys are poking fun at me? Honestly, I got really tired of having to scoot around just right to hammer E trying to loot a buck in BL2.

No, you're totally right, it's a great addition. The only thing I don't like about it is it doesn't work on money from a chest or on random wads of cash.

Unless it's just pre-loading the whole 1.4gb every time I start Steam? It claims that's how much I downloaded in the current downloads window. That would suck for people (like me) with up/down caps per month... :?

I haven't really looked at it closely, but I feel this is the case for a lot of stuff on Steam (that it just redownloads the whole darned thing when "patching").

Kind of off-topic now that everyone is actually playing but if you don't organize your file structure/patch system around the way Steam handles patches it is really easy to end up patching the entire game's contents. Jonathan Blow wrote about dealing with that in The Witness's blog.

*comes up for air* Hey guys, this game is pretty good. *back in it*

I am amazed at my willpower, having turned off the game after only a couple of hours and the first 10 XP levels. Just felled the big blond dude who climbed from the well, with all the endless skeletons crowding around us. Loving the Engineer so far.

So good. There's been absolutely nothing that would be even remotely in my way of having a good time with the game. I've been surprised by a great deal of unique-feeling little details and encounters (like the phase dimension with the spider nests), which is something the first game didn't really have.

No, I couldn't log on, but didn't really expect to, either, plus I'm not interested in the MP in the least.

I've been playing Diablo 2 lately (for the first time!), and there's a lot of the same DNA here, except condensed and modernized in the sense that Torchlight 2 really goes out of its way to make sure you're having fun.

Hmmmm, how odd. Now that the game's out no one cares whether the game is too late, too early, coming out in summer, conflicting with another game or that they can't fit it into their gaming schedule.

Lets see if this can replace my GW2 addiction.

Or it's already been said and moot now. I doubt my three copies will see much play time if any currently.

Game good. Sleep needed.

My only problem is that there are too many passive skills. I love passive skills because they are easy. Unfortunately I tend to miss really interesting active skills in games. I also try to min/max too much but with no real level cap I think I can get over that.

No one but you.

Since you brought it up...

It's rather convenient that they promised summer of 2012 earlier this year and released it on the last (or next to last) day of summer.

Also, the only game, for me, that this is conflicting with, is dark souls, since gw2 and bl2 were flops.

How is that rather convenient? Sounds like it was meeting their deadline to me.

Played an hour and a half. Getting a bit too much of Torchlight 1 vibe to make me want to stay in the game for too long at one time. Probably need to play some coop.

I'd like a steam group invite, please.

Good luck, I can't even conenct to the server :p

Ok. Local lan play. If you are unable to see or be seen on the lan, and you're on wifi, and you have vmware installed, try disabling the vmware network adapter(s). Kablamicus!
