Borderlands 2 Catch-All

I don't mind if they eventually fix it as long as they don't go super crazy Blizzard-style and start banning people who did it, because honestly, that sounds way more appealing than grinding in The Dust.

Just for a bit. Once you get up to a certain % for a thing, it drops to .4 and presumably will continue to drop.

You can get a 'legit' second key by linking your account with the Gearbox 'Shift' thingy.

I don't even know what that is.

I think it's under the extras menu? Give them an e-mail, create a password and it pops in a new key for you.

I haven't done it, but I ran into people who had. I wish people wouldn't start messing with stuff. When people modded files in the first game, it wrecked public play. I had a save file completely destroyed.

If you mod your files, please don't play with other people. I haven't run into any issues yet, fortunately. I was given a few weapons from someone using that cheat, but I'm not going to accept anything from now on. It sort of breaks the game.

On a brighter note, should we start a no-spoiler-tag spoiler thread? More people will be finishing the game soon and it would be nice to have a short thread to chat about stuff. Also, it might be nice to chat about side quests without spoiling them.

I somehow ended up with 3 and didn't edit anything. I did link with shift though.

Will try

Spoiler:

and report back tomorrow with my new pistols.

Thanks.

Once you get to Sanctuary, you can spend Eridian to buy SDU upgrades (slots for backpack and bank, and ammo capacities) from the Black Market near Moxxi's.

Well, whether people want to use it or not, here is a spoiler thread. If you want to, Happytime Harry, you can update this thread's OP with a link. I imagine my post here will get buried quickly.

It might be worth pointing out that they start putting Eridian in lockers and other places where they usually put ammo and 2 dollar stacks. As someone who often skips those places if I don't need ammo or I'm not broke, I was quite surprised.

I have to open all the containers I find. Borderlands takes me so long to play.

I have found it in skag and bullymong piles as well.

Yeah, I know SDU upgrades are coming, I just want to be able to buy them NOW.

Re: Golden Keys - My big complaint about the system is that it's both limited use and tied to the random loot generating system. Sure you're guaranteed some level of quality, but nothing beyond that. As people already said, they're getting double pistols or relics or maybe some weapon type they hate using.

I think a much better system would have been to make golden keys somehow discoverable in the game. I hate that it's tied to whatever external factor Gearbox decides to promote today. If it were something like the badass tokens, that would be awesome, because then there's more incentive to explore the game, instead of signing up for yet another mailing list.

The Golden Keys really aren't that great. You find lots of purple weapons of varying rarity by the time you get to the end of the game. You aren't going to find an orange weapon in that chest. I haven't opened mine yet, but by now, I imagine I can find better loot elsewhere. Certainly by the time you get to 50, you're going to be finding much better stuff. That chest won't be too worthwhile.

I wouldn't sweat it.

You can get it from kills as well. It seems to be just like any other commodity just more rare.

If anyone is looking for a cheap vid card upgrade, just put the GTX660 in, I have a GTX470 that works fine, just be on lower vid settings.

In order to Shift, you need a Gearbox. amirite?!?!

I went to the website this week, and it's not really anything yet. All they have up is a page to link your gamer tags (Steam/PSN/XBL) and that's it. Presumably it will be a newsletter/info hub type of thing.

It's not modding, it's changing a value in a plain-text .ini file. So, maybe it's more accurate to say that it's no more modding than manually adjusting your resolution.

tuffalobuffalo wrote:

Early on at least, that's the truth. I opened the big chest by accident the first time, on purpose the second, and doubt I'll do it again. It's more fun to find stuff in the wild.

There's probably a reason it's not well hidden and encrypted. There's also a reason they never patched the exploit to get into The Armory in Borderlands 1. Well, that's good to know. I imagine people are already effing with hex editors trying to mod stuff. That's what I'm really worried about.

tuffalobuffalo made a reasonable request to preserve the purity of his game, and I respect that enough to join him in co-op without his permission and sneak filthy cheat guns into normal-looking piles of loot so he can never trust anything he finds ever again.

Crhis, I get what you mean about the falling. I think in most games once you're falling your velocity appears constant. Because the gravity is light on Pandora (I think they did say it was a fraction of Earth's gravity in the first game) there is time to notice how your speed increases with the effect of the physics.

I've ditched higher powered sniper rifles to stick with the one that gives my zer0 a +50% melee combat. Especially because I can now do a bayonet charge.

If that's what it takes to get you out of your lobster cave, go ahead. *sigh*

Gah! Tannhauser'd. That'll learn me to keep up with the reading part of this internet thing.

I'm kind of sick of hearing Zer0 make Yugioh references.

I'm a certified monocle-wearing highbrow kinda guy, but the sign on the bandit outhouse the read, "Crapper Only, No Fapping" got a genuine guffaw out of me.

They've got some nice references in there. I killed one bandit once and heard him go, "Laaag!" with his last breath.

I'm seriously glad I'm not the only one who gets a little queasy when I jump/fall from somewhere high.

Jumping off the ice cliff down to the frozen bay in the first hour of the game really did a number on me.

LobsterMobster wrote:

Zer0's comments are really the only thing I don't like about the game so far. Does he need to give a monologue about how he's so mysterious and his methods are inscrutable every time he casts a decoy? Kind of ruins the mysterious stranger motif if he's boasting about it all the time.
