Magicka Catch-All

75% off Magicka series on Steam. Still worth picking up, even with no guarantee you'll have buddies to play it with?

I'd vote yes. While playing with someone else is definitely a much better experience, there is still a lot of entertainment value playing solo.

Buy an extra copy for your buddies!

Also, speaking for myself, I am sure many of us in the Magicka steam group would be happy to play. Arena mode never gets old.

Good to see it still humming along, I have had some of my best (drunk) co-op in this game.

This is what I did. Definitely worth it.

My friends refuse to play it since we had such unmitigated disasters when trying to connect a few times:( its silly good fun multiplayer.

I haven't had any big network problems since the first few big patches. It feels like they've sorted most of it out.

+1

And by still need to finish, I mean have to start completely over since this game is so different I have to relearn it all over again.

I might be interested in trying to finish off the campaign + DLC in October or November. Too much stuff on the plate lately to really try and coordinate a play date until then.

It's still a massive jerk and will kill you dead if you so much as look at it the wrong way

I've had similar problems with this game. Two weeks of no Magick and my co-op buddy and I get smoked by the enemies.

ME: I'll keep stomping them, hmm, gimme a sec here, earth, earth, k, lemme knock them down while you--HEY stop hitting me with lightning!
HIM: No worries I'll just heal--CRAP, I forgot I was wet and killed myself trying to set up the revive spell.

Pretty much sums up the first ten minutes.

I'm once again looking for a few good Vizards to help me finish this game, and maybe the DLC if we're not too burnt out. I've currently got a save about halfway through the original campaign, although I'm willing to restart if anyone wants to start fresh. I've also got a free code for the game (I think it's still valid) from PAX East which is up for grabs to the first non-Coffee Grinder who expresses interest in a PM.

Is any one up for a free copy or looking to finish this off in the next month?

I'm up for it. I never have much time during the week, especially with the timezone issues, but Sunday mornings should work well for me.

A week or two ago I finally fired up Magicka for the first time with my own PAX East code. I'd be interested in playing some co-op on it, although I don't know how much time I can really commit to it. Fortunately once I'm back from vacation time zone coordination won't be a problem

I am always up for some Magicka. Send me an invite whenever you are getting a game together.

Started playing a new campaign with a friend of mine. This game is pretty old but it STILL has so many problems, jeez. We got to chapter 3 and realized I couldn't use meteor storm because he didn't preorder like I did. So I quit out and tried to host a campaign from my own save which is chapter 11. But it wouldn't let me select a chapter, the only one I could load was chapter 1. And then when I tried to quit out of the lobby I got stuck! The exit button did nothing! I had to get HIM to make a game, join that one and then quit just to get back to the main menu.

This is the only game where I put up with such things.

I'm looking for 3 other people to do some 4-player campaign coop. I never did finish the original adventure and I have all of the DLCs like Vietnam.

Anyone interested?

Yes! I've been meaning to finish this up but I haven't had the desire lately to try and get a group of people together for it.

Alright well that's 2 of us so far. Two player coop is a lot more fun than soloing but 4 player is just ridiculous fun.

If you see me online, invite me, I just reinstalled that game.

I am not good at all.. and can't press the right keys.. so we might get a few laughs out of that.

I'm up for a game. I never got the chance to play it after getting it. Send me an IM anytime.

I'd be in too. I'm not great at it, but I've always had fun playing this. Let's set up a time.

I have tomorrow off so we might be able to do something. I have all of you friended already so I'll check my list when I have time.

EDIT: Okay I asked Manach and he said the evening would work best for him around about 9-12pm on weekdays. I can easily fit this in my schedule so we just need to pick days where 4 of us can meet up.

Is that EST or PST? My best availability is 9:30PM - 11:30 PM EST.

Count me in as someone who is basically always up for Magicka. Shoot me a Steam invite and if I can play, I will reply almost immediately.

It's est. I would be around your time shop.

Ok cool. Tamren's location says Vancouver so I wanted to make sure.

Monday and Wednesday evenings are generally pretty good for me. Tuesdays and Thursdays are a little awkward, but I can still probably make it after 10 those nights.

I'll be around at 9pm EST today so I'll check Steam about that time and see if we can get a game going.

Had a lot of fun partying with Atras and 4dSwiss last night. When played alone this game is a lot of fun, but put multiple people together and you get utter chaos. In fact the game actually gets HARDER, because tactics that would normally work well when used alone act in unintended ways. That boulder you threw skips off an enemy and tumbles into your friend, or lightning arcs back and hits other wizards.

In fact on many occasions we would just die instantly with barely any idea of how it happened! One of the two, I forget who, had a particular fondness for healing mines. Which worked out great most of the time, but every now and then something would touch off a matter-antimatter reaction that would detonate in a massive radius and blast us all into orbit. Good times.

I've been trying out the many different robe types. Some of them are definitely not suited for coop campaign play, especially those that slow you down. The space marine suit for instance makes you really tough, but forces you to walk everywhere. In arena survival or PVP that's okay because you rarely travel off the same screen, but when adventuring you have to travel a lot.
