Torchlight 2 Catch-All

I would read a review or watch a gameplay video for a $10 game before buying it. You can't possibly be so far disconnected from the world to not be able to understand that $20 is a significant amount of money for some people to spend on luxuries.

Ouch! Crap, I am an elitist, socialist, secret muslim, 1%er, anti-american, game snob now.

Sounds about right.

Can I get an invite to the steam group? My account name is IHateDRM75. Thanks in advanced!

After the second re-pre-load of the last few hundred megs, I paused it until release.

Note, if you want to play your copy of TL2 online, you'll need a runic account and to link your copy with it. If you're on steam this means you need to link your steam account, and by the looks of things it'll have a separate friends list. You can do this now at https://secure.runicgames.com/

Me too please. This ol' Diablo junkie is quietly optimistic right now.

I was asked to import my Steam friend list into Runic's friend list.

Will there be 2 separates network like Dungeon Defender? (Steam and Gamespy)

I think there has to be as TL2 isn't just on steam, the other option being to link your CD-key from a perfect world (and I assume retail) copy.

edit: Not two separate online networks, runic online is the one network, just different ways to buy it and this is how they deal with it.

Steam group invite please??

Really hoping it's like Spiral Knights, where there's an in-game friends list, but if you're friends with people on Steam, it just imports them into the in-game list.

Same here! Just took the plunge. Now i have to figure out what to do with this copy of Torchlight 1.

I went through all the steps on the Runic site but none of my Steam Friends show up. According to Steam 36 friends already own it. Would it be because nobody else registered on the site yet?

I did the same, and also made sure that my Steam profile was public. No friends were added. I was able to add you manually (if you're imbiginjapan on Runic, too); However, I'd really rather use the Steam import feature.

EDIT: Just tried again, and I got TWO Steam friends listed in my Runic friends list. Maybe it only works for folks who have their Steam and Runic accounts linked already.

was I the one who was added. I just linked mine up about a half hour ago.

5 people just showed up in the list for me. It is either significantly slower than the advertised 5-20 minutes or it needs to be "goosed" in some fashion to kick in.
It's a bit confusing how this sync works. I assume it only finds people who have already registered on Runic and Steam. That could be a pain, though, if any time some new Steam friend gets the everyone else has to refresh their list to see them.

I have two friends!!

Bah mine's still stuck on pre-loading, but I only had some time to restart steam for lunch. Gotta head out now, and going to a baseball game tonight, so I'll check again around 11pm and maybe it will be fixed.

You and Garion were the two.

I humbly request a steam group invite at the earliest convenience.

Mine says Play. Yup, installing DirectX crap.

Anyone have a link to download the client or know an alternative? I don't know if it's behind security or not since their website is fubar. That's not surprising though, it's not like they could predict how many people pre-ordered and would want to download it today.

I've only played about 20min so far and already I can feel I'm going to like this a lot.

Do I have to do the runic account thing for LAN coop?

No.

And I'm back fishing.

I created a lan game. Wife cant see it.
Wife created a lan game. I cant see it.

There were not any windows firewall popups.

Also I cant log in at secure.runicgames.com to manage my account. Arg.

I've played about 20 minutes and... hmm. Not really grabbing me yet.

Part of what bothers me a little is the permanent skill choice thing. Systems like this give me analysis paralysis; Diablo 3's skill system seems like a huge step forward in comparison. I'd really rather not have to take a detour to check the internet about which skills are garbage and which are good, I'd rather just be able to test everything myself.

Its moddable. Someone will mod in a respec potion like they did for the first game.

There is a respec NPC in the town.
