And Tate got fined $21k for that legal block dirty hit last night.

I still think it was legal, but I figured he'd get fined. Especially since news of the fine will take away from talk about the refs.

I still think the hit was legal as well. I find the arguments for the hit's fine to be... unpersuasive.

I mean, if you can't cleanly hit a guy just because he doesn't see you, the next logical step is banning pulling guards and trap plays.

Yeah that is crap.

Every linemen will have blinders on...

Just because there was a fine doesnt make it an illegal hit.. That's just the new NFL and their ridiculous "Player Safety" nonsense.

If they truly cared about player safety they would bring back the real refs.

They care about safety, just not nearly as much as money.

I find that whole spin just about as much nonsense as the whole concept of Player Safety... These refs are screwing up basic things like spotting the ball correctly and getting certain penalties marked off properly vs College Rules.. anything safety related IMO is just about the exact same as the real refs.. some flags are thrown others arent.. the whole concept from the get-go is just inane to begin with and has been nothing but a huge grey area.

They cant control these players and the players know it. You can see the escalation bubbling in these games. You could make a fair argument that as a result guys are winding each other up which results in more borderline type of hits/scrums/etc kind of bullsh*t going on.

The real refs diffuse the players by having their respect in knowing how to call a game by laying the smack down once players start scrumming/unnecessary roughness type stuff.

So we can agree that the league cares about player safety when it can fine the players for money then?

Not only can they not control the players, but more importantly the players don't respect them. So they're trying even harder to take advantage of the refs' incompetence which is leading to tempers flaring. Player safety is mostly definitely compromised right now.

Im must be watching some different football games then... seems just about the same as every year..seems like its getting overblown just a tad..

Why the hell was that camera guy sitting on the sideline? Rolle could have killed that guy if he was 6 inches to the right.
