Pony Up for Ponies - Achieved!

Maybe, given the pain we have inflicted on our dear Rabbit with Sparkle Ponies, we allow him the pleasure of selecting his 'own' source material for the second slot?

Kind of like his dream article, and we help fund that dream...

You know, just to even things out kharmically. :nicekiss:

+1 One PITA is funny; two is mean. We're not mean 'round these here parts.

Hedge, just a quick question for you.

I don't want to burden you with any additional logistic shenanigans, so if this was our primary source of donation for the drive, do we still email Elysium to let him know the amount, etc so we get our forum icons updated, or are you handling that also?

I'm not actually asking you to do this for us, I just want to make sure I won't be doubling up on the emails he'll receive if you've already got that system in place.

I sent Certis an email. Wasn't sure what to do otherwise.

Hedge sent me an email with forum names of all the donors. We'll be updating our lists accordingly

I still need to send in my donation but by the time I saw the logistics for this had been worked out it was fully funded. Are we shooting for round two still?

My suggestion for a second article is booze. (Perhaps just Gin for specifics). And I think with the pain he shall suffer with ponies, it would be a nice change of pace. I know Discovery is doing a show on american history & its relationship with booze (FYI: The pilgrims drank a lot of beer - even the kids). Maybe booze and making games mix?

$10 sent to add to the cause. I still think a article on how Sparkle Ponies changed his life after playing consistently for 3 months would make an excellent follow-up piece.

Indeed - already sent along the usernames and amounts for everyone who donated as of yesterday. I've also sent in the $500 to seal the first article.

Let's come up with a bunch of ideas today, and then maybe someone can aggregate that list and we can vote tomorrow?

Donation received. This thing is now official.

You all have done a beautiful thing today. And, to be honest, I can actually imagine a really good article coming out of this.

...

I'm just glad as hell I don't have to write it.

I agree, although I think we should put him on something a little more offbeat or somewhat out of his comfort zone that isn't regarded to be terrible. Which is why I was suggesting something like Mario or Epic Mickey 2/Kingdom Hearts HD (which probably won't arrive stateside until late next year at the earliest)/TWEWY Solo Remix instead of say I Wanna Be The Guy or Desert Bus.

Some thoughts:

I'd be genuinely interested in hearing his take on Binding of Isaac but I'd rather not subject him to that if he finds it objectionable on content/religious subtexts. Plus I think that game has been profiled enough this year.

A Day Z article might be interesting as well but I think that's seen a lot of coverage in the last few months as well.

Something Wii U related might be cool, but from the podcast it doesn't sound like he's going to be getting one immediately and I think it would be bad of us to force him to spend 3/5ths of the article cost on the requisite hardware.

Pinball or board game related articles might be interesting. I don't have any particulars in mind though.

Still think that suggestion about writing for dying print mags is a good one

This one has probably the most actual editorial merit. Especially given the state of the industry overall.

But, Rabbit will write that article anyway! For free! lol

Plus it's one he keenly feels, as he had a direct hand in killing many of them himself. So... win!

It would basically be a eulogy. Come to think of it though, a "where are they now?" section on where all these editors went after would be a cool aspect of it too.

Unfortunately, I have been unable to determine the purchase price of a bear-proof suit for rabbit to wear when interviewing said editors. I also suspect that there still may be restraining orders by various print magazines which are still active.

I finally got around to sending the donation that I originally pledged. Thank you, Hedgewizard! I hope it's not too late to be a pain.

A review of Windows ME?
Y'know, after using it for a month.

$210 to go on article 2.

I'm a +1 on the dying of print mags piece.

I haven't donated yet. Need to get on that, but I have no idea what I'd want for the other article.

I like the dying of the print mags idea as well.

So my two votes are:

+1 implosion of Elemental
+1 dying of print mags

DISREGARD

I'd vote for this if we get two articles. I can't help but think of it as a VH1 Where Are They Now type deal.

Guys, just an FYI -- the second article may already be taken. I need to confirm.

USURPED! I suggest someone on this thread start a war.

I will, of course, be happy to back you at the usual interest rates.

To whomever Rabbit bribed to get an easy way out, I'm sure we can collectively double what he's offering

Elysium wrote:

When you get a chance you might want to update the donation page to show the first one was already locked up.

Is there any amount we can pay to make Sands go on a date with Moe?

Regardless of this, I have to be involved in some fashion.

Donation sent!

I'm a bit sad to see the weiner bomb go.

You can keep it, if you really want to!

Nah. It's ok. I'll take the company car.

Rabbit ponied up $500 himself to prevent more pain and aggravation.
