I want to be part of this. Missed it first time around and really looking forward to it!

Could I get a more specific location? I just need a state so I can arrange the pairings.

I am a Georgia homebrewer. Gonna use my first batch of homegrown hops in my next recipe...getting excited!

Just a reminder that there is only six days left to sign up.

If you're on the fence, take a look at some of the pictures from the Beer Exchange 1 thread and you'll decide to join.

If you're on the fence you need to climb down. Fences can be dangerous- especially after the Goodjer American Beer Exchange.

Think I'm gonna throw my name in the ring for this one. I live in CT so what immediately comes to mind is Hooker Irish Red. Actually, any of the Hooker beers are really good and deserve to be tried by many. Then we have the real crap (203 and 860) which are local brews and also our area codes.

Hurray! An even number are in.

Oh hey, I totally forgot to write up the pairings over the weekend.

They are now posted in the first page and I'm going to PM everybody their partner's name.

Be sure to message your partner to get their address and beer likes and dislikes

Two days since I announced the pairings and not a peep out of anybody?

That's slightly better.

My beer should be going out this weekend. I have a couple ideas of what I want to send but gotta make sure I get it right

I have some beer hunting and gathering to do. I'll be on vacation in Oregon next week, so it'll probably be after that when I get to mail my stuff.

We've been in contact--beers should be heading out soon.

Clarkatello, nice! Glad to be paied with someone who not only brews their own beer, but grows hops as well. Maine offers a wide rage of beer. Here's what oilypenguin received last go around.

Let me know your likes and dislikes. I'd have to say I'm not really into lambic/fruity beers. Hearty ales, robust lagers, aspirin-like danky imperial XXXX IPAs and velvety stouts are my favorites.

Haven't heard from Clarkatello. I've PM'd along with the above forum message, but have yet to hear back. Cause for concern? Any suggestions as to how and get in touch with him/her?

I picked up some great stuff.

I have all of mine to send to Conejote, just waiting for it to cool down here before I send it. It's nearly October and it's going to be almost 90 here tomorrow.

Yeah, got mine all lined up here for Oily, waiting for the fall to get a little closer. I think he'll be pleased, i tried one the other night i'd never had but was recommended, from a small brewery in Poulsbo. So good.

Am I the only one really nervous about shipping beer? I'm not sure why, I just have to have a good story when I ship it. Not worried about packing it though, I am going to buy a ton of bubblewrap and newspaper :0

It's just fine to ship via UPS. I'm not sure about Fedex and I'm pretty sure it's not okay to ship USPS. Just make sure you pack it well enough that it is okay with falling 5 feet. At UPS routing centers, the conveyer belt system has regular 4-5 foot drops. Fedex doesn't have this issue, so they're better for shipping fragile stuff.

I guess I'm lucky; I can ship directly from work. Our UPS delivery/pick-up guy is pretty easy going. It also helps that we ship/receive liquids almost daily.

Don't take it to a UPS store. Take it to a UPS drop-off. It isn't illegal to ship beer via UPS or Fed-Ex but does seem to be against their policy.

Basically, if they find out they may dispose of it or send it back to you. So ship it via a drop-off site. When I went to the UPS store last time the guy was a real ass about it. Gave me the third degree and wanted me to open the package. Not all of them will be like that but mine was. I dropped it off at a drug store that took shipments. I pre-packaged everything and added baggies of cereal to help hide the sound of sloshing liquid. I never tried with FedEx and likely won't since the drugstore is only a few blocks away.

I followed this guide for packaging. I used plastic grocery bags rather than zip-locs and bubble wrap. I added the cereal after being rejected the first attempt at the ups store.

It isn't illegal unless you try the USPS. Absolutely do not try shipping via the US Postal Service. UPS and FedEx both ship beer/wine but have a policy to only ship from licensed distributors.

Even if you take it to a UPS store rather than drop off, just pay for and get the labels at UPS.com. Then they won't ask any questions.

This is what I've always done and haven't had any problems.

My shipment is ready to go. I just have to make labels, tape it up and drop it off. Hopefully all before tomorrow as I'll be out of town all weekend.

Hurray, I've got beer!

wow, nice choices, Tuffalo!

Yay, everything arrived safely! Enjoy!

Mmm, saw that Black Butte Porter birthday beer at the store the other day. Didn't pick one up, though I really was tempted.

Had a really good dinner at the Deschutes brewpub in Bend last week. Bailed Out IRA on tap was yumm.

I'm actually not sure that I'm a fan of this year's anninversary Black Butte. I sent it anyways because it's interesting. Anyways, I wrote some thoughts in a note with my shipment, and I'm excited to have a discussion about it with Norfair later on whether he like it or not.

Might take me a little bit to get to it.

I did finally tape yours up and print labels for it. I'll have to drop it off on my way home from work today so it should be on it's way to you soon.
