Current favourite word?

What?! I can't believe it's not "butyraceous!"

formication

Just because it makes me giggle like a twelve year old who's been looking for dirty words in the dictionary.

Burglarious, and perhaps also the derivative adjective, burglariously. And that's both for the actual meaning (see various state laws involving "possession of burglarious instruments"), as well as rampantly abusing it, as in "Remember the job on the Magruder place?" "Dude, that sh*t was burglarious!"

Today my favourite word is Cadence. Everything about that word flicks all the awesome switches in my head, the sound of it, the meaning of it, the feeling it evokes.

Dichotomy

Love the sound of it and it makes you sound clever when you use it.

Inundated

It makes being swamped with paperwork sound pleasant.

If we are allowed real names (moves swiftly on before getting a negative answer) I've been doing a lot of walking recently in Wales and the Peak district and two names stand out:

Windgather Rocks
The Dragon's Back (a hill that does indeed look like a dragon's back)

I've been using "nonplussed" incorrectly for ages.

Most people do that.

"Maven" is the perfect marriage of uncommon, smart-sounding, and vaguely hip. Love it.

I find truculence quite troublesome.

chicanery , sadly it will probably be a while before I have a legitimate use for this one.

New favorite word. Moochador. A separate humidor or section of cigars you reserve for friends who do not smoke but you may offer one on occasion.

I'm nonplussed by my own misuse of it.

Indubitably

Someone used this on the radio recently. Written down the word looks reasonable but when said out loud it's like one of those ornate plaster ceilings you see in historical buildings. Very nice but a bit over the top.

Indubitably, old chum.

We get all kinds of great words at work thanks to the wacky names of diseases and the drugs used to treat 'em. Two of my recent favourites are "Meliodosis" and "Velcade".

My first thought upon reading that word was "A Mexican professional wrestler who wants to crash on your couch all the time?"

disingenuous
cuticle

Electrowinning.

We make a lot of copper this way.

Extraneous

Merkin. You just can't make this stuff up.

Rhubarb.

Plethora - an excess of something (usually in the medical sense)

I love using this NOT in the medial sense. After his day off, Ian returned to work to find a plethora of bees at his station.

Would you say I have a plethora of pinatas?

Actually more like a bevy of pinatas. Nah, plethora seems to work better with pinatas.

Plethora is great. I never knew it was related to medical stuff in particular.

Escapology.
