Borderlands 2 Catch-All

Having pre-ordered Borderlands from Amazon back in June, I was a little worried to see that it still wasn't available for downloading on my account. It told me to wait four hours, but that was two days ago (as mentioned somewhere upthread). This morning I called Amazon to check if everything was ok, and they confirmed that there was a problem with the order. The helpful CSR on the line cancelled my order, allowing me to order it again. As soon as I did it gave me the option to download and the game key. I duly entered the key into Steam and voila! It's downloading! Rallick is a happy panda.

Hat tip to Amazon's customer service. They're generally awesome!

Huh? What? Is this just digital downloads they are providing codes for?

There's lots of PC games available for digital download on Amazon these days, check out the PC Games download section.

Yes. I know. That's not what I asked. I assume that's what Rallick is talking about, but I'm curious if it's otherwise. :p

Ah, Amazon gives you a Steam key when you pre-order the digital download version of Borderlands 2. Is that what you were asking about?

Are you asking about the code itself? If it is a Steam game, then yes, they provide you with a code to just redeem on Steam. Amazon also allows you to download the games directly from Amazon, however, in my experience if it is a Steam game, Steam will then download the game again when the code is redeemed. I believe that Amazon only has v1.0 game downloads (no patches) available, too.

A lot of games Amazon sells (non-Steamworks) give you the option to buy regular or Steam keys, too. So always look at the options available.

Recent example was Max Payne 3.

I thought he was asking if Amazon only gives a Steam code for the download version? So if you order the box version still have to wait until Tue, no pre-loading allowed.

Yeah, exactly. Figured it was only for digital, but doesn't hurt to ask. Or shouldn't have at least. :p

What Stele said. AFAIK Amazon can't give you the codes for boxed versions, as they'd have to open the wrapping on the box to get at the code.

If I pre-ordered on Steam (it's installed as we speak!), that means I already get the first character DLC, the Mechromancer. How does that work for the season pass? Do the character DLC bits like the Mechromancer count toward the season pass type DLC?

Filthy skimmer is I.

Mechromancer is a separate DLC entirely that you get with preordering or for $9.99 later.

Season pass is content, so additional quest lines to do.

Season pass is for four DLC packs between launch and June 2013, right? Which will be $10 each? I think I'll just hang on to my money and buy them a la carte.

I'm assuming that at least one of the DLC packs is going to be arena garbage that I have no interest in playing. The rest of the DLC I'll be able to get dirt cheap on Steam for way less than the season pass.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. It was unpopular enough last time that I would think they wouldn't do it again... hopefully the GameStop pre-order one is all we see in the arenas.

I took the Gamestop pre-order as a sign that they think people want arenas. And, the most common ad I've seen for the game only features arena gameplay.

While I thought that moxxi dlc was done poorly, I did enjoy the main game arenas quite a bit. So long as they are done that way, I'll be happy.

I can haz invite to BL2 GWJ group? I just noticed I am not a member.

I haven't bought the Season Pass yet, but am thinking about it. My logic goes like this: I bought the base game for $35 or so, and adding $22 more with the coupon still puts it less than a $60 game.

So I'm convincing myself to buy it.

I am right there with you. I ordered the 360 version, but at least I am getting the Vault Hunter edition so the wait is worth it.

invites sent. I think we are all caught up if I missed you let me know.

I think I was missed way back when. Steam ID is http://steamcommunity.com/id/fuzzybu....

Have the people here who ordered from Greenman been getting their codes yet? The confirmation email when I ordered said that the code would be sent "close to the release date" and I'm wondering if I should be concerned.

Supposedly everyone that ordered from GMG should have keys now. Saw it on twitter, but I don't think I ever got the email about the key being added. Didn't really look in my junk folder, as I was on my phone.

I got my email with the key on Sunday.

I didn't get an email, but the key was available when I logged on their website.

I got my key from the Greenman website. I still haven't gotten an email but the key is viewable on the website when you login.

I bought the 4-pack and have a few left if anyone wants to buy them off me. I also need inviting into the group.

To the cadence of Claptrap's, "Please don't shoot, please don't shoot, please don't shoot..."

"I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait!"

Launch trailer!

I'm so excited! And I just can't hide it!

Mmm... Lunch trailer.

T-15 hours!

Ragin I need an invite please
