Steam Green Light

First officially "greenlit" games:

Black Mesa
Cry of Fear
Dream
Heroes & Generals
Kenshi
McPixel
No More Room in Hell
Project Zomboid
Routine
Towns

A pretty good list I think. Glad Project Zomboid got in there at least, those guys deserve to catch a break for once

Indeed. McPixel is another good pick based on what I played of the Ludlum Dare version.

I can only assume the list of nearly 800 games is a little daunting for some, so if you want a more "filtered" experience, here is every game that's received my vote. (Yes, that's 53 games. If I'm a man of my word, I'm out a lot of potential money.)

I estimate that I'm roughly 90% done with the titles currently on Greenlight.

This is obviously super subjective, but at the very least it allows you to skip past the conceptual/pre-pre-pre-alpha/otherwise undesirable submissions, though I admit there might be a couple that will qualify for that second one.

You're damn straight that's a Truck Simulator, sh*t looks amazing.

Grapple and Contrast look particularly interesting to me. Also, I never got around to playing The Stanley Parable for free, so would love a chance to pay $ for it (I'm backwards that way sometimes).

I enjoyed Waking Mars until I got stuck. Hours later, when I couldn't move forward still, I liked it so much less. It was the first point in the game I even got close to stuck- and couldn't make it past it.

Did you try Waking Mars on iOS? I thought that looked really interesting. Is how to progress obscure or something?

Edit: The ones I'm most looking forward to right now (that haven't already been Greenlit) are probably Fly'n, The Stanley Parable, like you, and Project Giana.

I totally up voted Recruits!

It is a squad based top down shooter. If I recall, Alien Swarm only controls a single character in SP. This game gives you a squad and you can drive a tank!

Way cool.

Montas is a survival-horror game with an Amnesia vibe to it. I think it looks very promising. I would have created a thread if I didn’t see this one first.

It will also have Oculus Rift support which is awesome news for nerds like me who pledged for the Kickstarter.

Can't wait!

Yeah, I played it on my phone. Figuring out how to progress wasn't hard at all, it was a series of fun little puzzles/environments to play with. Sometimes the puzzle wasn't even worth thinking about- you could just play to get to the proper threshold. But I hit this one area which I have to assume was pretty far in- I'd be surprised if it wasn't at a smidge before or after the half-way point and I could never figure out what it wanted me to do. I tried searching for a while online for answers, but none the of the answers seemed clear enough and I couldn't get a video.

I like it, but got frustrated enough I deleted it.

The art in Project Giana is gorgeous.

That's a shame. I hope the PC version's price point is low enough that it's worth checking out.

You're not wrong about Project Giana. It's quite the look.

Yup, it's one of my picks too. Hope it makes it. When I'd voted for it, it was only at 2%. Hope it's further than that now.

Pinball Arcade is now on Greenlight: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...

Really surprised Stanley Parable HD had so little love thus far.

They still have quite a few problems with discoverability, as I see it. That, and I believe the amount of people actively checking Greenlight has dropped off considerably after the first 5 or so days. I think the biggest issue is the sheer amount of games already included. It might be deterring people from browsing at all.

The system might be more fluent if they hadn't simply opened the floodgates. Maybe allowed submissions at intervals. However, with what's been said about Greenlight and from Valve themselves, their intention probably is for the developers to do the marketing. And I don't know if that's a mistake or not.

On a related note, I'm actually done. I just finished the last game. I've bookmarked around 20 games that I want to investigate further, and I'll go through my favorites to look for updates and things of that nature, maybe try a few more demos.

Doing a queue here and there has been a nice pastime in the cracks of respite throughout my day.

Are you really? It's a nice little thing, but I don't think that translates to lots of people wanting to get every nice little thing on steam.

Vote now unless you hate fun!

What if I hate fun and like voting, is there an option for me?

I think there is a missed opportunity here. Because the up vote states that you would purchase it on steam. There are probably a lot more games that I would love to see on steam that I might by or definitely would buy in the steam sale frenzy.

So, for me, I am reinterpreting the up vote as a possibly or probably would buy. And also include games I think should be supported even if I probably wouldn't buy it since I am so selective about my purchases.

Not sure if you've looked at Greenlight recently but they changed the UI to say Up Vote = "I would buy this on Steam".

He knows what the new button says, but I guess he's "reinterpreting" it to be "might buy" instead of "would buy."

Regardless, the up vote button is our way of telling Valve that we think the game deserves to be on Steam. So even if I see a game that I may not buy myself, I up-vote it if I feel it deserves to be there.

As someone who purchased Dear Esther, I am suprised- yeah. As much love as the game got- and it got a lot of love- a chance to support the dev with a vote (not even with $) is really surprising to me. All we're talking about is a vote of confidence and interest, not a loosening of purse strings.

There's no price attached to any of these games. As such, it can only mean "might buy." Any other interpretation seems presumptive to me.

Can you no longer see progress bars?

If they're removing them it's probably not a bad thing. They were pretty open prior to launch that they expected the "approval" threshold to be higher than necessary at the start. McPixel got in the first batch and I don't think that got more than 10% of the necessary up votes.

So I've been poking around on this for a while tonight after ignoring it for the past couple of weeks (or however long it's been around). Found a couple of things that look good, but...

1) If you're going to make a pitch, at least learn proper spelling, capitalization and punctuation. If you can't be bothered with that how can I trust anything else you do?

2) At least spring for the few bucks it will cost to licence Fraps or the equivalent. Having a Google ad pop up on your pitch video is at best amusing.

3) If I never see another 2D platformer or tower defense pitch, it will be too soon.

4) Despite the above, there are some really good looking pitches out there that just aren't things I'm interested in. Should I feel bad about not voting for them?

Am I a bad person? ((Wait.. don't answer that...))

I went over the first bunch of greenlit games and I'm very excited with the promise of Heroes & Generals (emphasis on promise). PC FPS that receives commands via mobile strategy meta game sounds super fun to me. Hopefully I'll get into beta and see how it works out.

McPixel is released; first of the greenlit games.

If you are wondering if this is a joke, these guys are seriously sticking to it.
