iPad Games (and Apps) Catch All

If I recall, a lot of the hullabaloo about the ads was from people who bought it prior to the ad-supported price drop. They were [rightfully] upset that they had paid the full price but then had ads slapped in. I'm almost positive I'm not just making that up.

I have Civ Rev on my iPad but haven't loaded it up in a long time. If that is true that is total crap.

So play for a bit and see if the ads are just menu ads or omnipresent.
For science!
Well and because it's been hard for me to find out.

As a public service, I both loaded a save game, and started a new game. In both cases the ad strip disappeared once I was in the game. So there.

Thank you sir!

I have no idea if the game is any good but I bought Fart Cat because I laughed so hard at the trailer. They deserve my 99 cents.

Is this a pass gas and play game?

Infinity Blade II has seen a reduction "FOR A VERY LIMITED TIME" according to the shouty announcement in the Apps description text.

New update in-bound or some sort of IB related announcement on Wednesday?

I also paid full price and if they really pushed it that way, I want my money back. I loath ads and will pay to not have them.
Otherwise I wouldn't even bother with it at all.

I bit on the first Infinity Blade for 99 cents today. I'm not a huge fighter fan but it sure looks pretty in the previews.

It's 'almost' a rhythm game of sorts.

Slash, block and parry to counter the onscreen enemy and the occasional magic rune traced on the screen for bonus damage.

Square Enix just released a new card game called Guardian Cross for both the iPhone and iPad. I only did a little of the tutorial, has a pokemon catch-em-all type of thing to "catch" new cards. You can also upgrade cards with guardian points ( terms may not be 100% accurate ).

Oh, and they have a gimmic where if you get friends to enter your friend code you and your friend will get gifts ( cards or guardian points or something ). So, if you want to enter my friend code it is HI36961

Nice job burying the lead. It's free so I'll give you a free Pikachu.

5th Cell's Run Roo Run is now universal and is currently free for a limited time! Grab it while you can!

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/run-r...

edit: just saw cross-posting in the iPhone thread. Woot!

Google Drive has been updated to actually be functional on the iPad now. Yes, you can now access google documents on the iPad AND edit them on the go. Whodathunk? Probably time to grab it now if you collaborate at all on Google Docs, and have an iPad.

If you use Splashtop Remote at all, it will be asking you to upgrade to Splashtop 2. This is not through the App Store, but via the app itself, which amazes me.

DON'T DO IT!

Half an hour ago, I had an app that allowed me to easily connect to my machines on the home network, and that could connect to my machines if I was on another network using my GMail login. All I paid was what I paid for the app, way back when.

As soon as I updated the app and the streamer, I eagerly went to see the new improvements, only to find that I have to pay £6.99 for the external connectivity now, and £6.99 for the optimised service. And those aren't one time IAPs, but are annual fees.

Even worse, when I try to connect to my laptop from within my home network, it can't. It claims that my laptop can't be found, but I notice the message telling me that I need to pay for the annual subscription pops up immediately; in other words, it isn't even trying. It can see the laptop on the network, but won't even try to connect.

I am really pi**ed off with this. I really liked the app before. I note that the app itself is on sale on the App Store right now; don't be conned, it does absolutely nothing other than tell you to pay more money. Some reviews confirm this, the others must be written by schills.

I wonder if the app is going to force me to upgrade. I don't use it, so I don't really care, but I'll TOFTT.

You should be grandfathered in if you'd had it for a while and paid the old price. You're supposed to get a free lifetime "AAP". Looks like there may be issues right now. It does still allow you to connect to LAN machines though.

It definitely won't work on my network any more.minhave put the newest version of the streamer on all 3 of my machines, rebooted the router, iPad and the machines, nothing.

I'm pretty sure I bought in the first week after it came out on the iPad, and there hasn't been any mention of grandfathering. I'll email them.

That's strange. I haven't used it in awhile but I just tested it now. From the iPad it said I needed to update the streamer but would've let me continue. I went ahead and updated the streamer and now it works fine. This is LAN access, I bought recently with the price drop, and don't have the AAP subscription.

I just fired mine up. I was prompted for an "access anywhere" deal where i could get to my macine via the splash top cloud (or whatever it's called), but once I closed that down, it still let me access my machine via WiFi.

Maybe access anywhere is a new function/feature they are offering.

I don't know, but as soon as mine downloads it looks like we might be down for a pik-et-trois.

EDIT:
Nice little game. 'combat' is like BattleLand HD where you have a deck of fighters, and they square off against another deck of cards, stats against stats, last monster standing wins.

Once Cragmyre and Liquid have had their fill, feel free to use SD11060

Being as you got me hooked, and I've been playing this for most of the morning, I figured I'd gift you the silver slime I just caught in the hunting range...

Enjoy!

Anyone else playing this, friend me up, it's a blast.

So I played a bit today at lunch. I'm liking the game, it is relaxing in a way, well, not necessarily the hunting stage But I don't see me buying any inapp stuff at this time. Hopefully the stuff that comes with the download will be enough to enjoy the game. Too many games get to a point that if you don't buy in the inapp coins ( or whatever they use ) then you can't continue past a certain point.

So it's a F2P CCG by S-E? That bodes ill for my wallet.

Well, you hunt for cards. You go out into the wilds with your tranq gun ( I assume you aren't killing the creatures ) and you have 60 seconds to "catch" as many as you can. There are also other hunting grounds that cost coins but gives you more chances at rare cards/creatures - but you have to buy coins IAP.

As for the card playing aspect of it, you don't really play. You pick your team then they square off against your opponent. Your creature/card will take damage during the combat, and if it goes down to 0 your next card will takes its place. The creatures/cards are refreshed for the next battle.

You can also level up your creature/cards by sacrificing other ones you don't need/want. Colosseum wins ( basically against other players ) can get you magic stones which will let you improve stats and give new abilities to your creatures.

I enjoy watching the battles take place, I find it relaxing, but it definitely won't be for everyone

I spent $2.99 buying 300 coins.

That got me enough for the 'one time only' acces to the rare hunting grounds for 100 coins.

That netted me enough awesome monsters to have a kick arse deck that has earnt me an A + rating in the coliseum, if I keep it there, I get another rare card.

The rare card I got from Cragmyre's code is still serving me well too.

You get bonuses for logging in consecutive days (got another special hunting pass there too) and you get a free hunt each day.

They have rare silver slimes in the hunting area at the moment, that if you jag one, you keep it, and send a friend the same item. On a low level monster, when combined, it will raise you approx three levels in one go. So far, I've found 6 of these throu regular hunting trips.

Great game, I've got my $3 out of it already

I've played it almost non-stop for the last two days on just that one IAP and all monsters are level 6-7 plus.

Well Fart Cat was a waste of a $1. I feel bad that I gave them money for something with such low production values. I could have bought 2/3s of a coffee instead.

Guardian Cross seems interesting, but I'm not liking the lack of control. It's like if you got to pick your 6 Pokemon and then they auto-fight. I think Pokemon is lacking in gameplay so this game is going to have to be really fun in the collecting part to keep going.

I find it relaxing For my Colosseum team I like to put some of my stronger cards in the middle to give my opponents a surprise But you are correct, card combat is about leveling your cards, not about using any abilities. I don't think it will be for most people, but I'm really addicted to it at the moment. I even managed to snag a 5 star card in the special hunting grounds with the special hunting ticket I got from logging in three days in a row.
