NHL 13 (XBOX 360) GWJHL Season - Week 6

Pages

GWJHL has been created and is ready for Goodjers. Once in, please hold off on playing games until we get everyone signed up. I imagine most will not have the game until Tuesday.

Settings
All Star/ Normal
2 weeks schedule
One player per team
5 minute periods (although I think 10 minutes or more might be better, post your preferences)

I've sent invites if you are on my friends list. Otherwise, search for GWJHL or send me a friend request, and I will send you an invite.

Here is the list of dibs on teams:

Jayhawker - St. Louis
Leroyog - Detroit
ColdForged - Carolina
LooseTooth - Edmonton
Boudreaux - Boston
Mr. Green - Montreal
TheCounselor - Buffalo
Magnus - Toronto
Willhouse4078 - Tampa Bay
PsychoKillerZ - Sharks
B Dog - Islanders
CptDomano - Blackhawks

So after spending some time wit the GM Connected hub, I cannot find an option to invite players. It let me send invites as part of the set-up process, but now there isn't a clear way to do it.

I won't be able to get to the game until at least Friday due to a business trip. Just an FYI.

I should have my copy today, but I might not be home to play it tonight.

Mine will be here I will get signed up

I found the league and claimed the Islanders. Just waiting for commissioner acceptance.

I hope they do something about the lag in the GM Connected menus. It took forever just to click through all the teams.

EDIT: Oh, and for those that have an iOS device, they've released the companion app. Apparently you can manage some aspects of your GM Connected team through the app.

Five of us have signed up to the league, so far. Just reminder, wait to play game until we settle on who al is in. It still looks like I can't send invites after the initial creation. So you have to search for GWJHL.

I'm in for the Blackhawks

I would say 7 minute periods. To me seems like a decent amount of time not to long or to short

I'm okay with that.

Just a heads up on how this GM Connected mode is supposed to work.

The league is set for two weeks. That mean you can play all of your games that is on your schedule over the next two weeks of your team's schedule. Next to the team will be an icon showing if that is a human or a CPU. There is no requirement to play them in order. So get your CPU games in sooner, and t hen hit up your Goodjer opponent for an online match when it works for both of you.

I will come up with an expected roll date for each period of games. I can roll sooner, or take longer if some teams have an inordinate amount of games versus other Goodjers which can longer to get in. If things drag, I will get a bit stricter on roll dates.

It would be nice if we could roll through two weeks of games in one week. With just five guys in, my slate of games for the first two weeks is just five, and they are all CPU games. That should not be hard to get in. But as we add guys, that might turn into three human games, and that would be a bit much for a week. We will see how it goes and adjust schedules.

The only option is fr 82 games. I don't have strong preference for whether we try to get the season done faster or if we take a more leisurely pace. Between HUT, Season Mode, Be a Pro and OTP, there are more than enough ways to enjoy the game if we are waiting on guys to get games in. But we don't want to the league to lag to much, as guys will soon move on and drop out.

Trades and free agency are in this mode. I have to approve all transactions. We may get to test just how smart this GM Brain is, as it is supposed to give the CPU the power to make good trades.

I'm as new to this as all of you, and open to changing things that ren't working. That might mean longer or shorter periods, higher or lower difficulty, or alteration to how we roll the league.

At this point, I'd like to see folks that want top play sign up within a week or so. It's understandable that it might take some time to get the game and get signed up. I'll look here to get feel for when we have enough guys ready to go. Even if we start up without you you can still jump in. I am just making sure guys don't play the CPU in the first week when a Goodjer is about to sign up for that team.

Another thing I did was set it to have only one player per team. You can actually have 6 players per team, and do this as OTP. But that's not what this league is about. We can definitely revisit this idea, though.

Anybody mind if I just control a be a pro skater?

I, for one, would prefer the difficulty at Pro than All-Star. Won't matter, of course, for human vs. human games, but it'll make my CPU games more fun.

Also, do we know if it's default sliders only or if the commish can set sliders for the league?

Nobody gives a sh... errr damn! I was looking forward to play with you Brian, that blows!

I requested the Wings.

I think I was able to get Tampa already I had a lot of problems with the early release version. I will check tonight or in the morning just to make sure.

Looks good! We have 7 Western Conf. & 8 Eastern Conf. Equal parts Human/CPU opponents for everyone. Let the games begin!

I can't get to my Xbox right now, but I will boot whoever took the Wings, and get them back in with another team. Sorry.

It doesn't tell me what team people are picking when I accept them. I figured folks would take who they signed up for.

I think you have to approve it. When I selected them it said there were 0/1 people on it.

Yeah, I have to approve all join requests. I will do that later this evening. I thought someone was squatting.

I've claimed the Habs!

What have I done...

I really like the game.

Also, I'm going to be out of town on my honeymoon (or otherwise unavailable) from Wednesday, September 19 through October 4 or so. If my games can be simmed, great. If not, then boot me and I'll rejoin when I get back.

So I tried to look for the GWJHL league last night and completely failed. Is it under GM Connected? I tried going into that to search for it and got an error message: "The current gamer profile does not have the correct permissions to access this feature" or something like that. No idea what's going on there.

I sent you a Live friend request Jayhawker, so if that gives you a way to invite me in maybe that will work.

I got the same error message initially. After a bit of research, it turns out that this is an issue with EA, online play and Xbox Privacy Settings.

Here's the fix that worked for me: From the Xbox dashboard, go to Settings > Privacy Settings and set your Voice and Text to Everyone.

Well, of course, that's obvious. Why didn't I think of that? (/sarcasm)

Thanks for the tip, I'll give that a shot tonight.

When it comes to EA, I'm now accustomed to the arcane. In this case, I immediately headed to Google and had an answer in a matter of minutes.

Hope it works for you, as well.

Is it me or is passing the puck actually easier in real life?

LMAO! It is not just you

Passing isn't that difficult, assuming you have a clear lane. If there's a defender in the way, however, it's probably not going to get through without some controller wizardry.

Okay, I put in for my slot in the league and took Boston. At least, I think I did. I don't have anything showing up under My Leagues in GM Connected yet. Maybe since things are still getting set up?

Jay hawker just has too approve you and you're set.

Has anyone started a HUT yet. I didn't buy the season pass, but man, I got a decent starter pack.

Hurricanes checking in. Any funny business and I send Semin around to play bongos on your heads!
