Recommend me a gaming keyboard

If anybody was interested in the Coolermaster boards but didn't seem them available, Newegg has all three models in now. The blue/brown switch models are 79.99 and the red switch model is 89.99.

Blue
Brown
Red

I grabbed the blue switch one off Amazon for $63.

I just dug around on Amazon for the Brown and Red boards. The brown switch board is on Amazon but shipped by someone else and for $100.

They do have the red switch model for the same price though, so that's at least probably better shipping prices for most people.

Thanks for the heads up, I may have to treat myself to one of these next paycheck!

Monoprice is having their 10th anniversary sale, and Saturday (Aug 4) will be offering 40% off of gaming items in their store, which means their Cherry keyboards can be had for pretty reasonable prices.

Backlit

Regular

This sale only applies on August 4, so you'll have to wait until then, but it's worth checking out.

You could even leave out "ergonomic", and it's still hard to find a decent backlit mechanical keyboard with media keys that don't use some kind of modifier like "Fn".

I'm very very pleased with my das keyboard pro s. Can't believe I waited this long to get one!

I finally replaced my ibm keyboard with this one a couple years ago. Rock solid and feels awesome.

No kidding, I never got an email from them but then in the last week I've gotten two emails a day.

Do any of the big box stores in the US carry good mechanical keyboards to try out? I've been looking to upgrade my keyboard forever and am willing to invest, but everything I read says it will be a very different feel vs. standard membrane keyboard that I've used forever. Would definitely like to try out the various Cherry switches before I throw down any money.

Our local Best Buy usually has the Razer boards in stock. All the various BlackWidow models are mechanical.

Ha:

What's that? Madcatz massively overdoing every possible aspect of something?

Truly shocking

*Also... not mechanical.

Who has room for all of that sh*t?

Also:

I'm so getting 2 of those

Where can I get ONE job with your kind of income?

Part of me thinks that he's nowhere near as rich as we all think he is, but makes ~20% over median income for wherever he lives, rents a studio apartment and drives a tiny econo-box, like a Civic DX or base model Corolla.

You know, what I really, really want is a Model M with a Windows key and N-key rollover. Unicomp still makes keyboards that are almost Model Ms, but they have the same crappy rollover that the ancient ones do. Sigh.

After days of researching illuminated mechanical keyboards: reading reviews, watching box openings, comparing prices, etc..., I've narrowed the choices down to two. I will be either the Corsair Vengeance K90 or the Tesoro Durandal Ultimate G1NL, which is basically the Max Keyboard Nighthawk-X9 with more of a "Gamer" looking design & Cherry Brown Keys instead of Red. It's also $20 cheaper than the Nighthawk.

Decisions, Decisions

What you don't want a Ducky Shine Year of the Dragon?

*Only suggesting it for the amusement provided by the sticker shock that will inevitably hit those who google that.

I'll make room for that sh*t! That looks glorious! Would go well with my R.A.T 7.
I see myself spending the $300+ on a keyboard.

Oh and what's all the hubub about mechanical keyboards? I hate that clickityclack! Will it help me cast faster?
Will it improve my WPM? I'm already a slow typer so who cares?
Will it improve my standing in the gaming community?

With the STRIKE7 I will LOOK awesome! I won't play any better but I will look amazing doing so! That's what I'm looking for. I'm a gaming geek and a gadget geek. THAT is who that keyboard is for and I'd sell my son's bike to get one!

Good find. I'd been eyeing the Cooler Master Storm, but the Tesoro may win me over.

Groan: The keyboard in that pic looks like a model m, a mechanical keyboard.

I laughed.

Logitech enters the mechanical game with the G710+. Sounds like with the features I've been waiting on, namely backlight and with good media controls. MX Browns, but it sounds like they've quietened them a bit.

Anandtech review.

So they're finally catching the big mechanical wave... Looks like a pretty nice entry. Only six macro keys seems stingy next to the 18 of my Corsair K90, but I doubt I would miss them. More importantly, I agree with the reviewer that Red switches are preferable to Brown for the purposes of gaming, coming completely from experience. As long as you're confident that Brown is what you want, go for it!

I didn't say anything about it because nobody else here would ever have ordered one anyway... But I bought a Ducky Year of the Dragon board. Tenkeyless, mx reds, backlit, media shortcuts, customizable backlight patterns, etc. It's ridiculous but I'm loving it. Both my Leopold boards are now spares
