Rocksmith Catch All

DLC Day

Dobie Gray - "Drift Away" Ch, C, B
Mountain - "Mississippi Queen" C, B
David Bowie - "The Man Who Sold the World" S, Ch, B

I might just pick this up.. I was expecting it would have had a price drop though.

You're still getting more content now than you would have at launch. What you think of that depends on the interest you may or may not have in the content. The new boxes all contain the bass add-on and still cost $80. The original game was $80 plus $30 more for the bass expansion. So, if the bass stuff interests you can see it as the game having dropped to $50 and you're paying $30 for the bass add-on. Either way I think it's a hell of a deal. There are some UI issues and questionable design decisions, but at its core it is borderline miraculous.

Pretty sure the game plus bass dlc bundle isn't out yet. I thought that was in October but I honestly haven't paid much attention.

Easy enough to just buy the game & then buy the DLC, though

Assuming you can find the game somewhere for $50 at this point. Otherwise you're blowing 30 bucks extra. I didn't realize the new retail boxes weren't out yet. I find it highly likely that when they do any remaining old retail stock will get discounted if it remains on shelves.

Oh yeah, it's down to $42 at Amazon, and the bass-included rerelease will be going back up in price so I guess it's a wash.

Ok, I picked it up. I'm hoping this is what finally gets me to learn to play guitar.

So far, seems like it does a good job of easing you into it.. although before I knew it I was out of my league.

Will this teach me how to do Barre Chords? Eventually I want to play metal WvW

Well congrats! That was quick. Do you live inside a Gamestop? :p

The game has barre & power chords. There's technique challenges for them too.

Stick with it even if it seems like you're getting piled on. It will scale back if it has to... play the crap out of the riff repeater, with the new update you can lock the Accelerator mode into a certain speed and difficulty level which is HUGE. In the end success still takes practice, Rocksmith just makes that practice more palatable. Always think of it as more of a practice tool than a full-on Gaming Experience.

Absolutely. Practicing guitar by yourself, depending on what you're playing, can be fairly tedious and boring. All you hear is the guitar part, there's often no rhythm backup, and it gets old pretty fast. Practicing guitar with Rocksmith is like practicing with a band. If you're struggling the game simplifies your guitar part, gives you a groove and makes it a lot more fun.

On a side note, I can't get enough of the Black Keys songs. Gold on the Ceiling might be my favorite song to play in the entire library, although Just Got To Be is a close second. I have noticed, though, that some of the tablature in Just Got To Be is clearly wrong.

How did I not know this game existed?!? I now need to buy myself a guitar and bass!!

Edit: Are there any Rush tracks available? I want to get my Gedy on

On disc

DLC

But no, no Rush unfortunately.

So far so good.. I really like how it gradually adds difficulty. Playing the hell out of In Bloom, starting to get some power chords in.

I don't LOVE the playlist, but so far lots of fun.

To get people more excited about Bass:

Do you think [/i]I can play this by the weekend?

First hint for the 9/18 DLC is out:

This hit anthem sparked an important political/music industry debate when it made the PMRC's "Filthy 15" http://ow.ly/i/Vrrp

My guess is that it's "We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister. Could it be a 80's hair metal pack? That would be awesome.

Is DLC the only way the bass expansion is available? Or is it being sold on newer discs? Also, if I already have a bass, what additional hardware would I need for this game to work on my existing 360? (Thanks in advance - I'll search online for this info in the meantime too)

It's being sold on discs, but not until next month, and at full $60 or so price, I think.

If you already have a bass, you'll just need the Rocksmith cable, which is bundled with the game.

Thanks, all!

Ooh, an 80s hair metal pack might be enough to get me off my ass and back into this.

So, I just lost a half hour watching 80s hair metal videos on YouTube.

Are we getting an 80s hair metal pack after all?

9/18 DLC Hint #2: The vocalist on this hit ballad was formerly in another band that we released 1 DLC song from in 2011

Don't know what this refers to, but ballad could be 80s hair metal for sure.

My guess:

David Coverdale was in Deep Purple, by which they released Smoke on the Water in November 2011.

I also really don't care for it in the slightest.

Are they releasing Keytar DLC?

That would be sweet as hell. I'd probably just use a normal MIDI keyboard though.

That would kick ass. I've got some leather leopard print chaps that are just gathering dust, waiting for their moment to shine again.

Yeah I got some white spandex pants, black muscle shirt, and red sleeveless jacket somewhere. Might need to lose a few pounds first though...

The red headband should still fit though.

I was joking about the leather chaps.

About them being leopard print, or about them gathering dust?
