I love when GMs bash their players in public.

I thought I was being diplomatic in this one. I've said much worse things publicly.

:)

Baltimore ranks as the biggest loser, saying goodbye to Alberto Sanchez, Elias Hickman, and bringing in Kade Allen, a player who had an atrocious -10 VORP last season.

Hickman had a fantastic year last year and I won't take that away from him. So did Sanchez. But I couldn't afford their old asses. Being surrounded by greatness allowed them to play great.

Kade Allen was brought in as a backup. I'm relying on youth in center field this year. We'll see how much of a loser I am.

But, yeah, didn't have a great catcher to replace Sanchez with.

HELP!

I'm traveling for the weekend, and didn't realize that I've never actually put the league file on my laptop. Can someone PM me the address to download the league file so I can submit my team updates?

Awright, new file!

Vancouver is 5-7 and feeling kind of down about itself at the moment, Mostly because our bullpen has a 1-3, 11.81 ERA-sized hole in it named Paul Carter (last four game:, 4 IP, 11 H, 7 ER, but hey! Six strikeouts!).

After seeing how Atlanta did in the first week, I'm a little scared to see the results on the new file!

Swept by the Baltimore.

Ahead of Vancouver (for now at least)

Edit: oooh, new icon!

New file! Back on the happy side of .500.

Early-season notes:

Is Nate Bradley having a bounce-back-year? He's on pace for a monster season, although I think we can safely assume he won't get 300+ hits.

Dallas out of the gates hot at 15-4. The league's lowest team ERA at 2.73 helps.

Miami's Herman Cherry already has 10 HRs. Will he make a run at the single-season record?

Las Vegas may be looking at another season of abject futility. Raleigh Brown may be the kind of guy who ends up in Pitcher of the Year contention despite having a 8-22 record.

So far, Denver pitching: really good.

So far, Denver batting: Jesus, these guys cannot find a damn hit. A bit early to be delving into the minors, but, damn, these guys are bad.

Wow. Atlanta's pitching has somehow turned to sh*t.

I also can't quite figure out why we're losing so much; individually, most of the players are doing reasonably well, and I'm 3rd for defensive efficiency, so it's not like my team is just giving up runs due to poor defense.

This is probably not news to anyone, but I found my team lives and dies with the pitching. The offensive numbers are fun to look at, but don't seem to matter nearly as much.

That said, my AAA phenom 1B Fred Snyder, who I believed used to sang in the B-52's, had enough of bus traveling and is getting called up to the show. If anyone is looking for a right-handed bat that will net you probably 20 HR this season, talk to me about Chris Howard.

Looks like Pred took over Portland. Do we have a new owner in our midst?

mwahahahahaah *taps fingers together*

...Actually, check that evil "mwahahahaah"...Apparently everyone on Portland is unhappy or just flat out mad. I guess I didn't stop to think about morale when picking a team . This should be an interesting freshman season for me!

...and by "interesting" I mean totally effed.

Those millionaire pikers are just pissed off because they aren't winning.
Just win a few games and everything will be honky dory.

Or you can just click on the 'Buy everyone on the roster a gold watch' button, that works too.

New file! Another good week in Vancouver, we're hitting HRs like it's going out of style. Although not as good as Miami, who is averaging two a game right now.

Denver. 9 HRs. 4th in Runs Scored in the Northern League. Smallball FTW. Also a ludicrous 2.59 team ERA.

Yeah, if we can just get some more hitting, we might not be too bad.

So, is there anything I should really be changing with my team? I mean, for right now, it doesn't seem like there's much to really do aside from set lineups and then just pray my guys don't poop the bed. I check my minor league teams as well, but don't really see any need to switch anything right now. Just want to make sure I'm not missing something.

That's really about all I'm doing right now too. Except I keep having to clean poop off the bed.

Not much to do in-season. Make sure your minors are moving guys where they need to be (if you are managing that stuff). Move guys on and off the DL as needed. Maybe tweak batting orders and lineups. But yeah, once the season starts you are kind of locked in.

I browse the Free Agent list and Waiver Wire from time to time.

Okay, cool..Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything Thanks!

I-N-J-U-R-I-E-S!

Gah!

New file! Brooklyn, I bailed you out RE: Jason McDowell but remember before you Waive and DFA a guy, veterans can REFUSE demotion to the minors, so while you may want that 34-year-old veteran whatever off your active roster, if he's got enough time served, he can simply refuse to be demoted to AAA.

New file! The first year player draft pool has been revealed! Who will the #1 draft pick be this year, and will he be for real? (Last year's #1 pick, Ed O'Donnell is playing Short-Season A ball for San Francisco's organization, where he has shown flashes of the potential that SF said was worth $6M.)

Some Names to Watch:

Francisco Alvarado, 2B: Alright, so the asking price is almost certainly his agent's idea ($9M), but the kid could be exceptional. We're talking a potential .330 hitter who could swipe 60+ stolen bases a year with an OBP well north of .400. But $9M? For a 19-year-old who still has several years between him and the majors? We may see him go unsigned and head off to college.

Arthur Collins, C: We've got a soft spot for people who have the tools above the neck, if not neccessarily below, and Collins is in that category. While he's a guaranteed first-rounder, he doesn't have any huge, flashy skills at the plate, nor will he wow anyone defensively. But you won't find a smarter baseball mind, a harder worker, or a better leader in the draft. If baseball doesn't work out, the kid's got a future as a manager.

Mike Hansen, SP: It's unfair to call someone "for real" when they've never pitched a day in their career, but we think Hansen is the real deal. He won't blow it by hitters, his stuff tops out at 96 mph, but he throws some absolutely filthy stuff, with movement and pinpoint control. Moreover, at 22, he could be Major-League ready by September. If he's not taken No. 1, he'll be taken No. 2, bank on it.

Hey, quick question for everyone. What's the date in-game for the new file? The last file I got said the date was 5/4/2014. There seems to be some sort of issue with me uploading my team file to the FTP. Mainly, it doesn't seem to be working, even though it's telling me it is.

So, just so that I understand the process:

1. Click "Download New League File"
2. Do changes to team (lineups, minor leagues, etc)
3. Click "Export Team via FTP"
4. Wait for new file to become available

Yeah? I mean, I'm not missing a step or anything right?

Yeah, you've got it right. If I remember correctly Pred might need to send you something. Seems like when we get new owners they all go through this and I can't for the life of me remember what causes that.

Bwahahahaahaahaaahaha! I asked Edgardo Abreu what he was thinking about as far as an extension goes and he wants a 6 year deal averaging $39 mil a season. Lol! You've GOT to be kidding me. I'd be paying him just shy of $50 mil in the final year of the contract.

Awww, I want that pitcher!

Okay, cool--I'll do a little reading on the online manual and poke around some forums to see if I can't find something. Thanks!

Where is the 'lockout' option in this game?

If we all start colluding on player contracts, will there be a congressional hearing?
