SC2 Pro Tournament Discussion

Scarlett v HuK! Go!

Not even close. Huk's play looked really outdated.

Insur won 2-1 and knocked Fitzy down to the loser's bracket

On the other hand Insur's probably about to get smacked around pretty good by Scarlett so no biggie.

The WCS Brackets for anyone interested in keeping track of the matches that are going unaired.

*Thorzain has tonsillitis and won't be competing in Raleigh

*Sheth just played an absolutely amazing game 2 against Puma to tie their series 1-1. Already some really great games coming out of Raleigh.

*E-Sports Federation associated players are still refusing to compete in OSL despite KESPA's statement that they would join the next GSL. The ESF wants KESPA to allow their players to participate in all GSL events both upcoming like GSL Season 4 and also Season 5 and everything afterward. This is the ESF teams and GOM being smart and realizing that the language of KESPA's initial response only put them on the line for one tournament with no provisions made for either the upcoming GSL Season 4 or any GSL tournament after Season 5.

This will leave KESPA hanging in the wind and they'll have OnGameNet yelling at them pretty constantly I think, because this leaves them without 8 players from the round of 16 in the tournament they're already in the middle of.

If KESPA doesn't stop screwing around after this then I'd say nothing's going to get them to stop and the Korean scene is in big trouble.

*Scarlett wins the WCS NA tournament final 2-0 over Vibe. Crushed the qualifier and then took the final of the end tournament. Won $24,000

Scarlett just completely dominated.

I wish I'd been able to see her play more this weekend, although I understand why she thinks it makes more sense to focus on one competition at a time instead of taking on the stress of competing in both WCS and MLG matches simultaneously. I look forward to seeing how she does in Shanghai.

Trimaster knocked MarineKing out of the winner's bracket.

It's like he's destined to upset at least one person every MLG now

I can't wrap my head around how good Taeja is. How is that possible? Decision making of Nestea, macro and strategy variety of MVP, aggression and multitasking of MMA and overall solidness of Bomber all in one player. Damn.

Super fun semi-final between STC and Leenock.

I don't know enough about STC's TvP to know who makes a better matchup for IMFirst in the grand final.

*Leenock goes down 3-1 in a BO7, and then comes back to win 3 in a row and get himself into the grand final.

Which, IIRC, also makes him the 11th SC2 player to earn over $100,000 in prize money.

Well. Leenock is still pretty much a beast.

Yeah, First doesn't seem to have any of the answers for Leenock's kind of standard for him aggressive early game.

OMG. Red stream cut off, switched to blue stream, game was over. :X

Didn't miss anything. Was a super silly thing where both players tried to mindgame a little bit and First ended up on top. Nothing exciting.

Also, you were just too impatient. Red stream never actually stopped broadcasting, it just lost the game feed. Game feed came back about fifteen seconds later

Kespa folded and will participate already in GSL season 4. I'm sure they will screw GOM over as soon as possible, but for now they had to play ball.

Decided to check out the latest group of Up & Down matches. Clicked the VOD link.

It shows 18 matches on the little selector below the actual video window.

GSL Season 4 groups!

IMAGE(http://i.imgur.com/Bbi9I.png)

Here's who I think will win each group:
A - Seed
B - Symbol
C - MarineKing
D - Genius
E - MVP
F - Squirtle
G - NesTEa
H - DRG

Some of those groups are nuts

I doubt it will happen, but I'll be hoping Jaedong crushes MC and MKP. Don't care about curious.

Also...

Dear MaNa,

Welcome to Code S.

I bet MKP will choke
He has always had nerve issues and playing Jaedong won't help with that

Hehe. Poor guy.

Watching Suppy's stream right now. He keeps hitting Destiny on the ladder. Keeps owning him pretty hard in the first 11 minutes or so. It's getting more and more amusing the more it happens.

*Awww, no more fun. Destiny ragequit his stream

*GSTL started this morning with NSHoseo vs LG-IM

Really good match so far

*Stephano signed with EG.

Their video announcement and both parody of Liquid Rising and also willingness to poke fun at themselves a bit was, I thought, pretty great.

Scarlett took out HerO 2-1 in the RSL. Not bad (although HerO did have to deal with worse lag). I hope there'll be a video of the match up somewhere, I just missed watching the stream.

That was InControl at his best.

Indeed it was. I miss State of the Game

I want to remind people that NASL Season 4 is LIVE now.

http://www.nasl.tv/

It's on five nights a week, Wednesday through Sunday.

It looks like Ret vs HuK is starting soon!

EditL Direct link to the twitch.tv stream. http://www.twitch.tv/nasls4

Vortix looked pretty helpless against Stephano in the Winner's finals. Will be surprising if he's managed to figure out how to fix that in the last couple hours

EG Curse? Pfft, Stephano spits on such notions.

What exactly is the deal with it?

JP tweeted that it was officially dead, until they brought it back. Basically it's on indefinite hiatus until JP finishes moving, figuring out life after MLG, and everyone elses schedules get on track.

*Maru vs Effort in round 2 of GSL Code A is a pretty great match and Maru pulls off some micro that is, I think, perhaps the most impressive we've seen from anybody in a long while.

If Rain vs MVP was a Queens of the Stone Age song, it would be Sick, Sick, Sick.

Agreed. Was a great match.

Life/Taeja less so, but I'm happy with the result.

I still think Life is one of the most weirdly underrated players in Korea.

Slayers is now officially disbanded.
