Hooked on this song from Amanda Palmer's newly released album:

Feeling nostalgic....

I should have never left Austin!

The Raveonettes have a new album out today.

There's a full album preview up on Rolling Stone that I'm listening to right now. IIRC, you have the Zune pass thing, so you probably don't need it.

I should probably mention that The Helio Sequence: Negotiations officially came out today. I'm still loving it. This is probably my favorite song on the album at the moment.

I'll just leave this here:

They're long gone but I still love The Hippos

The full Double Dragon Neon soundtrack is available to stream and download. It's the best thing to listen to at work ever. I'm so pumped!!! Once I get my running mp3 headphones back from being replaced, this is going straight onto them.

There's a street near my house named "Paulina" (they pronounce it "puh-lie-nuh" around here for some reason). Every time my wife and I pass it, I can't help but sing this.

Jam of the moment. PICK IT UP!

Thanks Radical! I'm back on my ska-ish kick, btw.

See, now I would start singing this.

Love the olde tymey piano solo in that song.

Well this band came out with an album not too long ago. You'll like it if you're into Interpol, Joy Division, etc.

DIIV - ''Doused''

Anyone into Periphery? Great progressive djent band...you might need to give Spencer's vocals a few to grow on you (both harsh and clean). Great electronic smatterings throughout as well. Bulb's a big gamer, you'll find FF-influenced tinkering all over the place.

Here's a full stream of the new album, which I really enjoy (not sure how long Sumerian Records intends to keep it around):

Here's their video for Make Total Destroy:

I have that album and totally love it.

Thirds on the DIIV love. Saw them open for Wild Nothing, and they stole the show -- took what was definitely an '80s sound on the record, and brought it into the '90s, increasing the the energy and noise considerably without losing any of the sense of melody. Zachary Cole Smith is a great guitarist, and he and the rest of his band look like babies on stage.

(Actually, I was really disappointed in the latest Wild Nothing record, Nocture -- it feels pretty bloodless, and live the songs paled next to the tracks from Gemini, which is one of my favourite records of recent years.)

Anyhow, I wanted to share this song that I caught at the end of the credits for Blank City, an enjoyable documentary about the No Wave scene in NYC. It starts at 2:44 in this video... I loved it so much, I hunted down a copy of the original 7" from an online dealer in France (it's not available on CD or in mp3 form). The catch? I don't even have a record player!

My roommate has me hooked on the new Bloc Party. Mmmmm... crunchy.

Gold Guns Girls by Metric. I ran across this song while playing Borderlands 2 and it seemed to fit perfectly.

Taking it back to the 90's

....And that is totally Maya Rudolph in the green shirt! Didn't realize she was ever in a band--always thought she was an actress.

Yup she was their touring keyboardist. I don't know if she was ever on any of the albums.

Ah, the Rentals! A glorious amalgamation of Weezer and That Dog.

Speaking of mixing up the three to make something just as awesome:

Any shoegazer fans out there? Just came across this band.

I like it. Reminds me of Slowdive.

More Haden triplets love:
