Planetside 2 Catch-All

Oh well, I hope my crash reports are providing useful information to the developers.

Also, I probably just violated the NDA.

There is no NDA. It went away a few days ago.

Weapon lock is their excessive tking solution. You can fire any weapon or any weapon on a vehicle for hours it seems. It was fine last night.

Once I found out that I had separate sensitivity for vehicles, I was owning the sky. Dogfights are so much better and I can maneuver so much easier. I have no idea why the default is so low. I got so many points with the scythe and galaxy spawns. The liberator is a bit of a tough nut to crack. In order to get a ton of point you need to have a good bomber and a lot of people spotting on the ground.

I actually dont think I will be needing a joystick.

Add me to the pile of beta-wanters. I've been playing the Firefall beta off and on and the trouble I have right now is a lack of purpose. (That'll probably be improved with updates but for now . . .) Being drafted into an army of clones, handed a rifle and pointed toward an enemy base seems like purpose enough to me. Simple, immediate objectives. Instead of asking what to do all I have to ask is how.

Also tanks. And jets. And power armor.

If this image is real, sounds fair to me:

I want a unique decal so I can distinguish myself in battle. And an meaningless "Founder" title.

That way I can have everybody complaining to me about Pay to Win.

(It reminds me of the days of LPB/HPB).

I'll pay to win.
GroanBadger don't care

No need to just look at the picture: you can go right to the website.

edit: Having not received a beta invite yet, that offer is super tempting.

Nevermind. I stand corrected.

I might spring for this. Especially since I just talked myself out of a $60 purchase on my lunch break. $40 doesn't seem so bad.

Okay, it's only money after all . . .

I wonder if my application for a beta key is still valid after I buy in? It would be nice to have an extra to share.

was giving a 404 earlier.
sweet

I've just enabled myself.

If lots of people have it.. is it *really* exclusive?!

Spoiler:

Me wantee!

Same. Can't this thing download any faster?

I have money to burn, free time, and a decent internet. Someone convince me not to buy my way in and instead be patient. (also have a really good computer so running it should be no problem....)

Edit: Staring at the buy page....

Its an early beta. They are far from ready to release, and IMNSHO shouldn't be taking money for this, yet. The devs show no fear of making constant sweeping changes to what is in the game, add new bugs faster than they add new content, and there are lots of parts still to be added.

Other than that, can't think of a reason to avoid the game at this point. As long as those points won't bother you, click away.

Did anyone make an outfit on East 01, Vanu, yet?

Yeah I really want to play but I can't bring myself to spend that money, when I could wait and buy xcom instead. Just give me a friggen beta key already....

Are outfits even functional yet? I didn't see anything in the latest patch notes.

Still waiting for this to go open beta, now that the NDA is dropped they might as well.. unless they are terrified of a pop increase.

That $40 deal is a pretty good deal, considering it includes $40 worth of Station Cash. They're not really taking money for the game, they're just getting people to buy spacebucks and giving out a bunch of stuff in return!

Am I doing some wrong with my install? Maybe I'm just not starting it up enough but every time I try to run the beta it goes through a 4GB "Install" which I assume includes some downloading... does it re-download the whole thing every time something gets changed in the beta? I'd love to play more, but buy the time its done installing I've kind of lost my desire to play especially since most of my play time is

1) Spend 10 minutes finding something to do
2) Die within 2 minutes
3) Yell at screen
4) Repeat

I'd like to find a way to solve both the "Install" problem and my horrible gaming ability.

What exactly can you buy with Station Cash? Now, and upon the game's release?

You can buy temporary 24 hr perks, vehicle weapons, infantry weapons and aesthetic stuff. So lots and lots of things. You can also earn that stuff without paying a dime but of course it will take time.

Also, outfits are not currently working. Please, if you are playing this game hop in vent. I always see at least 3 people on but non in vent.

I was invited into an outfit yesterday, Poon Goons. Ya, hit No, then filed a bug report because it gave me the 'you accepted the invite' response. So, it looks like you can create an outfit and invite to it, someone will have to try it out soon.

As an early beta this game is already very polished. It will launch with little issues, I think. Gameplay is great. After the latest patches it is showing amazing smoothitude.
I am running on a 2 year old system and the settings are at medium with no problems.

Hey all, I have a few beta keys I would be willing to give to some people. I really enjoy the community but have been a bit of a lurker. So if you legitimately interested in this game and not gonna make me waste my keys, PM me and I'll give you a key.

Edit: 1 left

I took the plunge on the Alpha Squad offer as I know I am going to be playing the game anyways. I joined Vanu on US East 1 since that seems to be where the GWJ contingent is focused. After a few hours --knowing it is a beta and pretty rough around the edges, it has a lot of potential. It still has a epic feel of the original. The only real problem I found was lots of lag today. It made combat feel a bit arbitrary. I'll catch up with you guys in vent. Is there a regular night you all hook up?

Thanks a lot for the key. I know what I'm doing for the rest of the weekend

Oh I'm thinking of playing a blue sniper, so hit me up for a squad when those become available.

Edit: Download faster damn it...

Edit 2: Thought I'd add some tutorials I found:

Edit 3: Heh everyone seems to be Vanu, I guess join them. See you all on Vent. (after another couple hours of downloading....)

I think I'm gonna focus on certing up and weaponizing a Gal. It will be known as FrogBear Air. Only slightly less dangerous than Swamp Air.

"Press M to open up the Map and hot drop etc. etc."

Well Jebus Criminy, that should have been some sort of pop up when I first loaded the game.

Installing updates, grabbing Ventrillo. I should be able to play tonight. Yay!

Thanks for those videos Master0.

EDIT: Did I miss the info for the Vent server? I looked for it but couldn't find it.

If you are playing tonight make sure to get onto Vent. we'll group up for better awesomeness

As much as I would like to play the beta I get the feeling my computer wouldn't be able to handle the optimized client. I will just wait patiently.

Ok I just had my first round before I was kicked from the server. It gets rather laggy during big battles but that's not a surprise, beta and all that. As a sniper it makes it crazy tough, so I went for smaller areas. Vehicles seem a bit hard to driver in first person, while third person seems hard to shoot in them. It's incredible chaotic but still fun. Watching the ebb and flow of a battle is amazing. One minute you and a group of 20 are dominating. The next your hiding in your last save point.

I really don't like my current sniper rifle I wanna switch it out fast. It's more of a rapid fire one, then a stronger single shot rifle. Also the bullets seem damn slow and I have to lead quite a bit. Oh and the scope is horrid. I also played a bit of the jet pack guy and that was fantastic. I'll go on vent in a bit see what's up. All in all its great fun.

Edit: Just accidentally wandered into an organized group. It's like night and day really. Was a lot of fun being a 10 man wrecking crew. Well til we ran into a 20 man one, with a tank...
