MechWarrior: Online - Catch all

Voice tech being added. It's Vivox C3, which I'm not familiar with.

They've worked on MMOs before if it's the same company i'm remembering.

Got a beta invite. What do I need to know?

Stick with the pack.

I love that they added weapon range indicators and the ability to chain fire within a weapon group (each trigger pull fires a weapon in the group then goes to the next weapon, as opposed to firing the entire weapon group at once).

I signed up/downloaded the VOIP program but haven't tried it out yet.

We should set a night to group up and try to get some coordination going.

My schedule is open to pretty much anything that isn't monday-wednesday night. Monday it would have to be after 6ish. I am a grad student so taking night classes. So, open from Thursday-Sunday. Nevin and Mannishboy both have me on steam. I've logged on to Mechwarrior Online to check for incoming friend invites.

Really whenever. There are always games going on from what I can tell. It just depends on what team you get on. There haven't really been any close battles.

If I was in, my pilot name would be grumpicus.

So the deadline is today @ 10AM Pacific for a Founder's package. I just can't quite convince myself to go as high as a $60 package, even though what I've played is fun. Might pull the trigger on the $30 package, though.

Decisions, decisions.

It's still only pvp right? What I wouldn't give for a new pve mech game...

Sounds like Hawken will have PvE soon after release.

But yes, MWO is only PVP right now.

Sweet. I've been keeping an eye on hawken but missed that particular bit. Thanks! Good to know I'm not alone in the hating of pvp.

I took a screenshot last night of a guy named 'Francis York Morgan'. I laughed considerably. Played some games last night and realized the game had a REALLY BAD BUG that I fixed. So I was spending something like a Million Creds repairing my Catapult. Basically all the money I earned every battle. So I decided to think about how my mech was constructed and basically didn't pay to repair the most expensive thing. After the game finished the problem was fixed and I was paying a resonable price.

ER PPC.... INFINTE RANGE.... lol

It's not that I hate PVP, I just hate short, round-based PVP with no long-term consequences for success or failure. Give me territory, or objectives or a merc unit with cash income and costs. Give me something scouting, intel and team resource management actually matters! Give me a battletech mux in 3d! But I've been on this horse a while.

There are consequences, now. They're implementing repair costs and ammo costs, so if you lose rounds, you could have an unusable Mech until you can earn enough with the free Mechs to get yours back into battle.

Maybe not to the level you want, but it's starting to come in.

I'm worried that this will turn into World of Tanks to where some stuff just isn't usable due to costs to operate being too high without real money being thrown at it in some form or fashion.

I bought the $30 Founder's package because the game seems fun, but the more I read of some of the revenue stuff (not final), the more worried I get as to where this economy might end up.

I'm not in this for the lore and the "sim-ness". I just want a fun game. I don't even mind paying a bit. I just hope they end up with a fair economy.

So they ended up giving me 500,000 General XP. I used a bunch leveling up Atlas and Hunchback to max (I cheated a bit, bought three mechs, leveled them all, then sold two...it also gave me lots of C-Bills). I'm not sure how the extra item slot (top tier pilot improvement) works or if it just isn't implemented.

The very interesting thing is that under the Pilot XP area they list the Raven, Cicada, and one other (forget which) mechs but they aren't available yet.

Somewhere in the forums there was a breakdown of when features, maps, and mechs were being brought in. You could dig around and find it. I know one of those was on it.

Yeah I've been getting my stuff using C-Bills through playing games with the free mechs. I want to stay free to play as possible before I start spending my real money stuff. The premium account booster for a month is really helping me with that goal of having a crap ton of c bills on hand.

NOTE: A played a ton sept 8... With the premium stuff I have 28 mil c bills in about an hour of games were I won very few of them.

I'm not in the beta. That's what I was told to say.

Are you not in the beta as groan in case someone didn't want to friend you that wasn't in the beta?

I havn't been able to download and install because I didn't just get an email telling me I wasn't in Beta while being at work.

I won't download it and install it tonight.

If I were in Beta, and of course I'm not..I'd be known as groan.

I may be saying too much simply by posting in this thread at this time.

However, thanks to certain real-world stuff, it'll be at least a week between now and my first possible chance to have much to be really evasive about. Grr.

Not saying that I am in the closed beta since that's against the NDA, but if I was, how would I theoretically hook up with those of you who are theoretically playing too. Just for future reference.

There's a friends list feature on the bottom right. Or Vent.

------------

G4 Vid from Pax that goes over a lot of basics of the game.

Vent is always FTW.

If I were to have this, I maybe finally fixed my install/patch problems.

Then I maybe had a chance to run with rickyo as a group. Quite a bit of fun. Assuming I actually was in beta.

There is a MWO - TeamSpeak Server that is very busy all the time. They even have a LFG channel, so you're playing as a group, and not just a bunch of individuals.

If I were in the beta my pilot name would be silentsod.

But that would mean interfacing with *gasp* pubbies!

There's also a MWO channel on the GWJ vent server.

CodingGorilla wrote:

Actually the "pubbies" are generally considered to be the people who aren't using the TeamSpeak server and just queue up randomly. The only way to play is with a group in the TeamSpeak server. The C3 might be nice, but right now everyone is still using TeamSpeak to form up groups.

He meant people not "GWJ" or otherwise known to US. Not the MW community at large.
