Borderlands 2 Catch-All

You're a member Harry. We're just using the original Borderlands group. Unless the everyone thinks we need to make a new group.

Yeah original group seems fine to me. This time around with Steam invites it should be a lot easier to group, instead of having to re-add everyone in gamespy.

Corrected in the post. Thanks. As I said in the other thread, I saw it on twitter and didn't read it myself. Sorry. Still a good deal.

Doesn't seem to have made the rounds here yet, but Mechromancer to be available by October 16th

Pitchford says the date is all-but confirmed — "There may be a little fudge factor there," he warned — as the downloadable content is still being developed by the Borderlands 2 team.

In addition to the Mechromancer DLC, Pitchford confirmed that the studio is working on four more downloadable content packs for Borderlands 2.

Oh yeah, absolutely. Actually has me seriously considering cancelling at Amazon and pre-ordering there. Not sure what I would do with $10 at the MS store though since I've never bought from there before.

I'd just go ahead and take 800 MS points if I didn't see something I was interested in.

Other downside is losing out on Amazon's release day shipping (I assume they'll have it for Prime people).

Hey guys. I'm looking to get in on a Steam 4-pack; please PM me if you're interested, especially if you just need 1 more for a 4-pack you're already organizing.

Also, please add me to Borderlands Steam group. I didn't really get into co-op with the original Borderlands, but I'm hoping to fix that with this one.

You can buy it as cheap (or cheaper) in a single copy on Green Man Gaming with the 25% off coupon they have: GMG25-1BW0K-K1A3G

It would be $37.50, and you'll get a Steam key.

invite sent

SO glad they are using Steam this time- especially since that what we had to use for chat in Borderlands 1 anyway.

I can only hope that we take the sensible option of defaulting to Ventrilo for voice chat and gathering.

Just depends on the in-game voice quality. For TF2 and L4D/2 the in-game stuff is solid so there's no need for 3rd party. If there's pust-to-talk and both send/receive volume like the Valve stuff it might have a chance at being good enough. Will definitely try it out a couple times before giving up on it.

If it works, I'm just using Steam's. It'll be far easier and cause much less confusion. Also, I don't particularly want to have a chatroom with people who aren't in the party. It takes away from the experience for me.

Yeah Steam's is good. Used to use that a lot for Spiral Knights back when there were some of us playing that, since it was just a team of 2 or 3.

Boo. I much prefer Vent, especially with the compression set up.

Another reason I dislike vent is that it is in conflict with chat windows. I have the push to talk key set as tilda and if I have the overlay up with a chat window, it starts entering a butt load of tildas in the chat window. It also beeps like crazy which is double annoying.

Yeah, the quality is better in vent and the normalization is a great feature, but those aren't good enough reasons for me to wat to use it.

I've found that Steam's protocols are at least as good or better when it comes to normalization. I have a hard time thinking of instances where someone came across too loud or too quiet on TF2 voice chat.

Didn't Steam license the Skype codec awhile back?

I don't mean to sidetrack the conversation and I do not mean this as an insult- but when I tell people I belong to an awesome forum that is certainly nerdy in it's way, I'm glad that I conversations like the one above to point to as an example.

Also, don't know enough about Skype to even know if that's a thing- do they license their codec? Would make sense, just haven't heard that before.

MannishBoy wrote:

Yep. Sound quality is pretty darn good, and lots of options. It's very viable for games that don't have their own voice.

Plus it has the text chat in the room as well, so it's more inclusive to those without a mic even. Say, if you have two monitors you can have the chat open in the 2nd one. Quite useful.

In addition to the "it just works" and total control over the volume of individual peeps that Vent provides, it's also handy to have an LFG channel so you can pop in and have a quick chat to see who is up for a game and what level characters they have. Then you adjourn to a sub channel once your game is going. You can also jump into a channel with people already playing a game and see if they have room and are your level. No need to Steam message a half dozen people to check out levels and open slots, and they don't have to interrupt their game to answer you.

Ah well, not worth worrying about until we're actually playing it.

I somehow missed getting in the original Borderlands group way back when, so please add me to the Borderlands 2 group. I'm not sure how much co-op I'll be doing, but it'll be good to have the option. Steam link in sig.

Whatever folks use, i'm sure a lot will congregate on vent and utilize it's niceness and jump into seperate rooms for games just like they do with LoL...

I'll be on ventrilo for this unless the group i'm with insists on using in game voip in which case i'd put a comment on my name that i'm in game voip and mute/deafen myself.

I would love to get an invite to the group.

You can still use Vent, can't you?

I'd be lonely if everyone else is on Steam.

I'll keep you company on Vent, Mantis. Maybe even when I'm playing Borderlands 2 sometimes!

*breaks out the lobster sauce and jumps on Vent*

Mmm.... Sauce.
