The Pile is in Session

Pages

School is back and so is extra time avoiding homework, papers, assignments, etc.. For those of us no longer in school, we just use it as an excuse to stop doing the outdoor stuff. I know having my kids back on a school schedule gives me an hour extra at night.

If you're interested, m0nk3yboy, has the 12 month pile plan thread over here.

A quick reminder, in order to be considered "Pile of Shame" the game needs to be at least three months old. Otherwise, it's just a new game you haven't gotten to playing yet.

Also, if you are curious about some of the previous threads, Pick's of the Pile, etc... Please go here and check out the Google doc I setup.

Let's get on to the games!

This month's Pick of the Pile is

Dragon Age 2

Bulletstorm

I will kill your dick!

Nier (PS3) since I started it tonight.

I will tackle 'Legend of Grimrock', I guess...

I'm gonna start with Singularity. It's multiplatform, and I'll be playing on the 360. Thanks!

I thought Singularity was pretty underrated. It had a nice Bioshock vibe and was fun to play.

Metal Gear Solid 3 HD (360)
Saints Row 3 (PC)

Got my PC fixed after many months, so now I get to work on some Pile titles.

Making a serious go at Dragon Age 2, going to finish that this month and some Prototype as a palate cleanser.

I'll make the relevant comments on DA2 in its own thread but I'll say here that Prototype is a fun game with a great movement feel, but damn it's ugly on PC.

Sonic Unleashed (multi) for me as the kids' obsession with Sonic continues (not a Bastion reference, seriously, my children are loving Sonic right now). I'll be playing it on the 360, and what we've played so far, it's a pretty decent title.

I can't see me getting through more than that off the pile as Darksiders II is my other obsession right now when the kids aren't around.

It's ugly everywhere. I still managed (with the help of an interactive map) to collect everything.

I'm still working on Mass Effect as my primary game for this month. Folks in the JRPG thread convinced me to throw The World Ends With You as second on my pile, so those are my targets for September.

None of the LA Noire DLC is very long, so I'm going to finish up those:

L.A. Noire DLC - The Naked City
L.A. Noire DLC - Reefer Madness
L.A. Noire DLC - Nicholson Electroplating

I'm also going to tackle World of Goo

All of those are fairly short, so I'll probably be playing other stuff this month, but I don't know that I'll finish. I may commit to more later in the month.

Super Mario 3D Land (3DS)

I only have about one special world left...

Going for short order games mostly this month. Penny Arcade Adventures Episode 2 should do me for a couple of days or so. I'll figure out what else to bite into thereafter.

Carrying over Metroid Prime 2 (multi); adding Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (multi) and Gemini Rue (PC).

The dick has been killed. I've already finished Bulletstorm.

Richard!!! NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Hemi

I put 360 on Metal Gear Solid 3 HD but it's actually multiplatform since it's on both.

Fixed...

Now, what should I play this month? I found a cool script that would read your Steam library and upload it to Backloggery. Might go with the Fortune Cookie this month.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs (multiplatform but I played it on 360) has been completed and removed fom the pile.

After months of planning to "start it tonight", I finally fired up Transformers: War for Cybertron (PC/multi), and am halfway through chapter 1. That's my main pledge for the month. I'm really digging the atmosphere, but Megatron's voice being wrong bothers me more than I'm comfortable admitting.

Secondary efforts will be Blazing Lazers (TurboDuo) and Final Fantasy IX (PS1/multi?) as a stretch goal. About a year ago I made it roughly 40-50% through FFIX, and now I will have the fun task of figuring out what exactly was going on and what I have to do.

I didn't get too far in Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box (NDS) last month. As of today, I'm 46 completed puzzles in. It apparently has 153 in total, and since it's already taken me over 6 hours, I'm not going to officially declare it unless it's likely that I'll finish it this month.

I'm going to give Dragon Age 2 another shot.

Alright, looks like I'm gonna finish HOARD (PC/Multi). And by finish I mean, get a medal in every single player map. Not sure what else I'll be playing.

Games I should think about (for my own purposes unless someone wants to chime in):
Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction - Started last month, and if I keep going with this, I'll likely abandon Up Your Arsenal.
Dirt 3 - I keep doing the unlocked other events to keep myself from finishing the last series in the final season
Dead Island - This one got started during the Steam sale, but once I stepped away, I've been finding it hard to go back to.
Mega Man 9 - I declared it once early last year and only loaded it up in futility once.

Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) - you're going down!

I should be able to get World of Goo (PC, multi) cleared off the pile before Borderlands 2 arrives

I'll start with Mighty Switch Force on my 3DS. It'll be the first 3DS game I've played since Super Mario 3D Land, and the second 3DS game I've played overall. Yes, I have buyer's remorse.... and I bought the platform right before the huge markdowns.

That's too bad. I bought mine around the same time and have really enjoyed it.

Looks like my wife and I will also be tackling Rayman Origins (multi) this month.

Care to share with the group?

Actually, it's an EXE, not a script. My mistake. It reads your Steam catalog and generates a text file. You can then edit the text file and then it uploads to Backloggery. It does require you to enter your Backloggery un/pw, but not your Steam.

Okay, this month...this month I'll for sure get through the three games I actually set out to get through:

Enslaved (multi)
Space Marine (multi)
Dawn Of War 2 (PC)

EDIT: Well, I guess you can mark Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine off the list. Apparently I didn't have that much farther to go. That last level was pretty freaking hard, though.

I want to finish up Lego Indy 2 (multi) and Sherlock Holmes v Jack The Ripper (Xbox/multi) during this fine November
