Official Team Fortress 2 Game Nights (PC)

I just discovered an interesting feature built in to tf2items.com

Now maybe it has always been there and I've just never noticed. Anyway, click on any item in your (or someone else's) backpack and you get the trade history of that item. For example, I got a couple of unusual hats from the warehouse a while back. Now I see where they got them from.

Ukick's unusual Texas 10 gallon has been traded 27 times!

TF2 Warehouse backpack thingy does it too, just not as good as tf2items. It refers to it as well. Nice discovery

I was going to quit T-PRIME'S CAR EMPORIUM but a competitor has opened up shop across the street and I'm determined to drive him out of business. http://lingscars.com/

<3 you guys

Oh, I meant not alone in wishing Q-Stone dead

Let's talk about MVM class loadouts!

What loadouts do you prefer for your favorite classes?

Are there any crappy weapons in regular TF2 that really shine in MVM (i.e. Brass Beast or Fan of War)?

Is anyone willing to advocate for the medigun or quickfix over the KK?

Haha, no

As much as I like the QF and the medigun, seems MvM mode is about raw damage so nothing beats the kritz. You can buy a free instant uber for like 75 credits so it makes the other 2 mediguns even less appealing.

I'm willing to advocate for no medic at all.

I think the best class combination is fan-o-war scout, buff banner soldier, backburner pyro, loch-n-load demo, jarate sniper and an engineer with a well placed dispenser. Constant mini-crits and the sniper and pyro can stall the giant scouts really well.

Yeah buff banner soldier or jarate sniper are the two classes I have played a lot of and mini-crits for all is fantastic. And yeah poofing pyro helps stall the bomb.

And dispenser is key.

Basically agree with what pants said.

Instead of sniper, maybe a second engineer.

An engie is essential. You need at least one scout, sniper, or pyro for slowing down the enemy and two seem pretty decent. Seems that the last three could be any combination of soldier, demo, or heavy with maybe a single kritz medic.

Have yet to see a spy be all that effective on a team.

I thought sniper would be a waste.

Then I played MvM with TempestBlayze as sniper. Easiest MvM round I have played so far.

Yeah they have their waves where they can sap a whole group and be cool. But other waves where the bots are spread or they don't can't sap the tanks I think and they end up mostly useless.

HEY! Both evilseed and I have completed rounds on Decoy as spies. Sap super scouts, stab medics, and win.

Medics can be useful (mostly by buying canteens the "Share effects" upgrade and upgrading uber time to maximize crits), but I agree, they're not necessary and probably not optimal. Someone can always offclass to Medic between rounds, charge a KK for the demo to lay stickies, then switch back.

I ran LL demo last night and it absolutely. Wrecked. Everything. In the regular game it's a glass cannon, in this one it's just a cannon. (You don't need it for the first round or two, though. Save your credits and use the GL, then switch over and upgrade your LL straight into the Death Bringer.)

I'm a huge fan of the Direct Hit/Buff Banner soldier. Fully upgraded, I can throw down 480 damage crockets from it, and can chuck out 10 of them wicked fast in a single KK with time left for one or two more after a super fast reload.

Wrangled sentry with fully upgraded wrench speed = Win. Unless I get sniped it's hard for most things to get past it.

Damn, never thought on upgrading my wrench speed...makes so much sense.

I didn't know it affected build speed until ukick told me. It was like an entirely new game after that.

Hey someone send me an MvM invite tonight. I've still never played a game.

I also use the Jag to help just that much more. Is there any other better wrench?

I came home today and an idling alt picked up a Big Country, 'Do Rag, and a level 100 Huo Long Heatmaker. I should go buy a lottery ticket or something.

A buddy of mine here in Austin, OtterMatt, is looking to play some MvM. He plays on our pub sometimes, but doesn't post in the forums much. If any of you regular MvMers get a friend request from him, that's why. He's already in the TF2 group and sees people are trying to form up lobbies, but can't respond.

Oh dear lord... I tried to finish the final mission of my tour with a team of pubbies. I know, what was I thinking? Apparently common sense is far from common and why is it that the idiot who plays the worst complains the most about how "you guys" suck?

Let's start with a medic who would only heal the only other guy on the team he knows even if that guy is dead and there are others around him under fire. No, he stands in a corner and waits for his buddy to return to the front no matter how much we complain. Next we have the demo who decided the best weapon loadout was standard grenade launcher, targe, and bottle? So yeah, no stickies. This has win written all over it so far, does it not?

In fairness, I had a good Engy. Moved the gun well as waves progressed. Good dispenser placement when he understood Dr. Useless was pocketing. He was as frustrated with the team as I was. The soldier was OK when he focused on the enemy but he kept trying to rocket jump over the waves to shoot down at them and was hurting himself more than the enemy. Pyro ran degreaser, shotgun, and fireaxe. Engy told him after wave 4 that he should have been using a better flamethrower and a flare gun to at least harrass the snipers picking us apart. Moron changed loadout and then proceded to whine that the game "ripped him off" because all of his upgrades vanished.

So the first wave where we fail there is lots of complaining and idiots blaming other idiots. When we failed again, (how could we not?), 2 players quit. Right. We failed with 6 yeah 4 is really going to work. Two morons had already pressed F4 to carry on as if nothing happened. So I wished them luck, (you'll need it) and left too.

I appreciate you guys so much more now.

Yeah, playing MvM with pubbies takes it to a whole new (and more painful) level.
Makes for good stories though
