GWJ bugs, feature requests, and updates

The Fire default browser (Silk?) also is not able to zoom.

You all have the ability to now edit your profile and configure your account to not use the responsive stylesheet. Ideally, in the long term, we won't need this option. But, this should help all you guys currently struggling with font scaling on various devices.

You are 7 kinds of awesome!

Bug: when editing your profile, the email address field auto populates with your username and fails to update until you change it to be your email address.

As a disgruntled young(?) person who hates change, my iPhone and I thank you.

Now I can't resize the page on my phone! Guess it's back to the responsive style.

When using Chrome everything wants to revert to the mobile site.

How wide is your window? If I tighten mine up, it does that, but on a wide window it's fine.

It's never happen on my widescreen laptop but on the non-widescreen comptuers I use at work it can't figure out what it wants to do. It will go back and forth between the two. It never does it in IE.

Are you resizing the window, or is this wildly doing it on it's own without your interaction? It's adaptive when the horizontal goes past certain thresholds.

I keep the window maximized. If I press the back button it will go to desktop mode but anytime I click a link it goes back to mobile mode. It just acts confused.

Has anyone considered adding a visual cue (on a per thread basis) that highlights when Certis or Elsyium has posted in a thread? Like a little tiny golden pillow at the end of the thread title or something? I post on other forums where staff posts are called out and it's a nice feature.

Spoiler:

#creepystalker

Can't you just check their profile tracker (Certis, Elysium) and stalk them that way?

Just noticed goodjers can add specific tags to Threads. Any chance we could see tags in user profiles?
ie, Hobbes2099 has "PS3, PC, RPG, JRPG, readItLater" as tags.

To what end, so someone can find who's used those tags on posts (top 10 users who tag with pc, etc), find users who've tagged themselves as 'pc' or 'readitlater'?

I fell in love with the "favorite threads", only to later regret it. I've missed out on quite a few things that are happening in our forums because I've gravitated to reading entirely updates on posted I've favorited. Not sure if this will have the desired effect, but it could help goodjers find out about posts and discussions about things they might find interesting. In the last 24 hours, there were over 150 threads updated. Granted, it's not the biggest list and people interested enough can go beyond page 4, but it could be a way to look for politics, PC gaming, games, cool android apps, and events that might slip beyond the first few pages; specially if you have only a few minutes here and there to take a look a the site during work.

I use Favorite Threads for those threads that I know I WANT to see when they're updated. I still use my personal tracking page for threads I'm generally keeping up with, and I try to keep up with new threads in the general tracking page. Basically the favorites page just added another layer of tracking and didn't eliminate anything else for me, which is fine.

Agreed, my case is probably not that common, nor should it be the only reason why my recommendation should apply. I'm just putting it out there and see if it sticks.

There was an outstanding bug with the user preference for toggling off the responsive design that prevented some browsers from scaling the site properly if the responsive styles were off. This should now be fixed!

Another small update is that the donation drive page should now render properly using responsive styles.

Can we get search on the mobile page?

Thanks for the fix!

Haha, I read that as outstanding = fantastic(sarcastically, of course) rather than extant.

I'll test it out later, thanks!

Feature idea: how about a list at the bottom of the page (right above the nav bar/part of the nav bar) of two or three links to other posts with the same tags as the post you're reading?

I don't think its supposed to look like this...

What are all those apps you have running? I hate apps that have notifications running always.

One is a battery percentage indicator (I like numbers better than pictures), one is a profiler that sets my volume prefs based on time of day, one is a weather app, one is a chat app, and the last is just a notification that a screen shot has been saved.

I've got the same problem with the donation bar on my iPad as well, in portrait mode. The banner is screwing up the page format, dragging it too wide so that slews around when I am scrolling.

I can't pinch to zoom on GWJ either, which I am pretty sure started when the donation banner went up.

The banner is a great idea, though. I am always amazed by the generosity of this community.

Would it be possible to have the popular forum threads links go to the newest post in that particular thread?

I saw it earlier, when the responsive design went live I think.

I'd really like to be able to favorite articles as well as forum threads, someday.

You cn, but you need to do a workaround:

1 - Open the article.
2 - Grab the node number (.../node/xxxxx )
3 - Grab the link that is used to favourite an article
http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/favori...
4 - Paste [b]xxxxx[/b after the add/
5 - Hit enter
6 - Voila!!
7 - Profit??
