But he says up front that he loves loving things!

The converse of that is that if Jeff says he doesn't like something, you know it's probably a real stinker.

Well him "loving something" is the equivalent of a metacritic score over 60 so I guess what you say is true. OK, how about this. There are podcasters who seem to have 20 or more "one of my top 3 games of all time". I guess these patently false statements just start to irk me after a while.

That was excellent.

I must have been listening to US podcast too long. Those presenters sounded very English.

Now I gotta go I've got a bad case of the codblops.

So, I know it's not really a gaming podcast, but the recent discussion here about Weekend Confirmed has reminded me that I'm pretty much done with The Comedy Button. I feel saturated by the crassness, I suppose. Looking back, most of what I enjoyed was the "shock humor", the "did he just say that?" type of stuff. It's funny, sure, but I feel like after 30+ episodes I've had my fill.

8-4 Play, unsubscribe.

Such a shame, there are at least 2 super intelligent guys on the cast that I enjoyed listening to. But Mark McD just brings the whole ship down with his stupidity and pandering.

Ricciardi has hinted that the next episode will be another "Super Game Masters" retrospective, so I'm sticking around for at least one more episode. But the show has been mediocre-to-awful for almost a year running now.

I'm curious as to who you feel are the "2 super intelligent guys," though.

Sorry, I'm fuzzy on the names but I think the ones who aren't Mark or John (probably). Of course they get caught up in the stupidity also but when they talk about a game they've played I get the feeling they know their sh*t.

I've been listening to more Besties recently, and I think they're stepping it up. Russ' characters generally take away more than they add in my opinion, but their discussion of the games is getting better.

So I forgot to remove Weekend Confirmed from my podcast downloader and it grabbed this week's episode. I had a slow day at work yesterday and blew through a lot of the other stuff early so I decided I'd give it a shot again. This episode was definitely much better. The discussion about reviews later on was really excellent. When everyone's sober and kept on track, the show is just so much better. I also find it hilarious that the guest who runs The Unofficial Apple Blog for Joystiq is the one who has both times largely avoided iOS talk unless led there by one of the other guys.

Yeah, also I have to say I really like when Garnett discusses a game where he clearly knows what he is discussing in depth, like the racing game conversation from a few weeks ago and the madden discussion from the most recent one.

Thanks Higgledy. I'll let the others know you enjoyed it.

FTFY. I was looking forward to hearing some actual discussion about Dust, and instead I get treated to a fake New York accent talking about big-boobed rabbits for what felt like twenty minutes.

The "everyone pretends Russ is leaving and some silly character is coming in, and then acts annoyed with the silly character" schtick was okay the first time. It really, REALLY needs to not be an every-episode thing.

Man, I love Russ' characters. He was always pretty terrible at pitching games, so an equally terrible character pitching it seems to make it more entertaining to me.

Besides:

What's this about Russ's characters now? I haven't listened to Besties yet, but I'm getting a feeling I might not want to.

I laugh at Russ' characters about the same amount that I roll my eyes. It's an ok trade off. I like the fact that they keep it goofy, even if it does fall flat sometimes.

I don't know how much you know about the Besties, but in essence three or four friends will pitch games to each other about which is the best one. Russ, one of the Besties, will often do it in the form of an obtusely bad character that you enjoy/pity at the same time. I find the terribleness funny, but I could understand it not being everyone's cup o' tea.

You won't know if you like it 'til you try it.

The other panelists generally try to go with it, although Justin actually admitted out loud during the show that is was difficult to keep the improv going with some of that stuff. (He made a side comment about struggling to keep the, "Yes, and" going.

I like Russ a lot better as the loud guy with the goofy intro who always poorly pitches a random iOS game. Between the four of them they tend to mention some sweet new iOS games each week, which is handy.

Also, the Lion King intro from Russ was fantastic.

Just thought I'd mention that I bought a couple of pairs of earbuds from TweakedAudio, as promoted on the GWJCC, and they were complete garbage. Really cheap but still probably better off putting the money towards higher quality earbuds.

I bet the beds in the castle suck too

The castle sounds cool so I hope not!

Do they ONLY do ear buds? I'd love to support GWJ but I hate ear buds.

I hate how ear buds are pretty much replacing ear phones because I find them to be the most uncomfortable things to wear no matter who makes them.

+2.

Y'all be cray cray. Earbuds 4 lyfe.

Umm, their earbuds are so sh*tty I'd hate to try their cans.

That's too bad! When they sent me a pair to test before we ran ads I had set of Ear Candy buds I tested against. I had to buy them in a pinch at the airport for like, $30. The Tweaked ones were night and day better than the higher priced Ear Candy set, so I decided I was cool promoting them. Obviously if you're serious about audio you have to spend more than $20 bucks, but for the price I think the Tweaked ones are great.

Yeah, I know plenty of people who swear by the audio quality of Tweaked Audio. I just don't care for the buds myself.

Well, I was either highly unlucky to be sent two dud pairs or the build quality just isn't there. The wiring is loose on both (you wiggle it and the audio drops in and out) and you can tell the cable is flimsy (it's really thin and has a soft rubber feel). The buds seem to fit tightly in my ears with good seal which would be nice but somehow they almost immediately become uncomfortable and the actual audio is echo-ey (best way I can describe it).

Candies seem to get bad reviews so I would avoid them too although I haven't tried them myself. I'm actually sporting a pretty rock solid pair of ear buds right now that didn't cost much more than $15 and are light years ahead of the tweaked ones in terms of build quality (admittedly the tweaked ones only came to a bit over half that). I'll have to look up the link when I get back to my PC. They're pretty beaten up after 6 months of hard use but I think I'll just replace them with another pair at this point. Pity, cos the Tweaked ones are definitely cuter!
