Guild Wars 2 Guild organization thread.

Once you pick a server, it's "permanent" for all of your characters. You can't just create characters randomly on all of the servers.

That said, there's supposed to be a period of free transfers for the first week or so (i.e. transfer all of your characters from server x to y, and also all of your subsequent characters would be associated with y), and also transfers after the free period ends, via Gems. So your best bet at this point, I think, is to just pick a server and hope transfers to Northern Shiverpeaks are enabled soon.

Does "Full" mean that the server can't accomodate more characters period, or that it's just full right now and once folks log off, I'll be good to go?

I would assume it's not a "number of connected users" limit, but rather a "number of accounts attached to the server" limit. I also assume that they've artificially reduced the capacity of the servers to keep them somewhat balanced across, and that they'll gradually increase the capacity -- especially around Tuesday when the game officially launches.

Every server but one shows as full for me right now, which is kind of nuts. I have to image they can up the limit as will, because we're still in Headstart. This really kind of sucks, though; I didn't spend $80 to play by myself.

Really neat game so far. I like this direction for MMOs (no subscription fee, etc). I dig how they took the public quest idea from Warhammer and just ran with it. Still can't decide on a main class but that's fun too. Anyway I filled out the form to join the guild so shoot me an invite whenever (barab.2964)

Finally was able to register, and put myself on the invite spreadsheet.
Edit - was going to join Yak's but that's full too.
Fort Aspenwood and Borlis Pass are the only US worlds open, and they're both "high" already.
Edit #2 - Now they're both full and two others are at "high." Went with Henge of Denravi

Added my name to the spreadsheet. Thanks for organizing all of this!

I have a feeling they're putting on artificially low caps at the start to try and spread the headstarters out. Hopefully they'll be raising them on a regular basis.

OK the next rounds of invites has gone out. If you added your name to the list then you should be all set.

We just increased the guild size limit to 200 since we are getting very close to 100. I will be away most of the day tomorrow, but there are enough officers that if you add your name to the spread sheet or ask in vent you should have no problem getting an invite.

Added my name to the spreadsheet for an invite to the guild. I hope to join you guys soon.

@merphle

Got an invite after I logged in (Maiden Heaven). Thanks for looking out for us.

I am but a humble servant of the guild.

Rabbit.7821 not sure what to do other than add myself to the spreadsheet, whcih i did. Not usre how to find people in game or join the guild.

I've been able to transfer to Northern Shiverpeaks now, and I went through and invited some people who recently added themselves to the sheet. Everyone who put a valid GW2 name on it as of 1:45 EST should be invited.

I just went through the account name spreadsheet....

A few folks have not received a guild invite because they did not provide a valid GW2 account name to invite. I will PM those folks.

Hit "g" and see if you're in. If not, whine to Arovin a LOT.

I added myself to the spreadsheet, looking forward to joining up!!

After the server loads I ended up with my regular MMO crew on Sorrows, and since we've started to settle, I think I'll probably stay there (unless I can convince them all to move to Shiverpeaks). I wasn't very interested in WvW, but will absolutely be up for joining the GWJ crew for PvE once we get guesting going.

Added my info to the sheet, Thanks to Arovin and everybody else who worked on putting this together!

All pending invites on the sheet have been sent as of now...

I successfully transferred to Northern Shiverpeaks! GW support was noting that people couldn't join guilds for some time yesterday, so I had the invite in guild screen, but couldn't accept it. Hopefully I'll be able to today!

A couple of thoughts so far:

* The environments in the game are beautiful. Wow.
* I loved the music in the first GW, and the music in GW2 is great... except that it's mostly the same music. Anyone know what the story is here? Will I eventually encounter new tracks?
* While I figured things out, the lack of a tutorial was jarring. Maybe things were bugged server-side or something, but I received no tutorial prompts and very little guidance right out of the gate. I felt like my first hour was basically stumbling around hoping I was doing the right thing.

Despite the last two comments, I'm really loving what ArenaNet has done with the direction of the GW gameplay style so far. It seems like there's a ton of depth here, and lots of cool content to explore.

While it wasn't exactly a tutorial, I did get a lot of pop-ups the first time I encountered something (Loot, skills, combos, etc). There's also a button on the top left that opens up the list of all the tips you've gotten so far, for when they pop-up in the middle of combat and you don't exactly have time to stop and read them.

So far GW2 is a rare thing for me, a MMO where I leave the music on. Usually I turn the music off and provide my own or mix it with watching TV, but GW2 isn't sharing any of my sensory inputs with anything else.

The other thing I'm finding is that it's one of those games where I can sense a big intimidating mountain of stuff to do in front of me, and I'm diving right in. There's no "I'll just get to 80" or "I'll just get to Orr" half measures, I want to play all of it.

I really like the events. When there's two events going on near each other I nearly have a conniption trying to somehow do both.

I have no clue about the party system. I'm playing with Alex, in the same room, and in the same party as well, but we have a hell of a time finding each other. Sometimes the game will give a prompt about whether we want to join a mission in progress (your story mission, but not always).

Anytime you change maps, however, we end up in different overflow worlds, which is useless and pointless as far as being a team goes.

I also have no idea what missions he is working on or where he is, without speaking to him out of game. That seems weird to me.

It would be great to be able to teleport to his location (charge me a few coppers if you like), or TP the nearest waypoint, or at the very least, to the same map instance.

DonD: If one of you is in an overflow server (it's labelled on the minimap), you can right click that person's portrait and click "Join in...". You need to be in the same zone for this to be an option.

Unfortunately, it's kind of iffy and it might not work, but it did the last time I tried it.

Yeah I like the idea of the overflow but the fact that you can be separated from your party is silly. Should keep you together automatically.

I haven't seen the "Join in" menu item except for immediately after launch. From Saturday morning on it's just not been there in the list when I right-click.

When it was there it just gave me a network error.

I'm also really enjoying the greater emphasis on direct storytelling (vs other MMOs). I like the spoken dialog cutscenes, etc.

The world events are really fun, and there are enough people around that most of them become pretty epic!

I'm not sure if I'm just completely overlooking this or not. Is there a place to change chat settings? I'm not sure that guild chat is incorporated into my main chat window. I'd like to change the coloring for certain types of chat, the duration it stays on my screen, and the transparency of the chat window. Am I missing something?

In addition, is there prompting that shows when friends or guild mates log in or out? I guess I'm used to seeing that in other MMOs and don't see it here.

On the top left of the chat window is a gear for settings. You can click on any og the tab names to set what is shown in them.
