Guild Wars 2 Guild organization thread.

If you filled out the form and still haven't received an invite, it's because you didn't put your full GW2 account name (with numeric suffix). I'm talking to you: whispa, Reikijenosaido, JeremyK, IAMCDS1, and Irish_gamer

Added myself to the form, Dryden.2793.

I know that overall it's been lag and downtime so far, but i was pretty damn impressed when they opened up three hours early and i was able to make a few characters without any problems.

I got to play for a couple of hours after launch and I'm definitely loving the game. Kept ending up on the overflow server running around through the chaos of the Events with like 20 other random people.

Is there a way to make separate chat windows? The wiki is down and from what I searched out it seems like no. I found it hard keeping track of all the words zipping by with different colours and whatnot.

I created a third tab on the chatbox and used a dropdown menu to select '/guild' from a checklist. I believe I just had to click a plus sign to the right of the combat tab to get the custom tab. That said though, I didn't try to break the chat box tabs out into separate boxes so I don't know if it's possible to get individual windows.

I'm all set. I filled it out correctly but I clicked the link a second time on accident and my 1password program auto filled "JeremyK" into both selections. You can ignore that.

Added my login to the opening spreadsheet. Hope to see you all there!

I added my name to the spreadsheet. Asterith.7194. Can I get an invite?

Thanks!

Is guild membership based on character or account? If I create 4 alts, will they all be in the guild too? Just wondering due to my planned 'alt creation fest' later today.

Account, although for each character you have to select to represent the guild, otherwise it's as though you're not in there.

Please fill out the form here so that we don't lose this request in the shuffle:

Done!

Cool, thanks!

I didn't get an invite so I probably didn't feel out the form correctly. My account is Distantsound.9802

Added to spreadsheet, hopefully my account stays fixed.

Meh, thanks for the heads up! I think I missed the GW2 account name with numeric digits...Here it is..

PixelSynth.2497

Thanks!!

I got the invite, though it's not letting me click that Join button. Anyone know of a workaround?

I played for 2-3 hours at launch last night. I didn't play GW1, and I only pre-purchased Thursday evening.

This is awesome. $80 well-spent.

If anyone is on Windows 7 and is experiencing the problem I had with Vent's push-to-talk not working when the game client is in the foreground (Windows UAC is getting in the way), you can solve it one of two ways:

1) Make sure you run the shortcut in the Games folder of the Start Menu. The Microsoft Games for Windows specification has allowances for programs that have shortcuts in the Games folder. The installer also puts a shortcut on the desktop. The desktop shortcut doesn't get the allowances, bug the Games shortcut does. Just pin the shortcut to your Taskbar or Start Menu.

2) Completely disable UAC.

While UAC can be tedious, it does have some benefits. #1 is more secure.

The third approach is to launch Vent using Run as Administrator. Works for all games that I've thrown at it.

Just sent out the next wave of invites from the spread sheet. We are close to 80 members now.

Hey there. Just throwing my hat in the ring. Won't be in the game until Tuesday, but definitely looking forward to it. Also- am I just being an idiot or can you not sign up at the "GWJ GW2 account info" page until you've got your GW2 name nailed down?

I'm in the guild, but I can't "represent". I click and it does nothing. I'm chalking it up to server load. I'll check it again later.

FYI, if you get the problem where you are invited to the guild but click join and nothing happens, log off and try again.

I would assume so, since they can't invite your character(s) until they have a name. That's why I'm not on their yet. I got (technically getting since it won't show up until Monday) GW2 as a pre-order via Amazon as a birthday present, and they haven't yet sent the head start key* that would let me add GW2 to my account. Since it wasn't ordered on my account, I can't bug Amazon about it myself and have to bug the person who ordered it to bug Amazon, which has been rather frustrating.

*Yes, I know that according to Arena.net only pre-purchases get the 3-day head start, but it was pre-ordered on Amazon months before they were allowed to sell pre-purchases, and on their product page they state that they've extended the pre-purchase promo to all pre-orders as well.

This one gives a pretty good overview of which crafting profession goes well with which class:

Also, I noticed that Northern Shiverpeaks is now listed as FULL on the login screen...

Thanks for the helpful links. It's something to read while I wait for Tuesday.

All of the discussed servers are full up; I ended up join Yaks to make a char, and will try to transfer as soon as I can. Things haven't calmed down in the last few hours while I've been checking.

I finally got my code, but registration is timing out. They're aware of it, so I'll keep retrying every so often until I can get in.

Just a quick note to say that I've requested an invite and already gotten it in game. I know GrandmaFunk and Tyops in real life and I'm just hoping into the guild. See you guys in game!

Thanks!

I've signed up in the Google Doc... just waiting until the Northern Shiverpeaks world isn't full so I can hop in! Can I leave it on the world select screen and check back? Like, does that list refresh over time, or do I need to logout / login to see the change? Also, can I start a character on a different world just to start checking things out, and then start a different character on Northern Shiverpeaks?

Once you pick a server, it's "permanent" for all of your characters. You can't just create characters randomly on all of the servers.

That said, there's supposed to be a period of free transfers for the first week or so (i.e. transfer all of your characters from server x to y, and also all of your subsequent characters would be associated with y), and also transfers after the free period ends, via Gems. So your best bet at this point, I think, is to just pick a server and hope transfers to Northern Shiverpeaks are enabled soon.

I transferred this morning.
