Interesting Kickstarter Catch-All

HazzaH The Mobile Tabletop RPG Tool for iPhones and iPads

HazzaH is a set of tools bundled into one iOS app (an Android version is planned as part of our stretch goals) to bring tabletop RPGs to the smartphone and tablet age. Most pen-and-paper RPGs share several similar features: dice, maps, initiative tracker, character maker, campaign maker, and minis to represent characters and those they are destined to fight. HazzaH will give you all this plus in-game text chat, the ability to create characters and 3D game maps, the ability to print and export characters and maps, and RPG specific rule references and much more.

Owners are in Coral Gables, FL? D&D and tech from South Florida raises flags for me.

Why??

Tech industry in Florida isn't really a thing. Much less tabletop RPGs. My first thought about this was trying to figure out where the scam is. Their kickstarter profile says Carmel, IN but their last reward says:

OVERLORD Previous rewards + a fully paid trip to Coral Gables, Florida to meet the owners of Fable Streams, the creators, designers, and the creatives that made this whole thing possible + a private game session using HazzaH run by the game developers (or you can run it, if you want to). You must be able to travel to Coral Gables, Florida—International Visa and passport costs not included + Get your name in website and app credits as an OVERLORD backer.
(6 of 6 remaining)

Their company isn't registered in FL either as a search at sunbiz doesn't show anything called Fable Streams LLC. So which is it? BTW, they are registered in Indiana.

Maybe I've been burned too many times, but I am staying away from this one.

I have emailed the company with the question. Will see what they say.

mudbunny - the lack of quote tags or quotation marks makes your HuzzaH post sound like you are part of the project; this was especially confusing with Edwin's response and the back and forth.

Have you guys ever seen a Kickstarter for a restaurant before? I walked by a bar/restaurant (still being renovated) in Harlem the other day and was surprised to see a kickstarter link on their coming soon banner. Wish I could remember the name though.

Vancouver had an IndieGogo for a video game bar, so it's not unheard of.

Yeah, I've seen a couple. Here's a successful kickstater for a Hot Dog Cart in Chicago.

Neat. Pink Gorilla in Seattle has a Kickstarter for a pub & gaming lounge. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...

Interesting, but aside from the custom USB device doesn't seem much different than a DIY solution

So... Someone is trying to build a Tesla museum at Tesla's old lab and The Oatmeal is getting on as a supporter. The internet rallied around The Oatmeal's "cause" last time, so we'll see how this goes.

It's indiegogo, but cut me some slack.

Has anyone posted Monte Cook's new game kickstarter yet? http://kck.st/O61qCH

Looks very pretty, and inspired by Gene Wolfe's New Sun/Jack Vance's Dying Earth. And it's already over-funded, so plenty of bonus stuff is coming.

Downsides: you need to wait until next year to get it, no system details yet.

Missed the "inspired by" bit and rushed to that link to throw my money at a Gene Wolfe RPG... Huge disappointment. Still, it looks cool, and I like Cook's stuff in general. Thinking.

Woodstock is not Chicago. It is where my mother-in-law lives, though. Also where they filmed Groundhog Day.

Noted. After consulting the map...
Here's a successful kickstater for a Hot Dog Cart closer to Beloit than Chicago.

Tenra Bansho Zero - An Art and Culture-Rich RPG from Japan

This is a translation and update effort from my friend and GWJ member Andy. We have played this game at many our of RPG game sessions. This is a kickstarter for the actual printing, not some pipe dream. And it's almost completely funded.

As of now, it is funded. Very cool. I'm sending this to a friend of mine as I think he'll really dig it.

With all his knowledge of the Japanese language and culture I cringed when he said "Taoist" instead of "Daoist".

Help fund a private rover to be landed on the Moon

Bonus: At the $10k level, you can pilot the real rover. On the Moon.

The timing on this one is awfully convenient.

You know Andy? That's cool. I used to waste hours over on the story-games.com forum.

Has no one mentioned The Other Brothers? Either way, it should be mentioned.

Only 6 days left to get nearly $30K, but I really hope they can pull this one off-- this game has an awesome style and looks like a ton of fun. I'm also curious how the multiplayer aspect would work on an iPad.

Broken Sword - the Serpent's Curse Adventure

This one's an automatic fund for me.

Yeah, as soon as I saw this on Felicia Day's facebook page I clicked the link and funded.

Stompy is a cool idea, and, though it is already fully funded, I still would like to get myself a bumper sticker:

Seven days to go, and they are 66% of the way to their goal, but Project Giana put out a demo of two levels today. It looks cool, like a Dark World/Light World platformer. I'm backed, mostly because I love the art style they are going with.
