Thanks all!

Thanks/dla

That top sticky thread is where you might get a ton of help. They've parted some nice rigs for around 500 recently though not with a monitor.

Do you have an OS that can be reused? Preferably Windows 7.

Thanks for the tip duckilama. I'll look.

Garion: Yes, I have Win 7 Ultimate.

Thanks folks/dla

I have the following parts sitting in the garage, PM if interested:
1 Gainward GeForce 5700 128MB
2x 2GB 10600 RAM
1x 2GB 8500 RAM
4x 512MB 5300 RAM
2x 512MB 4200 RAM
2x 128MB PC133 RAM

If I were you, I'd watch craigslist and try to find a free CRT monitor. Most people just toss 'em these days. I know it's big and bulky, but it saves you having to spend anything on a monitor now, and frees up more resources for the other parts.

Thanks Eezy: I'll wait till I more parts become available before I get any one thing

Thanks Pur': Good idea. But as it stands now, and probably not making a whole lot of
sense, if I do have to go desktop, I'll try to make it a 'mobile' as possible (moving it to
another room and back again if neeeded).

I'll have an extra video card soon, pci-e 2.0. I'll contact you. Oh, and I'll have some RAM too.

I've been thinking of upgrading so I might consider selling my current rig. Keep in mind most of it is over 3 years old except the graphics card. Runs most new games on mid to high settings but it can't quite keep up with my bazillion browser tabs open on one monitor while running a windowed game on the other.

I've never sold a used computer before so I'm not quite sure how to price it out. I tried putting together a new build on newegg that would be roughly equivalent (hard to do since you can't get most of these parts anymore) and it was about $850. Also I'm sure shipping won't be cheap.

EDIT- For clarification $850 is not what I would be asking since that would be brand new.

Anyways I'll leave it at that until I know if you are at all interested.

I have a couple of old gigabyte gtx580's that I'd let go for $250 each but that's probably out of your price range.

I want to thank every for their advice and offers. Upon reflection I got ahead of
myself in the excitement of it all. But the reality is, now is not a good time for
me to embark on such a purchase.

Again, appreciate everyone's input.

Thanks much,

Donan
