Curiosity on Mars

I can't stop reading the SarcasticRover on twitter. LETS ALL DO A SCIENCE!

lol

At the Large Hadron Collider lab, we’re used to honest disagreements between scientists. But we’d like to see that douche come over here and say that to our face.

I had to double check my address bar to make sure it wasn't the onion.

Man, putting one picture of Curiousity on Curiousity wasn't enough, they needed to put two? Do they think that the Rover is going to forget what it looks like?

It's for when future space travelers find the remains of Curiousity, broken and run down at the bottom of a ravine, so that they can put it back together and find the ancestral home of humanity.

The joke's on us. Mars IS our ancestral home, and we're doing the same to earth right now.

*trollface*

It's satire news like The Onion.
Other articles include "Chick-fil-A Introduces New Hate Sauce" and an interview with Romney that quotes him as saying "Well, I suppose the biggest challenge would be the same one I’ve faced all my life: that no one likes me. But as I’ve found in the past, money usually takes care of that."

Yeah, after a little digging I realized that the "Borowitz Report" part of the New Yorker is essentially a copycat of The Onion.

I guees I should have done more digging... oops.

I confess to raiding my son's 3d dinosaur book to use the stereoscopic glasses to look at mars imagery posted on NASA's website.

Sadly, he wasn't interested. I don't think that he understands what Mars is. His scope on the universe is only developed as far as city. Country is a difficult concept for him. Planet, well, I don't know if we're there yet. Need to show him that zoom through of the universe.

The flight team then uploaded files to the rover's remote electronics unit memory in preparation for the upcoming Sol 5 upgrade of Curiosity's software to optimize Curiosity for surface operations.

Interesting. From a project management point of view... make is capable of reciveing upgrades, launch it, develop software further for nine months.

Interesting, from a human exploration point of view... we frickin flashed firmaware on Mars!

Don't leave out Curiosity Rover "TOOK MY FIRST 360° IMAGE OF GALE CRATER YESTERDAY. * LIGHT BROWN ROCKS IN EVERY DIRECTION. WHAT A SURPRISE."

(That one believes in profanity as punctuation. Therefore, consider it NSFW.)

Its URL is a very subtle distinction from NASA's Curiosity on twitter. Be cautious.

Curiosity's first 360, clear and full panorama of Mars.

Amazing

Why does the location at the upper-right say "New Mexico"?

CONSPIRACY! IT'S ALL A FAKE!

It's unofficial and made by some guy in his spare time using some of the google APIs. I suspect that google maps does not have a setting for mars locations.

But what about http://www.google.com/mars/ ?

I'm pretty well convinced we've constructed a recording studio on the moon and are faking the Mars landing from there.

Fantastic!

No street view.

Picture of Curiosity from the Mars Orbiter. Blue is false color showing the blast pattern from the landing.

Making NASA cool. #Awesome

I have to tip my hat to NASA. They've done an excellent job utilizing social media to promote both NASA and the Curiosity Rover.

The Alan Parsons Project is a huge success. Now we have a Mars rover with freakin' laser beams...

High Res version. So much more awesome:

Indeed!

Someone should add the audio from the landing and sync it up with the touchdown.

The landing site has been named for Ray Bradbury.
