Saints Row The Third Catch-All

Ammo upgrades?

I upgraded the SMG to level 4 and it shoots fire bullets now. Is that what you mean? Or is there more?

ammo capacity upgrades is what I meant.

Ah, yeah, I've got level 3 of that. I need to rank up to level 50 before I can buy the fourth upgrade which gives infinite bullets.Currently rank 26.

I kinda stuck to the main quest line, which is totally against my side quest OCD. Guess I just wanted to see the crazy sh*t they came up with.

Some of the assassinations are pretty ridiculous.

Spoiler:

Provoke a target by streaking in front of a church? Gold.

I'm playing through a second time and taking upgrades based on taste. I could upgrade my shotgun to level 4, but I'd rather leave it at level 2 because I like the twin-barrel look instead of the triple. I could get "instant reloads" for all of my guns, but I kind of like my reload animations, which are super fast anyway. I could upgrade my flashbangs to level 4 but I kind of prefer them to the "fart in a jar."

Of course Volition could fix all of this by making upgrades toggles...

How does the game figure out which crib it spawns you at when you resume a save game? Just the closest to where you were when you quit previously? I seem to always spawn at the airport which is really annoying. Anyway to set your default spawn location to another location like the penthouse or something?

I think it's just the closest one. Good thing about spawning at the airport is you can just hop in a plane and get where you want to be.

New "content" drop: Unlockables Pack, for $1.99 or equivalent. Possibly even weaker than the Invincible Pack, which at least included cheats that weren't in the base game, the Unlockables Pack simply removes all of the reward choices from the game by giving you everything. I don't think it unlocks anything that isn't related to a choice (so you won't be able to buy all weapons from the get go), but it is the only way to unlock everything in the game on a single playthrough. It does seem to grant you rewards for missions you haven't completed yet, but that may be just because this is my second playthrough so the game knows I've already been there and done that.

If you're on PC, Steam finally got the Horror Pack as well. That's $2.99, and includes a zombie costume, "slasher" costume, and werewolf costume. It hit about two weeks ago on the consoles but didn't make it to Steam for some reason.

Just to stick my finger in the... air and see what way the wind's blowing, how do people feel about the way THQ handled the SR3 DLC and how well it did for them? I thought they made a big deal around the launch that they had 48 weeks of DLC (or whatever it was), but was it worth it?

They had three DLCs with actual content, which I played and enjoyed - and I almost never get single-player DLC. In that regard, their DLC was quite good.

The 48 weeks or whatever claim is totally stupid, imho, since it's mostly costumes and vehicles, etc. I haven't bought any of that.

I could have sworn the default female voice was Jennifer Hale, but it appears not. Sounds a lot like her.

I like that they keep putting content out, supporting their game. I don't like that the content is usually only a handful of items, and are usually overpriced. I also don't like that they promised "40 weeks of DLC" when what they meant is, "we'll release a piece of DLC at week 40, we promise, and probably some other stuff before then too we guess." The bigger chunks that came with the season pass were better, but also more expensive and full of fluff, like turret sequences that are twice as long as they need to be.

So I'm glad they did it but I wish they'd done it better.

This.

You're not the only one who thought so and looked it up.

You mean it isn't her? Wow, I was convinced it was.

So, how is the clones or gangstas in space dlc? I'm tempted as its on sale this week on Xbox live.

Fairly priced at full price and a great deal on sale - for SR3 fans. If you're having a great time playing the game and never want it to end, get 'em all, including (especially!) Genki Bowl VII.

If you're not having fun with SR3, put the money towards psychoanalysis or a colonic irrigation instead.

It's Laura Bailey, I believe.

Question about the DLC, I still haven't finished the first chapter, but I've got the missions available to go and do. Can I do them now, or just wait till after I finish the main campaign?

I would wait until you finish the campaign. At least one of them takes place after the finish of the game, and I think the other two probably do as well. They made sense to me in that context, anyway.

Ok, no worries. Think I may finish chapter 1 tonight. I've done about 5 of the vehicle theft missions... I'm not going to screw anything by progressing am I?

There is one vehicle theft that you need Stag to complete. Other than that you can't mess anything up.

Dammit, why isn't it home time already? I just want to play some Saints Row and have some fun.

I'd still try to get all the carjacking done before the mission:

Spoiler:

I am Cyrus Temple

They raise the bridges after that mission, which doesn't make it impossible to get from place to place but it does make it a lot harder with some vehicles. You don't want to try to ramp one of those bridges in a vault truck. It's just easier to get it out of the way first.

Thanks, good to know.

I finished off chapter 1 last night and did the first few missions of chapter 2. As for the way of ending chapter 1, I chose to:

Spoiler:

Blow up the building

I figured that's why I was there, so I may as well go ahead and do it.

Now I just need to save some money and buy the upgrades for the rocket launcher. Also, dual smg's is fun

I did the other thing. How did that affect the game?

Spoiler:

Is there a crater? A ruined building? Since I was running through the main storyline, I hadn't unlocked any other cribs, so I figured I'd keep it.

Oh wow, you know, I never thought to go check. I think it's still there as only the top half kinda disappears. I may have to go back and take a look.

It's less than half but yeah, the top is all torn up and smokey. There's nothing interesting in the wreckage, nor is it detailed very well.

Every time I intend to play through a few missions, I end up seeing more cars to put in the garage instead. My next goal is to boost a firetruck.

I did finally get to the end of Act 1, at least.

Spoiler:

Burt Reynolds as himself as the mayor? Check.

I now have to get my character some plastic surgery to look like Archer. She's gonna miss the boobs.

Don't worry, they'll be back!
