Prove me wrong, George! Please, for the love of God, prove me wrong!

When is "The Winds of Winter" coming out?! I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS.

I read somewhere (perchance here?) that Martin had a dinner with the two creators of the show where he outlined several plot points for them should he die before his books are finished.

The fact that he might even feel the need to do so really, really bums me out.

I thought I read somewhere that it was a contractual obligation for him to do so or HBO wouldn't do the series. Its not so much that he felt he needed to but that they felt he needed to.

Apparently someone showed him Robert Jordan's Wikipedia page.

2018.

Feel better now?

Seems like a good a place to post this as any.

May I present (Modern) Beef & Bacon Pie from A Feast of Ice and Fire. It's my first recipe ever involving a bacon mat.

Under Construction:

My only criticism is that all his character voices sound like gruff old men, which is great for the 80-something-percent of characters who actually are gruff old men, but sounds a little weird when it's, for example, Cersei.

That's in comparison to, say, the Harry Potter audiobooks by Stephen Fry, who does an excellent job of suggesting a feminine tone when speaking for female characters without getting into full-on falsetto Terry-Jones-as-Brian's-Mom territory.

Over here in the US, Jim Dale did the HP books. And did a pretty good job, too.

I thought about listening to the UK version but never got around to it.

I've listened to them both and much, much prefer listening to Stephen Fry. What can I say? British voice > American voice

I never heard the Jim Dale version until I accidentally got the wrong version of Book 7. For all I know he does a fantastic job, but after six books of the same guy there was no way I was making a switch. Stopped listening after five minutes, returned it, and got the Stephen Fry version.

Also it was nice not to have to mentally edit that "Sorcerer's Stone" nonsense in Book 1. Alliteration be damned, it's clearly the Philosopher's Stone.

HBO has just announced a new collector's edition of season one.

Might have to get this just for the digital copy that's included. Although the mini dragon egg is pretty cool too.

I'll pass since I all ready bought the original boxset. The egg is available separately in their store if I really wanted it. Plus, this will be the version that removes the severed Bush head from Episode 10 and I'd rather have the un-modified version of the show.

Speaks for itself.. new Season 3 cast members.

The only one I'm a bit iffy on is the Queen of Thorns. I get it that she's a legend and all that, but just not how I pictured her. Extremely happy to see Jojen and Meera in there and it will be interesting to see how they're introduced considering the changes that have been made. And now that we're getting more Tully's I'm guessing we'll finally get to see Riverrun next season.

Meera looks younger than I expected, Missandei older - - , Beric looked spot on. Expected a more exotic guy for Thoros, but that may be me just not committing his description to memory.

Wow, can't remember half the roles. I remember clearly the queen if Thorns and the frog children. Who are the rest?

Beric is the leader of the Brotherhood Without Banners and Thoros is the red priest that revives him continually. Missandei is the slave girl that Dany takes as her page/crier. Orell is the skinchanging wildling with the eagle, Brynden is Catelyn's uncle, Shireen is Stannis' daughter with greyscale. I think that's all of them.

Don't forget Jojen and Meera that were cut out of Season 2 but Season 3 can't really work without them. They help Bran.

That looks delicious. Was it?

It was. I might need to cut the beef smaller and use a thicker sauce so that it sets up better. I will say though that the bacon mat trumps all and was a lot easier to pull off than I thought.

Yeah, Thoros was a large black man as I recall.

I will be disappointed if Jake Rodkin isn't cast as Vargo Hoat with his Ed Wynn puffins voice.

Meet Mance Rayder. None other than Julius Ceasar! Oh, he also goes by Ciarán Hinds.

A pretty stellar choice I think.
