Well, you won't. New file!

It's looking like it might be a rematch of 2011 in the championship, as Charlotte and Vancouver have taken 3-1 series leads over Los Angeles and Pittsburgh, respectively. Pittsburgh managed to stay alive after a 15-inning thriller that they won 8-7. Vancouver, meanwhile, have lost SP Jim Phillips with a torn meniscus in his knee, knocking him out for the rest of the playoffs. Can Donald Ray shut the door, or are Pittsburgh going to mount an all-time comeback?

Charlotte, meanwhile, is rolling. They're 7-1 in the playoffs and 4-1 at home heading into Game 5, and are throwing 23-6 star Clayton Green at Los Angeles. The fat lady isn't singing, but she's just off-stage.

Charlotte was a beast all season, so I'm not terribly surprised.

New file!

The 2013 NABL Championship is set, and in a rematch of the 2011 Championship, Charlotte and Vancouver will face off again to see who is the #1 team in baseball. Can Charlotte claim revenge? Or can Vancouver's veterans nab their second title in three years?

If noone minds, i'll do the entire NABL Championship tomorrow, so we can hustle on to the post-season.

SNOOZE! How boring. I truly hope Vancouver gets crushed, but whatevs.

Good luck Pred! Show that computer owner what humans can do!

I'm waiting for the offseason that Vancouver falls apart under FA and massive contractual obligations and forced to go into rebuilding mode, just like the Yankees. Wait....

I figure I have another 2 good years with my core group of players. My high level prospects seem be to stuck in AA-level or lower so you can never tell with them.

Good luck, Pred.

The sooner Pred's pitching falls apart the happier I'll be.

Oh god, it's coming. My three best starters are 28, 33 and 33, and the latter two are on massive contracts for the next two years. If we can get a second title, I'm happy to fade back for 3-5 years while we reload and let someone else take the crown.

Pleasantly however, Vancouver did win the 2013 NABL title, beating Charlotte 4-1 to bring home the King's second championship. Miguel Angel Cortez and Jeremy Drew personally dominated Charlotte, winning games 1, 2, 4, and 5 to the combined tune of 31 IP, 20 Hits and 4 Earned Runs.

And that ends the 2013 NABL season! Up first on the docket! Personnel deals and Arbitration! Here comes the off-season!

Congrats! Way to represent the NL!

Commish wins again. Shocking.

Juuuuust kidding. Congrats.

Hey Pred, after you are done basking in your championship glory and comes down from your hooker-and-blow binge, would you kindly give a basic schedule of the offseason? Like how often you'd like to sim (current 3-times-a-week seems to work well) and how many days we are simming each time, etc.

This was a really fun season, mainly because the Pierogies did well, but I'm happy to see my GM moves coming to fruition. Hopefully I've laid enough groundwork there's more of it to come in the pipeline.

Looking forward to the offseason and the new season with more new human GMs.

I decided to give everyone a day. I've got a bunch of work today, so i'll reveal the Offseason schedule when I get home tonight.

New File!

THE OFFSEASON:

Okay, I have only simmed one day of the Offseason so everyone can make sure they have made their personnel offers and have prepped their Salary Arbitration sheets.

Starting Sunday, we will sim a week a day, every day until the new season starts, and after January 1st, will probably speed up to two weeks a sim.

Sims will stop* FOR:

1.) The beginning of Free Agency

2.) The Rule 5 Draft

3.) The Winter Meetings (We will sim each day of it individually, so owners can wheel and deal as they please).

* - When I say "the sim will stop" I mean if we're Simming the week of November 16th, and Free Agency begins on the 19th, I will sim up to the 19th so everyone can catch their breath and start making offers.

So the next sim will take us to December 2. After that, December 9, and the 16th, and so on.

Am I too late to join?

Not in the slightest! Drop me an e-mail at Prederick at gmail dot com and i'll fill you in on the details of how to join up! I'd also reccomend you download the league file or check the website and figure out which team you'd like to take control of.

So, new file! And new reports on the website! The current date is November 4, and Salary Arbitration will be by WEDNESDAY.

Quick question; is our development budget set to be static? I didn't see any option to change it, but thought we could change it during the offseason.

Also not sure why I lost my team's manager. I offered a generous extension during the playoffs but when I checked the new file yesterday he had left the team and I don't recall seeing a rejection message from him. Blargh! Hopefully the one I offered a contract to signs with me in his stead. I don't want to end up in the preseason with no manager!

I got hosed a bit when my offer to a manager and a bench coach (I gave them what they wanted!) was countered by another team and I didn't have a chance to counter myself before they accepted the other offer since the sim ran for so long. Now I have to scramble to find some crap manager and BC for next season

Maybe next year we can sim for less time right at the end of the season? Maybe once a week leading up to the FA period? Not sure what the best answer is since you cannot do much during this period but getting hosed because you are not able to see a candidate ask for more and then take another offer kind of sucks.

Far, you can adjust player development budget after the new year. I think it is just before spring training starts? Can't remember but I was able change it last year. Keep checking the Player Development screen and when you can change it, it will let you.

Nvm, looks like I was incorrect.

I wonder if this is the same thing that bit me, too.

It's just the way the sim works. Say you offered a manager a deal on Oct. 15 and then we sim to Nov. 15. The manager gets another offer during the sim and sends an email saying "hey, I got another offer, sweeten your deal" (say on Oct. 20), then a week goes by in sim-time and he doesn't hear anything from you. So, he accepts the other deal (after sending you an email saying "hey, I've accepted the other offer"). Then when you get to the next time you can play, it is Nov. 15 and all this is ancient history.

This is what happened in my case (dates made up because I am at work).

Check and you should have two emails from your manager candidate, one saying you need to make a better offer and another one saying that he took an offer from another team. If you don't, something else probably happened.

The only way to "fix" this is to sim for shorter periods. But there's not much else going on so I understand why the sim was for as long as it was; we all want to get to the "good parts" in the offseason. Just kind of sucks in mine (and presumably your) case. Like I say, maybe next year we could sim shorter right after the season. Or I could remember and ask, since I will probably be in the hunt for a manager and BC next year.

Well, the hitting coach said he liked my offer and preferred it. Then he said, I took another offer. No counter. I knew I should've raised it before we simmed.

Still, I stole Miami's manager and got an outstanding bench coach (as long as his ratings are for real since he's never coached in the ML).

Yup, that's what happened to me.

It also happened AGAIN to the replacement I tried to contract.

I'm... not happy.

Seems a consensus for the most part. Perhaps more sims next offseason, but do we know exactly when they make their decisions?

My apologies everyone, I thought we did things the same last year, and there wasn't a major issue with Personnel Hiring/Firing, but it certainly looks like the game makes the turnaround on Personnel decisions much faster than I'd thought, as opposed to FA decisions which can and do take weeks. I actually did the sim day-by-day this time around, and lost a new manager in less than 48 hours after he got another offer.

Agreed. Next year we'll cut the sim time down for the time leading up to the Arbitration hearings. It may even have to be a day at a time until everybody's signed the people they need.

New file though! I only simmed to the end of the Awards this time. Your Winners -

Rookie of the Year -

Southern League: William King, CF, Las Vegas.
Northern League: Loren Gill, 1B, Vancouver

Manager of the Year -

Northern League: Novocain, Pittsburgh.
Southern League: Farscry, Atlanta

Pitcher of the Year -

Northern League: Edgardo Abreu, Baltimore
Southern League: Clayton Green, Charlotte

Hitter of the Year -

Northern League: Ramon Gomez, LF, Vancouver
Southern League: Dale Tolbert, 3B, Dallas

Damn that Gomez. If it weren't for his incredible year Van Wright would've won the hitting award.

Um, yeah, that's a little ridiculous.

Don't take it personal Pred, I assumed this hadn't been a problem the league encountered previously, so my unhappiness isn't directed at you or anyone else within the league. Just at the best (crappy) manager I might be able to sign for my team now.

Here's hoping that the team manager doesn't actually make as big an impact on the team's performance as I fear...

Also, woot, I got an award! I was overall very happy with how things worked out for my inaugural year on my team, though a lot of it was frankly dumb luck.
