The Darksiders 2® Catch-All

According to my shipping page it's been sitting in Pennsylvania since Friday, so I don't guess it'll actually arrive tomorrow. Kind of a bummer but I'll be getting the Last Story right after work and Dust: An Elysian Tail on Wednesday, so I won't be upset if it doesn't arrive for a few more days.

Actually, its status says "Delivered". Makes me wonder. Anyone else get that? I'll drop them an email...

Digging in a bit to the seedier parts of the internet (GameFAQs, NeoGAF), I'm starting to worry that this might get messy.

That seems like fairly bad support straight from THQ's digital store. You do get the season pass, but that's no excuse, just a nice one!

Anyone know when this goes live? It's not a special midnight PST case, is it? Because that'd be great.

Yeah, the whole information flow from THQ is borked, imo.

When I follow the link off of my shipment confirmation email, it goes to this strange website titled Newgistics Shipment Manager.

There, it tells me I've got packages 1 through 4 under a single tracking number (but 4 different order numbers!) in 4 locations (MD, IL, TX, DC)...with the current location being MN. This info hasn't changed since I got the confirmation email and link on 8/3/12.

It's totally nonsensical.

To top things off, going directly to the USPS and entering the tracking number yields "file not found" results.

All and all, a pretty horrible tracking service being partnered with the THQ Shop and while I'm not going to cry about it (yet), I'll likely never be doing direct-buy business with them again.

That part, for me, depends on how this ends up. If I get my package tomorrow, or two days after, no big deal. If it turns out my stuff was delivered to a completely different state, then yes.

Those not getting a code, try putting your region as Europe.

There was a similar issue in Australia, and there was an FB update telling us to choose Europe as our region.

Are you trying for 360 or Steam? I know Steam keys were a bit off too, and they suggested sending a private message to the FB Page and they'd sort you out.

My 360 copy should be leaving the UK today, then with shipping, I won't have it for another 6-10 working days

On the plus side, I saved half off local RRP by importing, and I get that time to replay the original and unlock the Abyssal Armour. I still find it annoying that I lost my original save, but I'm interested to see what the DS1 save file unlocks in DS2 (I'm guessing that Armour will be the main thing that 'might' be transferable).

360. I sent a message to their support page and messaged the community manager who'd been handling this stuff on the official forums. I don't really know facebook well enough to use that method.

Yeah, I'm on the same page.

I'm not up in arms about it or anything, and a few days grace period is certainly in order. I just can't wrap my head around how obtuse the information flow is. I thought online package tracking was a nut that had been cracked years and years ago. I've never seen a more confusing tracking system than what I'm witnessing here.

Good deal.

Keep us posted if you hear anything of interest.

I agree, but I guess this is the product of THQ cutting costs where they can manage. The non-fee deliveries are apparently being made by UPS, my preferred carrier, whose tracking is almost always accurate and timely.

1am EST is the set unlock time. Here's to adventure!

Damn. I thought it was midnight and was planning on staying up for an hour.

According to BadKen and the official forum it's midnight eastern.

See, now you get it an hour earlier!

Guess that'll be my cue to get out of this thread for a while. Have fun guys. I'll grab it at a sale soon I'm sure.

Go, go, go!

got my season pass from the THQ store but I still have no idea when I may get the game though I am tempted to go to walmart this week and pick up the dual pack they have at walmart with Darksiders 1 and 2.

Anyone else activate the preorder DLC? I got the emails and added the keys to steam, but instead of "Argul's Tomb" DLC, it shows that I have a "Crucible Pass". From what I understand, Crucible mode is a combat-only arena mode, and Argul's Tomb is the first DLC pack, which will "include significant new single player content" according to the THQ press release. So I wonder if the "Crucible Pass" includes the Argul's Tomb DLC, or what?

I have a support ticket with THQ asking about this, but based on previous performance, I'm not holding my breath for an answer.

First impressions are good. Not about the PC port, though. It the same barebones shell we got for the first game. I love the updated artistic style, and the animations are much improved (Lips leave something to be desired, but I can wave it off as a fantasy setting-thing.) The art now looks closer to the natural end of the natural-to-cartoon scale, whereas I'd say the first had the opposite look.

I think I much prefer the first's tutorial, both in structure and setting. The game starts giving very good impressions after that. I ended entering the first dungeon, but the area before that reminded me of the best part of SotC, the open field. Oh, also found my first purple gear before stopping. Alright, RPG stuff!

Man, I almost forgot DS2's homage! I don't know if anyone remembers how closely Darksiders felt like a Zelda inspiration, but this time they've taken the same inspiration from PoP 2008. The only thing it's missing are claw marks on the walls!

Any news on what previous game saves unlock or influence?

My keys were waiting for me in my e-mail this morning, so no preloading but at least THQ got me my product nice and early on the release date. Still no word back about my Facebook axe. Took them 10 minutes to ask me for my location and platform, I replied immediately, and nothing since.

Not a big deal. I rarely end up using pre-order items in loot games anyway.

Really looking forward to this game when I can...you know...afford it. I really enjoyed the first game and the looty mechanics + PoP 2008 mechanics are both things that I enjoy. I really liked the traversal of PoP 2008 but I found the combat to be really really meh.

Like the first game this one looks like a combination of mechanics that I enjoy AND are fairly rare on PC. I own a PS3 but rarely play console aside from co-op with my family so genres that are overdone on console are exciting to me when they come to PC because I am not as fatigued on those.

Can't wait for this to go on sale in...like...a year. :/

Until then I live vicariously through you!

Yea the best thing about the combat in PoP 2008 was getting there fast enough to one hit them before the fully activated.

This game appears to be getting some pretty good reviews with the exception of the PS3 version being kind of buggy according to Kotaku.

There are a lot of people experiencing stuttering and graphical issues (PC). Mostly seems to stem from an iffy vsync implementation. From what I've read, it's recommended you disable it. Which you need to restart the game to do. The same for resolution. I can't remember the last game where you had to do that.

Also, who decided it was smart to hide the keybindings in the corner of a moves list? It's not very smart.

Found it.

Players who played the first Darksiders will unlock the Pauldron of the Horsemen in Darksiders II. This level 5 legendary armor piece boosts all Death’s stats as well as his critical damage. Gamers who have finished the game on any difficulty will also earn a level 1 legendary scythe called the Chaos Fang which will boost Death’s damage and critical damage.

From my experience over the last two days, Batman: Arkham City makes you do this, and also hides the graphics settings in a launcher program that's a pain to find, plus has unskippable logo movies.

Following up, it does look like preorder deliveries have become a mess. Doubly irritating because half the people seemed to get it way back on Friday.

Thank you for contacting the THQ online store.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

We are having some issues with most of our customers who preordered the
Darksiders®.

We advised you to please allow until 08/16/12 to get the as this would
be the new estimated release date of the product. You will also get
another email notification by that day the item will be shipped.

We appreciate your patience.

"We screwed up so we're changing the release date so that we didn't really screw up."

Doesn't work that way, THQ.

Eh, they were pretty clear when I preordered that it could be a couple days late or early. I get the feeling English isn't "Sarah M.'s" first language, either.

Hmm, I hope this applies to PC too (I presume it just checks for save game data). Guess I ought to get off my lazy butt and play Darksiders.
