The finish on that thing is really nice. After seeing those, I think I could make a serious case to my fiance that we should aim at getting one for our eventual dining room table. Don't even need the fancy drawers, but would totally want the felt top and the cup holders.

I was able to sell my wife on it...but we don't have room.

So, how many levels of a heroscape map can fit in the game board space, with the tabletop on, concealing it?
I know, I'm the only one interested in how a decades old, discontinued game, fits into the new table.

They sell different sized tables... including coffee tables that can host standard table sized legs...

You can get vaults of varying depths, but I think the max is around 4" or so IIRC.

Oh believe me, I tried all of those angles. I think we do have room for the coffee table one but she disagrees.

Man that is sweet. Here's to many years of gaming on it!

That is a magnificent table, Hedge. Congratulations! I aim to pick one up myself when we move into a bigger house.

Man I'm jealous. I saw Geek Chic at PAX a few years ago and have been wanting one ever since. My wife's set on getting a new dining table, so here's hoping....

Not really, there's no way we'd ever be able to spend that kind of cash on a table. Still jealous.

I think I may have just talked the S.O. into our new coffee table when the current one bites the dust. Must resist the urge to be careless with current table.

It would be a terrible shame if it suddenly caught fire. Or suffered from a severe axe attack.

I got a mustache.

Useless without pics. I've seen your hot wife's mustache. Time for you to pony up!

You're talking to wordy, so remember it's "from whom?"

From it! Corporations take the neuter, singular pronoun.

The mustaches are from Geek Chic (and Haywire). There will be pictures at some point, I suppose.

She no longer disagrees. Bringing her to the Geek Chic booth at PAX was very helpful.

I was >< THIS close to putting down money on a Emissary table at PAX this weekend, then sobered up and realized I don't have anywhere to put it while our house is remodeled. Missed out on the 10% discount, sad.

My question to Hedgewizard: How do you like the size of your table? Sitting at the 4x6' Emissary at PAX, it's obviously great for mini games or larger wargames, when the leaves/top is off, but i worried that it might be a bit wide for board games with the leaves in place. How does it feel when you're looking across that gaming expanse?

I really like their chairs too, very comfy.

yeah, their chairs are very nice. Was going to buy a couple of them, but the price was too prohibitive.

My table is large. Which as you suggest, is both awesome, and problematic. It's nice because I can actually have two games running at once (during parties) at both ends. Problematic if you have people sitting opposite each other on the long end of the table. That is fine for RPGs, but not how I would handle 2-player games, or 3-6 player board games.

When we play a 3-6 player game, we all move down to one side and it's very comfortable. Cory & I (and others) have played a handful of 2 player games (Zombicide, Star Trek: Fleet Captains, etc.) and sitting across form each other on the width side has been fine. For most board games, I wouldn't actually sit with people at the 6 positions; rather I'd scoot everyone down to one end or another, and there is PLENTY of room for 6 to have space & reach the table.

Part of what allowed me to go with the 4x6 table is that we found a house we could afford with an extra room large enough to accommodate it. Otherwise, I would have likely gone with something a little smaller. More on the 3.5x5 side.

Another great benefit to having a large table: for my projects I can truly spread out. Or I can have a game running on one end, and the kids playing/crafting at the other.

I put down the deposit on a Minimalist at PAX. God help me.

I......am really envious! That table looks great!

WOOHOO! GeekChic fist bump!

That's a gorgeous table! What are the dimensions?

Just out of curiosity, do they make counterheight tables, or are they all standard height? I'd like to try and sell my wife on them at some point, but if it's not counterheight, replacing chairs will make it a rough proposition.

They do whatever you want - coffee table, regular table, counter height, bar height, whatevs. Some models support swapping legs out so you can change the table.

I got mine at counter-top height (36").

Finally got the Vizier in from Geek Chic, loving this thing! 8 player Stations with flip down desks, drawers and cup holders/tile trays.Heck, if you're looking for a replacement dining room table and have a cool significant other, you might be able to get away with one of these.

Game nights have a lot more room now, I just need to get a nice light above it to complete the functionality. Side note: If you're thinking of getting something from GC and get wine-glass holders, you should ask if they fit normal sized glasses. Unfortunately it didn't work on this table and have to send them back.

It's a big'un, (Size: 8 Stations- 4' x 7' interior, 5' x 8'2" exterior) lemme pull the process questionnaire and post it here. Although these orders take forever (I put mine in Feb 1st), they really pay attention to detail and the level of customization is insane. They could probably build one of these 2' off the ground with purple wood if you wanted it that way.

Style - Vizier
Foundation
Primary Wood - Walnut (to match my bar)
Secondary Wood - Maple (Inlay)
Finish: Natural
Size: 8 Stations- 4' x 7' interior, 5' x 8'2" exterior
Height: Table height
Legs: Rounded, Table Height

Enhancements
Hardware: dark antique

In the Vault
Vault Floor: Bamboo
Printing: 2 Acetate (1 Grid, 1 Hexes)

Game Keepers
Leaves: Widthwise
Leaf Guards: 2
Fabric Lid: Light burgundy velveteen.

Boosters
Cup Holders: (Locking) 8
Wine Holders: (Locking) 4
Counter Holders: 2
Bins: 6 8.5"x3.5"x2" - Lined in matching Burgundy Velveteen

What's showing in most of the pics is the fabric lid on the table, but it's easily flippable to a pretty invulnerable "craft surface" on the other side (great for the wife's scrapbooking, and mini-painting/model making, etc..) The lid is removable and you've got a drop floor (down about 4") to a bamboo sub-floor with an acrylic layer above it.

You can lift that up to put maps/hex grids/anything underneath it and have the ability to draw in on it with dry erase markers. We use it for our monthly D&D games, then just cover it back up with the giant lid, or the individual wood leaves. Which when on makes it look just like a nice (albeit slightly thick) dining room table.

The flip down player tables are pretty sturdy too, no looseness in the construction, it's top quality construction. I'm somewhat surprised there aren't any competitors in the market.

I'll try and get a pic of it with the leaves on, very classy look.

I may not have that table, but I think I have that tripod.

Yeah - I got the lid as well for the same reasons. So versatile! It is my... precious!

I'm not seeing the Minimalist on their website. Is it new?

Whenever I finally have kids, I think one of these is going to be mandatory if any kind of gaming is ever going to happen. the ability to "pause" a game in mid-stream, put the lid on, and have a functional table again will probably be huge.

One of the models I looked at had a LEGO insert so you could do the same with a LEGO project. Perfect for the kids too.
