There is a Penny-Arcade for every moment.

This is kind of cool.

GameSpot put a series of 5 YouTube videos together titled Darksiders Playthrough Highlights.

It combines select cutscenes and gameplay from the first game that covers the full story arc if you want to bone up before the release of DS2. Clocks in at under 2hrs.

Thanks a ton for alerting me to these videos. Just what the doctor ordered to get me back in the spirit.

Good to see Tiamat being a huge pain in the ass again <,<

Yeah, looking over my Achievement list, it looks like I finished Darksiders Oct. 2010. While I remember enjoying the game full-stop, it wasn't until going back over these GameSpot vids that I realized just how bad-ass the story really was.

I'm pretty pumped for DS2. I know that both the geographical scope and gameplay depth have seen significant upgrades so if the story elements can keep pace I'll be pleased as punch.

Still waiting on my order to process so I can pre-load. Guess that'll learn me for ordering from some no-name 3rd party website. By which I mean "directly from THQ."

One thing I never got about the story in DS1 is why he needed the angel lady to kill him. Best I can figure is that he needed to break his ties to The Watcher or the Charred Council. Any other ideas?

Earlier in the game Uriel and War formed a death oath, which is apparently a pretty meaningful bond. Once they find out that they're not actually enemies, because War didn't kill Abaddon, they're still stuck in the death oath. She kills him to fulfill it, then breaks the seventh seal, knowing that triggering the Apocalypse would revive him.

It would also seem that this was part of War's plan, as Uriel points out after War kills the Watcher. He knew he was boned even after the business with Abaddon was sorted, but now he has the other Horsemen to help.

I think his sentence from the Counsel was passed when the angel killed him, thus freeing him of any further obligation from them.

I remember him telling the Counsel at the start of the game that if he "failed" in Earth-realm, then the Angels will carry out The Council's death-sentence for them.

EDIT:

I like Blind_Evil's version better than mine. :p

Actually that part is important too, and it had slipped my mind.

Uh... huh.

If you don´t put what the code is, we can´t steal it from you. Do you even know how this works?

I sent them a message on Facebook about it and they've already responded, so maybe they'll help me out.

Then I sent a message on the THQ website about how crap it is. I'm not sure if they got that message because the website is so crap. I really want to support them but they are not making it easy. I don't think I'm ever going to order direct again.

I was going to wait on this, but I'm about to get rid of a bunch of 360 and some PS2 games. Gamestop has a 30% trade in bonus toward DS2. I might take the games down there and see what they'll get me toward a copy.

I find it so hard to give up my PS2 games still...I mean, they were some of the best I've played. My heart nearly fell out when my Mom sold our old SNES in a garage sale...I don't think I have the strength to endure another departure like that. Nope. My PS2 will remain with me for all eternity. I've decided.

On actual OP issues, I'm getting this tomorrow on the PS3. What are you all choosing? PC? XBOX360? PS3?

Mine's on the 360, and my sons are both doing a geeky potty-dance for it. I'm already planning on cooking a full recipe of whatever for dinner for tomorrow, because they're both going to be nailed to my couch.

360 as well. Really hoping that it will be waiting for me when I get home from work tonight.

360. My widdle laptop can't run it and I don't have a PS3.

I'll likely sell the 360 version and pick it up on Wii U when it comes out.

I think I deleted the fake one I used for 50 more friends on Steam... oh well...

Thanks. I knew my fake Facebook account would come in handy.

Edit: Annnnd just like Lobster a code didn't appear

The Facebook thing worked fine for me.

This is where being hostile and anti-social towards all things social media comes back to bite me in the bumm.

My twitter account is the product of an awry Borderlands promotion, my Facebook from Dragon Age 2. Hah.

The twitter one was actually a blessing in disguise. I like twitter way more than Borderlands.

Out of interest, because I won't be getting DS2 soon, for anyone who's done a replay recently, how well does DS1 stand up to a second playthrough?

The challenge mostly goes out the window but it is still fun. For the record I just finished my 3rd play-through last week. I did it twice back-to-back when it first came out.

Still no serial number from THQ.

I also got a blank page when I tried getting the axe.

Maybe I'll be playing this game some time next week. They did take my money and all.

EDIT: THQ got back to me on facebook - the facebook person said the Steam keys will be going out at 9 PM PST.
