The Binding of Isaac

Are they looking into putting it only on PS3 or do you think it would be on the PSN as downloadable for the Vita as well?

There's been little detail on it aside from some vague statements on McMillen's formspring account, so no idea on the platform aside from Sony having interest in the project.

I couldn't imagine this game on a tablet because so far every dual stick game I've played on a touch screen has controlled terribly. Vita would definitely be ideal.

Got my BB Isaac run in finally. All I have left is The Purist.

Noooooooooooooo!

Got to Mom for the first time and got her down to 20%. That was my 20th death.

Finally got a chance to really dive into Wrath of the Lamb today, and all I got to say is that The Tick can die in a fire.

Sooooo many good combos/pickups wasted because of inadvertent pickups of The Tick.

the tick is awesome. Most of the trinkets are pretty rubbish.

Yeah, I always pick up the tick because most of the trinkets aren't better.

If you want to talk inadvertent pickups, I've had runs ruined because I picked up a dead cat that popped out of a red chest.

Yup. I hate that SO MUCH.

The Purist challenge is done. I got Epic Fetus and Book of Revelations early and sleepwalked through it. The only room that gave me trouble was a boss fight against Wrath, which was tricky since he was faster than I was in his second form. I dropped a bomb behind me which slowed him up enough for one more hit to kill him. Everything else was cake.

Spoiler:

I now need to do The Chest runs with everyone except Isaac.

*sigh*

Woohoo! Got my first Mom kill after 26 deaths.

Congrats! Now do it again (and again, and again, and again...)

This really isn't what I'd consider 'my kind of game' but it seems to have me hooked. It's taken me a while to get what's going on and I've started unlocking more powerful items. One question: How does Brimstone work? It seemed to just stop me from firing.

You should just have to hold down a direction to charge, and then let go. And as a pro-tip, you don't have to wait for the firing animation to finish to start charging again. Instead, you should let go and then immediately push the key again to start charging for your next shot right away.

I remember at one point the Wrath of the Lamb expansion had a bug that made brimstone completely worthless, but I think it has been patched since then. So if the above doesn't work for you, then I'm not sure what might be wrong.

Nope, if you try to start charging it again before the firing completes, you stop shooting. Your character will start flashing when charged, and you can build up charge prior to entering a room.

Don't certain holy items still break brim-win-stone?

Brimstone won't fire until you're fully charged though (or am I misremembering that?)

That's correct. You hold down a fire button to charge. When your character flashes you release the fire button and your character will shoot a laser for two seconds, unless you press a fire button which will begin a new charge but stop your current shot.
I don't know if some items still break it, but it's been nerfed significantly. I avoid it now unless I have at least two familiars and can fly.

Ok Thanks. I was trying to fire as normal to no effect. That explains it :).

One more challenge to go. Stupid Nine Lives, grrrr! I made it to mom with Mr. Fetus before screwing up. Bleh.

Just killed Mom on my 36th attempt. I had half a heart left.

I need a rest now.

Ah! I stand corrected. From The Binding of Issac wiki:

Note: another shot can be charged during the attack animation of the first. To attack at maximum speed, release to attack and then instantly start holding again to fire about a second after the first blast is done. As of v1.48, this appears to have been changed. If you begin charging Brimstone while firing, the shot will be cancelled.

So it appears that functionality has been taken away. Guess I haven't picked up Brimstone recently enough to notice.

I have to finish up my Chest runs yet. I got Cain today, which leaves Judas, Eve, Blue Baby, and Samson.
I do have all the challenges done though, so getting item rooms seems much easier now.

Judas and Eve are done. That leaves Samson and Blue Baby Chest runs left

So, I don't know a lot about this game. First thing I couldn't figure out, though- so is there no save game? If I want to play the game I have to go until I die or else just forfeit what I've done? If I found a collectible would that save if I quit at least?

Also, no issues with joytokey? I don't have this but I've heard controller is a preferred method of play.

You can't save your progress on a single run. A single run should take about an hour on average. Your progress in terms of unlocking items and characters is saved across runs. The ultimate goal of the game is really to unlock everything, which requires multiple runs.

Also, I've had no problems with using a keyboard. The mouse however has caused me to double post.

I played pretty extensively with both and mapping a controller made the game significantly easier for me. YMMV.

Definitely YMMV, I tried doing the 360 controller, but I found that using the stick wasn't accurate enough, and with the Dpad I couldn't be quite as quick/accurate as my keyboard. I hate to admit it, but I originally bought my mechanical keyboard with 20-key rollover specifically for Isaac because my previous one didn't register all my inputs with WASD+arrows.

Finally finished Large Marge the other day, crikey that was a long run. Need to do Issac Was Good Today and The Purist to clear off the challenges, but I haven't unlocked Sheol yet so that's going to take a bit. Still haven't seen a good number of the DLC unlocks, and Steam says I've already dumped 215 hours into this game, although I'm sure I've left it running in the background for a sizeable chunk of that.

I got Joy to Key for this game, but ultimately came to the conclusion that the keyboard was more responsive overall.
