What old PC game do you want Kickstarted from the grave?

As for Simcity 2k, you can get that from GoG on the cheap currently.

You can get both Crusaders at the same place

But to everyone who said Freespace, behold!

Yeah we have a Freespace topic, and it's also been mentioned in the Space Games catch-all a few times.

Grim Fandango

Master of Magic. No game since has even come close.

Killing Cloud.

A poisonous fog has rolled in on San Francisco. You are
A cop who flies a hover pod armed with three nets. You have missions to apprehend criminals flying around, principally by catching their craft with nets. Then you interrogate, with a budget of years of incarceration. You sometimes have to offer them a plea deal, and if you're not careful you'll end up releasing them by "spending" their prison terms.

Played in my Amiga 500, but never completed it.

Crusader would be a good choice too. But not as a stupid FPS.

Glad to see I'm not the first to want another Planescape: Torment. About the most memorable game I've ever played. But I do wonder whether this was due more to the story (likely) or the world in which it was set. I'm really a sucker for RPGs from that era.

Other suggestions upthread that I'd support: Alpha Centauri, maybe NOLF. I remember the sequel being noticeably weaker than the first, however, and that makes me hesitate.

I've almost bought Alpha Centauri from gog.com a few times, but AFAIK, they don't include the expansion, and that's held me back.

I'm not the biggest mod user around, but I'd like to see Morrowind updated with the mechanics and engine that Skyrim uses. I remember playing Morrowind way back when and feeling ridiculous running and jumping around everywhere. I love all TES games, but simplifying the cluttered mechanics of Morrowind (such as the number of pieces of armor to wear) was really a step in the right direction.

I helped my friend played Crusader No Remorse. I love Weasel! "I hate those."

I'd want an isometric, ala Diablo 3, Crusader, with all the modern fixins.

Sounds like the old Nintendo Game and Watch title, Fire.

It's the first Nintendo game I ever owned, and I'd love to nab one for nostalgia's sake, but those things are insanely priced on eBay.

Thanks. Aaron D. If I cannot play my old version in green and black glory maybe I can find anemulator for the "fire" game. Activate waste my afternoon in 10, 9, 8, 7...

It's probably here somewhere.

Starlancer and Freelancer. Hell, I'd kill for a legal digital copy of the original, let alone a proper remake.

Everyone who hasn't said System Shock 2 is objectively wrong.

Playing it right now, I feel SS/SS2 are games that don't need a remake/follow up. They need the GOG treatment so that people can get their hands on them and run them without trouble.

Besides, there's there's this company in Boston making some "infinite" game...

Like others have said, it could use a graphics/tech refresh. I've got them from GoG as well.

My point was that someone wanted it revived with no change; that's already been done.

Yeah, I'd settle for a digital release of SS2. A few updated models and textures would be sweet though.

Darklands, I have wanted this for years!

+1 to the opening post suggestion of Covert Action, I'd add Sword of the Samurai, another microprose classic.

+1 to Castles, they were great games I spent way too many hours in.

Most of mine have already been mentioned, but let's hear it for

AD&D gold boxes
TIE Fighter
Elite (or maybe Elite 2:Frontier, which I really loved)
Crusader

There was actually supposted to be more in that series but Digital Anvil got the axe first. Clearly a Privateer, Starlancer, Freelancer re-boot would be just unbelieveable.

I have never understood why Tie Fighter has never re-emerged, that was one of the greatest PC games of all time. You could take the original game update its graphics and sound and re-release it and it would be a killer.

Starflight is another one someone mentioned that I had totaly forgot about, I loved that back in the day.

Here is one obscure title I am sure no one has ever heard of. Mars Saga \ Mines of Titan

Back when I had my C-64 Mars Saga (It was called Mines of Titan on PC) was my intro into RPG gaming. I wish there was more games that looked and sounded like this today.

I can only imagine it's pin-in-the-map decision making at LucasArts, the titles they've cancelled and greenlit.

Same here. There was one interrogation I never seemed to be able to crack. Never did figure out what I was doing wrong. It was probably the second to last mission, there weren't that many missions if I recall correctly.

Soo many to list, but off the top of my head:

+1 isometric Syndicate
Master of Orion
Shogo Mobile Armour Division
Dune 1 and Dune 2
Jagged Alliance 2 (I know they tried recently but I'm talking about an enhanced version of 1.13)
Pirates! Gold (again I know they tried a couple of years back to resurrect the IP but something more in line with its spiritual predecessor)

I just want my Maniac Mansion and Zak McKracken to get a treatment a la Monkey Island. Is that too much to ask?

Grubber788 wrote:

I'd enjoy those too but only if they really toned down the amount of whining from squadmates in Starlancer.

Re: the Master of Orion love - I feel like its successor space 4x games are holding up their end of the bargain (just this year alone, look at FTL, Endless Space & Sins: Rebellion).

Actually it would be awesome for the old Indiana Jones games to be given the Monkey Island remake treatment.

Of course it won't happen, but I'd love to see Microprose's Magic the Gathering. I really loved the overland Shandalar style for playing.

We have a thread around here somewhere with the information. Basically it was being teased after the Monkey Island remakes/rereleases, and then before the announcement ever came, LucasArts changed presidents. And it never happened. All around 2009-ish?

Ah... here it is

I toss my vote Covert Action's way. I still have the 3.5" disc, and copied it onto my computer to protect the data, but it doesn't run. I loved that game - sneaking into offices, tapping phones, following cars and the occasional shootout. Great, great game and it could be really updated well.

I was thinking the same thing! The Duels of the Planeswalker stuff is weaksauce compared to the old Mircroprose version.

This. I would love an update of that game for modern platforms, and would open my wallet pretty wide to make it happen.

The Battletech Cresent Hawk games.
Ancient Art of War
Defender of the Crown
