Some refuse to go and will be crushed accordingly.

You people are keeping this PS newb completely confused. I just want a group to play with.

I'd think you would look good in red and black.

Call me crazy but i found myself gravitating towards the Gauss rifle when playing NC. At least I think that is what their faction specific machine gun was called. It was a toss up for me between that Gauss and the Vanu laser rifle (pulsar) for my favorite stock weapon when every big ticket item was on cooldown. I am a little fuzzy on the +/- of the weapons but I recall the Gauss being slightly more accurate at long range and did more damage. But the pulsar had a longer range and bigger ammo clip? It could be that the pulsar was more accurate but not by much.

Plusar was very accurate with a low cone of fire and with a high drop-off in damage over distance. Gauss had greater damage but really had a big cone of fire if you even moved slightly. Range-wise, i think all three factions were equal with respect to their main rifles but TR and NC had no (or hardly noticeable) drop-off of damage. I remember picking off downed pilots or lone troopers as they scurried across hills trying to get to safety or back to the action.

I remember stuff I haven't even done yet. Stuff like Planetside 2. I remember how I will pick off 10 guys on my team by accident with a tank shell. I'd like to apologize now to players one through 10 for fragging them.

Ha! Shows how much YOU know, TR scum! If they're in your squad there'll only be 9 of them!

Unless, of course, you're talking about the entirety of the TR membership.... in that case, you're perfectly accurate on the numbers

I'm pretty sure TR membership capped out at 100% of the Goodjers that will be playing PS2.

Have they said anything with regards to how they are handling friendly fire in PS2. I recall that being a source of frustration, especially the lag induced variety. I had no problem keeping my number in check, but there were real intolerable asshats in your faction that would throw around accusations should you sneeze in their direction.

Plus there was all that stuff about tking some loner who was capping a base because your squad wanted the credit. And same faction griefers despawning AMS to eff with people (or because you were in their spot).

Friendly fire is on according to devs. They said they want to curb grenade spam and like activities. They also said they will be dealing with TKers and griefers. How? Have no idea.

Friendly fire is a must-have in my opinion. One of the many things that set PS1 apart from the garden-variety shooters.

There's a vent channel now for planetside2 so folks can discuss their hopes and dreams about ps2.

If anyone wants they can call me up and listen to my heavy excited panting.

Watching, looks fun, now where my damn beta key already. Also wish he went more in vehicles.

Edit: Now its over. Darn gotta sleep then.

When I play PS2 my profile pic and my real face will fuse together and become one happy maniacal giggle ball.

For those of us still waiting:

I like the Firefly/SC2 twang

World's worst sniper? I don't want to be on the same team as this guy... let's go TR.

World's worst sniper? I don't want to be on the same team as this guy... let's go TR.

The funny thing is that is the exact feelings I had after watching totalbiscuit's videos. They were having a blast and completely bumbling. That they would encourage more people with similar skill sets and end being more kills for me.

That may sound elitist but it is of course dependent upon my fps skills not atrophying in 8 years... (not likely) So I guess I am praying that I am still better than them ;P

To be honest, I never went with any sniper weapons in a non-single player FPS as they need to tend to make them less lethal than they would be in real life in order to affect balance. IRL (TM) a sniper would have outright killed every single infantry he targeted and hit in that video.... however, that's not fun (TM) and everyone would want to be a sniper.

Hell, even a full-on tank round only took his stealth-armoured ass down to 1/3 health....

I could be coerced to play TR but Vanu.....never!!!! Filthy purple Barney freaks.

I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE ISSUE WITH THE EGREGIOUS CLAIMS YOU’VE MADE IN A PUBLIC FORUM AGAINST THE TERRAN REPUBLIC
As a so called “punk” who will be participating in the military campaigns of the Terran Republic in the upcoming PlanetSide game, I would like to respectfully disagree with the comments posted onto this board by Guest3543.

As you can see by the manifesto on the website, the Terran Republic is dedicated to preservation of order and maintenance of peace and prosperity -- values that hardly “bite azz” when viewed objectively.

The poster also inferred in his writing that the skills of the Terran Republic would be sub-par when held against that of the New Conglomerate team. Again, while it is purely speculative, I would be inclined to disagree. Terran Republic trucks with both rocket launcher and machine gun mounts are capable of such ferocious acts of destruction that any significant action on the field of battle will cause even hardened New Conglomerates to call into question the very ICEY HOTNESS of which they boast.

Totally agree about the Vanu Sovereignty smacktards, though.

"the Terran Republic is dedicated to preservation of order and maintenance of peace and prosperity"

Peace through superior firepower. Nothing says John Lennon like nuking a heavily populated orphanage from orbit.

I know the feeling. I plan on playing Vanu as well. Though to be honest, I think the female Vanu in the trailer are a bit, nay, a lot, curvier than their in-game counterparts.

Edit: On a related note. If I can't do exactly what that NC soldier did, I'm going to be disappointed.

That's how I feel about every videogame.

Spoiler:

Ok, maybe not. But I'd like to be able to jump from Galaxy to Galaxy.

I'm sure you'll be able to. I'm also sure that you will die from the impact.

I will be flying one of those sweet-looking Vanu fighters and when it gets shot down I will let loose my sniper rifle and/or knife in the back.

I look forward to being able to actually give useful recon in a game when my loadout is called Recon.
It's amazing that in such a relatively short time we have enough of this type of game so that I know my pattern.
Honestly though I'm gonna try every weapon, I'd love to take a Liberator to the sky!
Could a swarm of MAX's take on a couple of tanks? That sounds like fun.

Anybody want to play some Section 8: Prejudice while we wait (so sad that it was ahead of its time and/or the project wasn't large enough in scope)?

I hope I live long enough to play a game that plays just like that. Planetside 2 looks awesome, but yeah it's not quite at that level yet...

Completely off-topic, but does anybody have like a youtube link or something with that cartoon from mtv in the 90s on liquid television or maybe just between commercials where it was two sides with battling "heroes" (in the rts sense) who would go on a killing streak in the hundreds before being killed by a different "hero" and doing the same to the other side?
The style was just like Aeon Flux.
