The Secret World

I've been on in the evenings and weekends, but mostly have not seen people on in the evenings. I guess I should fire up voice.

I've been playing a lot of CK2 and not The Secret World, but knowing that guilds are cross-realm is interesting to me. I've seen posts about the Illuminati faction and the Templar faction, but is there also a Dragon faction? I must of missed the post if there is. I'd be interested in knowing who is in charge of it and how to get invited in. It's quite a fun game so far, but I'm still in Kingsford, so I'm sure it gets even better!

The Dragon cabal (guild) is "Gamers with Jobs." Just drop your name on here, and someone will find you ;P

I got wrapped up in the new job and a 100 ton mech so I haven't played as much as I like. I would like to reiterate that I-95 in Northern Va is the devil.

Edit: come to think of it a 100 ton mech with a nice energy load out is exactly what I-95 needs.

My vote is the stretch through Conn as my own special hell.

I live in Meriden so get to skip out on the awesomeness (Sarcasm tag) that is 95. 91 and 15 are a bit better. 95 is definitely an evil highway.

Oh no... the Cross Bronx is even more special! It's the special hell that Shepherd Book was talking about...

Dragon faction here... request add into GWJ cabal.

nick is "Jonger"

When headin to the homeland I skip that section entirely. Tappan Zee for the win.

One of the nicest things about my recent move is no longer having to drive the Bruckner/I-95 corridor to get to work.

Tappan Zee for the $14 loss.

Holy crap.

Well, its still worth it compared to crossing the GW

Wow.. what a great game. Such a nice departure from WOW and its many clones.

This is something I might even sub for a while. Love the atmosphere and story lines.

Have been trying this out for the free weekend and I'm really impressed, this is shaping up to be the first MMORPG I ever subscribe to. I've played free trials and betas, but nothing before TSW has captured my interest enough to pay for. I'm a little lost among all the genre jargon that everyone playing seems to be fluent in, but so far I've been doing fine solo.

Glad you guys like. I wonder why some gwj gents on twitter complained on it being clunky, etc.

The starting zone has been much laggier this weekend but of course that is due to the free weekend.

I hope to see both of you around, this game certainly is something special. I'm still unsure about my decision, which is near ludicrous given context, but I just signed up for a lifetime subscription.

Karmajay, I've haven't seen those tweets, but are they referring to the combat? I've found that most people that don't take to the game have a problem with how static the combat can seem, especially early on.

Servers are going down for an hour, but as a result, they're extending the free weekend by 6 hours. FYI.

Good! I need three more quests to hit 30. I am assuming that repeat quests count. I'll double check when I cross the threshold. Have I mentioned how much I love the writing in this game??

The NPCs are so very awesome

Repeat quests do count. All of my quests this weekend have been repeat quests, and I'm down on the leaderboard as having 75 done.

Got my 1200 points. Now, what vanity item do I want?

Well, signed up for the lifetime sub. First time I've ever done that!

Woot!!!

The more the merrier!

Welcome aboard RedWing

I'm so tempted to buy a lifetime sub and I've never even played the game. Ugh!

Here's my reasoning:

1) I hate paying for MMO's. A 1 time payment seems good
2) GW2, Torchlight 2, Borderlands 2 all coming out soon. If I wait too long the lifetime sub might be gone
3) You guys have made this game sound AMAZING. I've watched a couple livestreams and thought it looked really cool
4) Profit? Wait .. that doesn't work here

To be fair, when I first played in the beta I had the impression that it felt a little clunky. After discussing it on here, however, I think I figured out that a large part of that impression was due to the somewhat odd character animations. Of course it also doesn't help that it tends to take a while to realize just how open the skill system is. Early on I felt like I was just clicking the same two buttons over and over again with no real thought. Of course after my somewhat negative first impression the game kept burrowing into the back of my mind and I ended up pre-ordering it anyway.

I've checked around on the forums and found a GM post saying they have not yet announced a cutoff date for lifetime. But as I recall from a post several months ago, it's supposed to be available for a little while after launch. I'd guess you have until the end of the month.

I learned about the free weekend on Sunday afternoon and, in hind sight, that was a good thing. I would be feeling much better now if the servers had closed at midnight PST like they were supposed to. And now I have the account page open again... Dammit.

I tried soloing normal Polaris last night to get weapon skins and I made it about half way through. I think I need to work on my leechy/healy builds a bit. I was able to just DPS the first two bosses down but the 3rd boss was a challenge for me. I'm pretty sure I can trivialize the 3rd boss with a different build but I've got to unlock the leech passives to make it work so I guess it's finally time to pick up an AR.

I'm going to be farming Polaris (or as much of it as I can farm) for weapon skins over the next week so if anyone wants to tag along they are more than welcome. I would like to try to beat the instance solo or with a duo. I think my wife and I may try to duo it tonite but if anyone wants to come along just send a shout out.

This was a fun idea, I went through this whole instance solo. I'm just wearing quest greens and a couple of blue world drops.

Used this build and about 60/40 DPS/Heal gear:
