Just quickly flicked it on, current score is 133 - 66 at the moment, the Americans are just taking the mick and enjoying themselves, on the verge of disrespectful levels.

What exactly would you expect them to do? They have backups in and they're taking jump shots. Outside of sitting on the floor, you can't really sandbag more than that.

Sorry, should have made myself clear, I didn't mean their actions on the court, I meant all the piss taking the players on the bench were doing.

Watching the US Women's soccer team v New Zealand this morning. U S A!

US with a disappointing 16th finish in Men's Trampoline qualifying.

Why the hell is there an Olympic sport called Trampoline?

And why did I just watch it during the women's soccer halftime?

Here is an interesting article. The links in the article are also interesting to read. Getty images should at least be naming the players in the images. I would be interested in knowing if it was the choice of the player or the coach in what they wear. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/02/beach-volleyball-photos-focus-on-womens-body-parts-not-athletics_n_1734372.html?1343946330&ncid=edlinkusaolp00000009

This year marks the first Olympic games where female beach volleyball teams were not required to wear bikinis

Mostly the players. They talked about the clothing during yesterday's matches some. US team wore long sleeve shirts on one of their night matches on Mon or so because it was so chilly out. A couple of teams have been wearing some full body suits.

The #1 team, Walsh/May, had to take an injury timeout a couple of nights ago because one of them had her toes freezing. They had to bring out warm water and treat her foot, and they have bought heating strips for timeouts for the rest of the tournament.

Long story short, English weather sucks.

Yes, but frozen toes? Really? It's way above freezing at night! Wimp!

Holy crap. Huge upset in beach volleyball. Rogers and Dalhausser, defending gold medalists, lost in the quarters to the Italians.

The velodrome is where it is at tonight, 2 Golds for Britain tonight. What a great dew days we are having.

Brilliant goal by Canada women off the corner kick. 1-0 over the host country so far, with the prize of course being defeat by the US on Mon.

EDIT: Uh oh, now up 2-0 on a devastating free kick.

You mean when they were cheering for their teammates? No wonder the Brits aren't good at anything. They're too worried about offending the other teams sensibilities to have fun. Sitting there stone-faced like you're bored off you're ass is far more disrespectful to the other team. Although based on the reaction of you Queen at the opening ceremony, I can't say I'm shocked that you might feel differently.

Looks like Phelps got another gold in the 100m fly and set a new record. Finally I remembered to watch swimming live on the PC instead of hearing about it later and waiting for the silly primetime broadcast. That's his last solo race and so last solo medal. Still a relay or two he might have a shot at I think.

Missy Franklin also set a record with gold in the 200m backstroke, but I missed that one.

Canada is gonna be SERIOUSLY pissed if Sidney LeRoux (Yowza! ) scores against them.

When I saw it, they were doing more than cheering on their team mates, by messing about in the crowd and generally acting like a group of American sprinters and that has worked out well for them in the last 2 Olympics. (the sprinters, not the basketball players)
As for Brits not being good at anything, I assume NBC isn't bothering to show the cycling, rowing, shooting, canoeing then? all of which we have won golds in, plus the silvers we have won and bronzes in the Judo, Swimming, eventing and gymnatsics.
Oh and I look forward to articles about Katie Ledecky doping tomorrow since she took almost 6 seconds off her PB in less than a month in the pool tonight.

Now now, no need to point your gun at all of America just because one guy has no manners when it comes to respecting one's host. Jesus, he's got no pants, how well do you think his mind works?

Yeah most of us Americans are cheering for the hosts, at least when we're not facing them. And then we're still hoping you guys get silver.

It was very sad watching the British women's team lose in overtime in basketball today. Just another reason to dislike the French.

I've been trying to find ways to explain to my daughter that our ancestors (on my side, anyway) come from England, whenever we watch an event featuring the Brits. She's not quite three yet; I'm not sure she understands. Hell, I'm not sure she understands countries, period.

This gif is the most gif.

I tried finding recorded video of the men's cycling
, or any cycling, on NBC's site. The best I found was a ~3.5-minute video most of which was commentary on the 20 seconds of race footage. Am I just fail or is there no way to see events that are finished in their near-entirety?

Also, I'm happy when Americans do well, and happy when anyone else does well. Agnel was absolutely fascinating as was China in the US-China water polo prelim I watched. Most of the NBC coverage is obviously skewed to events in which the US is stronger, which is lamentable but consistent. We've been hoping to see boxing but missed it. And judo, where a woman from a town 'round here won gold.

Can't wait for the running events.

If you've signed up on the web site with your cable provider info, you ought to be able to watch the full replays.

Jeez. USA men scared by Lithuania in basketball. They were actually down 2 with about 6 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Back to back 3s by Paul and Lebron helped, and then right after that a steal and fast break dunk, got them a 5 point cushion, and they win by 7.

They were supposed to be on cruise until Argentina in the elimination round. Hopefully this helped them get it together. Better to be scared in the pool play.

I bet there was pressure to avoid running up the score. It's likely there was some negative feedback about it and the attitude.

I don't mean to be creepy, but Jessica Ennis.

Oh no. GB is down 1-0 in men's soccer elimination. Only 30 min in, but not good for the home team.

EDIT: Tied! Penalty shot after a handball in the box.

Serbia is manhandling the US men in water polo. I'm impressed by water polo players athleticism, and the sport's not half-bad to watch.

I love Jessica Ennis. She monstered the Heptathlon. That is just a ridiculous amount of work for a single medal. Damehood, now, your Majesty. Stop messing about with Daniel Craig and get on with it.

I don't think that was the case. I watched the whole game and the US just played in starts and jumps rather than making a consistent effort, which is always a problem with all-star sorts of teams. Lithuania also shot the lights out.

Pretty sure he was joking.

Of course that's what or is for, so we don't have to guess at tone.

Antanas Kavilaskaus from the Lithuanian team played college ball at Texas A&M!

I was serious, but I know the all-star teams can be, in the Jobsian, a bag of hurt.

GB and S.Korea tied in soccer. Holy crap this is a long match. I can't change the channel yet.
