So the indie bundles are back on sale. That's something, right?

That's pretty damn awesome. For those who missed them, bundle #5 is an absolute-must for everyone. #3 is also incredible, and #4 and #6 aren't far behind.

The rest are a bit iffy, in my opinion, but still good values.

To each their own. I couldn't care less about anything in #5. But I would say these are worth a look:

#1 is good, except Cave Story has been free since it released 8 or 10 yrs ago. So, I keep wondering why people keep buying this. It is a fun game, though. The Baconing is the third Deathspank, but free of EA.
#8 - Hoard is great fun. Wish I had a chance to play with people, but I'm too lazy to send out Steam group events. Swords and Soldiers was pretty fun to play once when I got it back on the Wii.

And Ron Gilbert!

I'd say Bundle XI is a bit of a wash. 2 of the games are supposed to be good/interesting (Goo and Waveform) and two that are basically duds (Hydrophobia and Dino Beatdown). No idea about Star Ruler.

ARgh....Steam...put all these games into the bargin bin and let me make my own bundle of 4-6 of them for 9.99. I want a few from each bundle. Somethings in some bundles I already own, some I couldn't care less to own.

Let's call it the Indie "make your own bundle" bundle...bundle.

That would actually be very cool. And might be enough to make me buy some of these games. I won't be getting anything that is available currently.

That is how I do most of my beer these days, love the "Make your own 6 pack" deals.

I think steam could use a few GOG style "the more you buy, the bigger the discount" deals. That would probably be simpler, allows people to mix and match but they don't have to fit tight criteria - what if they want 4 or 6 games but the bundle is for 5 games, etc.

Yeah I have at least one, and as many as 3, game(s) from every pack except for 7.

I own most of the things in these bundles. I'll second the sentiment about Cave Story... In my opinion, I don't think they have added anything really significant in Cave Story+ and I actually prefer the old pixel art in Doukutsu. Still a fun play, but if it hadn't come in a humble bundle, I wouldn't own it again on Steam.

The steam version actually comes with a setting to turn on the old graphics and sound, but the REAL downside is that all the dialog has changed from the original japanese fan translation, and most everyone agrees that it is quite inferior. (Probably the worst is they have Balrog shout "oh yeah!" instead of his iconic "huzzah!"). Luckily you can find ways to fix this yourself -- you just have to copy a few files around if I remember correctly.

I'm a die-hard Cave Story fan, so I did like the plus version because it came with steam achievements, side levels, and harder difficulties. But unless you are looking for any excuse to play through this game *yet* again, you probably will be just fine downloading the original free version that has been available for quite some time.

Are we allowed to use this thread for trading of leftover gifts? I purchased too many copies of two games (friends already owned them) and would love to trade them in case somebody is in a similar situation. I'd gift them, but nobody on my friends list wants them.

That being said, my friends list is way too small. So friend me up, prease! :mrgreen?

Ah, the ole' pony trap.

Er, honey trap.

I don't see why not. Just post what you have and maybe what you're looking for.

Nope, the 5 copies of Ponymon: gotta antagonize 'em all are reserved for special and unsuspecting acquaintances. Or people not buying raffle tickets at PenCon.

The games in question are Plain Sight and Borderlands GOTY - got 2 spare copies each.

And Ron Gilbert!

I'm guessing that's a good thing. I've heard the name a lot, but never connected who he is or anything.

Creator of Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island, and SCUMM. He has cred, but maybe not as good at humour as Tim Schafer.

Does anyone want to start placing bets on when this thread dies?

Gilbert's new game looks like it has promise.

More generally, there's a Steam Trading thread for things like that. I still have my extra copy of Saint's Row: The Third Franchise Pack there, for example (he says, with all the subtlety of a giant purple wobbly bat-thing).

I can't believe it. I've been Zombie Gifted.

Thanks to Mantid, All Orcs will Die...

Ditto! What the heck, Mantid? Just got an email that I've been Zombie Gifted SPAZ. Thank you sir!

Me too! Thank you mantid for Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet!

It's a zombie outbreak! I guess Mantid couldn't wait for the Christmas sale!

Thanks for Dear Esther, man!

Mantid handing out games like delicious candy! Cave Story+? Don't mind if I do... thank ye sir!

Deus Ex:HR? Thanks, Mantid!

Mantid got me too, with F3AR.

What a sneaky little bug, saving gifts for after the sale.

Mantid is Patient Zero for the SteamZombieOcalypse! I got gifted a copy of Eufloria, which is eating my brains as we speak. Thanks, oh jumpy preying one!

A big thanks to everyone who gifted me games:
The Void (Archangel)
Binding of Isaac Collection (Toddland)
Stacking (Bonus Eruptus)
Recettear (Minarchist)
Far Cry 2 (Bonus Eruptus)
Gal Civ II (a friend not on GWJ)
Space Pirates And Zombies (furtivespy)
Secret of the Magic Crystals (furtivespy)

And to those who received my gifts:
Portal 2 (momgamer, passed along I think, though)
Waves (Strangeblades)
Star Wars: KOTOR (Mixolyde)
Puzzle Agent (duckilama)
Thief: Deadly Shadows (Dimmerswitch)
Thief: Gold (Archangel)
Amnesia (Bonus Eruptus)

And to me, for receiving my gifts to myself, which I also appreciated:
The Blackwell Bundle
CKII DLC Combo
SpaceChem

Yay summer sale!! Looking back, I don't think I've bought any games since the winter sale. I guess that's a good thing, as I have way too many good games to play already :-). Just playing through the Witcher (1) right now.

Wow, Mantid is going nuts! Thanks for Stacking!

Is this a precursor to a barrage of Magic Crystal gifts from Mantid? Is he trying to lull us into a sense of complacency?

Thanks to all who were generous enough to keep me rolling in games for the next six months.

Manach - Secret of the Magic Crystals (aka ponycorns for everyone!)
Prozac - Magicka
Greg - Borderlands GOTY

And of course Minarchist, for holding the poetry contest.

I have to say, it's quite satisfying to look at the "Friends Recently Bought" list in the Steam store and knowing that all of those are your own doing.
