I can't turn down free dinner but I'm a little meh on a game that is going to take 4-6 hours and involve people telling other people what to do for the sake of the team.

I think you have a fair point. I have a friend who has been looking to play his for a long time. It is a tough game to get enough people together to play, even tougher to get them to stick around for.

I'm down for a night of Arkham Horror the next time I'm in the vicinity... I think it's doable with 4 people.

Are you planning on coming out in the next couple of months?

Possibly. My mom just moved from the big ol' family house in downtown Flint to an apartment out in Fenton(? the sticks, at least) so before the end of the year I need to come retrieve a few things and install some shotgun traps make sure everything's cool at the old place.

Cool, well we can definitely try to plan something around your visit again, then!

I also bought a game called Eclipse. It's pretty great, it's basically TI lite.

Dammit! I've been trying to get my hands on that game since I heard about it on some podcast (maybe Three Moves Ahead?). I had it pre-ordered through BoardGameGeek but a few weeks ago my order was cancelled Now it seems like the price for the game has skyrocketed to $90+ :(

No worries, you'll be at Pencon and so will it. Only reason I was able to get a copy for a reasonable price was because I had an order in months in advance. I'm sure they'll roll out another printing pretty quickly this time.

Woohoo! Yeah, I'll definitely be checking that out at Pencon.

So after consulting with my lady love, August 4 around 4 PM would be the night of our dinner/nerdery party.

I will supply the food, some soft drinks. But BYOB.

On the table from me would be Cards Against Humanity, Last Night on Earth, and Running Charades.

Likely fair would be some chicken, burgers, a sub, and munchies.

PM me for my address.

Sounds good to me!

Cool, cool.

You subtle thread bump master.

Hey hey! Thought I already posted in here already, but I'm good for the 4th as well

So, I figured I would float this out there. There is to be Shakespeare in the Park that weekend in Royal Oak. A Mid Summer Night's Dream that Saturday at 1 PM.

I am planning on going, anyway. But is there interest among you folks?

I will pass on that.

Yeah, I'm going to have to take a pass on that one as well. However, as an update to the get together later on (will it still be at 4pm if you go to Royal Oak?) the wife will actually be making it out as well, so we've got one more person

Yeah it will be 4 PM. After talking with my fiancee, we will do the play on Sunday.

for future get-togethers/gaming purposes...

I'm sitting on collections of varying sizes of the Fantasy Flight Call of Cthulhu, Game of Thrones, and Warhammer LCGs. I haven't played the stuff for a long time and have been off and on the fence about just dumping it all. Rather than doing this, I'd love to get a small group of people who are interested in playing from time to time, regardless of experience level. Anyone ever been curious about these, have experience playing them and wanna play more, etc? Happy to offer my stuff up for deckbuilding and whatnot so people don't have to buy their own.

I'm down to try any boardgame once. I have zero experience with that type of game, though! We should probably pick one out ahead of time so that I can do some research.

Also, aside from KG's thing this weekend, I propose we get together on Saturday August 18th at noon at Collectible Treasures & Mythical Realms in Farmington.

Sound good?

I should have probably waited on posting that - my next 3 weekends are kaput (the one you mentioned for Gencon). How about Aug 25?

Aug 25th and September 1st are no-go for me.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I'd be able to make Aug 18th either--fairly sure I could swing the 25th though.

D: Well maybe we could do both dates, or the 11th, even? Even if only myself and 2-3 others can make it for the 18th I'd still like to go. That's enough to get a single game or anything we would want to play going.

Yeah, the 11th wouldn't work for me, unfortunately. It's my birthday and I'll be in Toronto

Sounds like it'd have to be the 1st? Or if other people can make the 18th I'll just sit this one out--no worries here.

I can't make the 1st. I say we just try to do the 18th and the 25th and whomever can make it can make it?

Oh der, I forgot you said you couldn't make the 1st. I know it's all of 4 posts up, but I can't be bothered to look that far

Yeah, that sounds like a plan to just keep it open for 18th/25th. The owner was good with us just coming in and playing, yeah? No need to set up anything beforehand with him?

Yeah, but we might want to call ahead and see if there's another group already claiming it.

25th sounds like a plan. I'll bring card stuff and if people are interested we can throw it.

Yeah, I am down for that as well. Had a lot of fun last time.

also, for anyone current bathing in IoS summoner wars that's never played the real deal, i've got the master set i can bring along as well.

So what's the scoop for tomorrow?

Well, KG was a capable host and I got to know him and the missus for two hours before anyone else showed up last night! Watched Raising Arizona and Clerks, and played Cards Against Humanity before I had to bounce on out. Boo to everyone who couldn't make it!

We're going to try and do the 18th and the 25th. It looks like we'll definitely have enough people for the 25th judging by previous comments in this thread but I'm also trying to scrounge up people for the 18th so that I can play some boardgames too.
