Maybe an image of Stan, but with either our avatars, or our forum names in the thought bubble?

That way, we still keep that 'anonymous benefactor' cache thing going, but we are also representing the community here. Letting young Liam know that there are still a place in this world for people that appreciate each other for their minds and their views above all else (for those of us not lucky enough to have made it to an S&T somewhere).

I like it. I'd like to add one more thing: I want to post the avatar, screen name, and location of the contributors. I think it would be good for him to see that people all over the world contributed to this idea.

Does he have a girlfriend I could sit uncomfortably close to?

Get a world map and put little avatars at all the locations?

Maybe make a Google map and have everyone upload their avatar for their pin.

That would be cute! What if someone did a photoshop job with an interesting looking map, avatars with white borders (so they look sorta like Polaroids) and little colored pins? That's a bit of a tall order. It would be cool, though.

White polaroids makes me think of victim patterns and serial killers. But that´s just me though.

Haaha! Scratch that idea. Too much work, anyways.

The Google Map idea would work. Is that difficult to set up?

Wait! First let me change my avatar to something horribly inappropriate for children.

I reserve the right to judiciously use black bars on this map.

A picture of yourself?

I've always wondered why they cry.

The chloroform burns their eyes.

If he gets a bit into the wanting to program bit, maybe How to Think Like a Computer Scientist - Learning with Python is a nice book to delve deeper into the topic. It is used in classes and is more about the thought processes behind all that fancy stuff and you learn all that while learning Python.
Might be a book for a bit later, but i just wanted to throw that out there. C:

HOORAY!

Are you going to build it together, or build it and present it? There are cool/bad things about both routes I suppose.

WOOT!
That's a wonderful sight! Nice mouse pad too

I thought that he could learn a lot from building it with me. He watched me install my new video card last year, and was asking lots of questions and seemed fascinated.

I was wondering the same thing myself.

Now, you will, of course, teach him about vengeance before he gets any products called Vengeance, right?

Updated the OP to reflect what's been done. Thank you all so much! Thursday evening, Liam gets to find out just how amazing this community is.

Have you thought of trying to live streaming the revel?

There is, but I'm holding off purchasing anything else until after the trip to Ravenwood. I want to make sure Owen doesn't have to come out of pocket for gas and food.
