The Darksiders 2® Catch-All

Unbelievable!

Not only did they violate us with making a mobile app, they did us one further and tied it to facebook. This is the ultimate insult. The one great game of the summer and they've F'd it up. The day before my birthday no less. THANKS THQ, go rot in hell where you stole Death from.

This deserves the same snail mail hate letter that I had to send to arenanet and funcom.

Is that you, Lard?

I'm going to take that as making an intentional joke out of usual Internet hyperbole.

I would have too if there weren't precedent. "Evil"... C'mon.

The TRUE evil is that there is no Darksiders app for Android.

I've given up misguided notions of waiting for the Wii U version and preordered it for 360 from the THQ shop. That nets me all the DLC for free (other retail preorders are just getting the first DLC), and more importantly helps out THQ. They need it, and they make some really cool games. If you're planning to drop $6o on this regardless I'd suggest doing so as well.

Great lead. Just what I was looking for...thanks for the link.

That mobile app looks like a cute, if not a bit misguided, stab at viral marketing like I Love Bees or something. I don't see any harm in it.

It feels like release date is really sneaking up at just 3 weeks away.

Wonder if THQ has plans for an epic 1+ hour demo like in the first game? (Not that I'll need a demo to convince me to buy.)

Normally I love getting demos in order to get a taste of a game, but this one I think I'll wait until I unwrap the shrink wrap on the plastic and slide it into my PS3 like some kind of sexual euphemism.

If I had a smart phone and cared about this thing, I'd be glad that I have a 2nd facebook account I created specifically for game stuff. Mostly so I could play Robot Rising, so far.

Wow THQ's online store's (Digital River actually) shipping options suck. You can get it free and slow or varying levels of rape if you want the game in a timely manner. Maybe I have just been spoiled by Amazon but $13.45 for UPS Ground (3-7 Business Days) is kind of sh*tty. Wish there was a day one digital option for Xbox 360.

There's an asterisk at the bottom that says they'll do everything in their power to get preorders to us on day one if we order within ten days of 8/14. I'm pretty sure the shipping estimates are more relevant to stuff that's ordered after release.

** Shipping note: While THQ makes every effort to ensure release-date delivery of pre-ordered products, we cannot guarantee delivery times. Orders shipped to U.S. mainland addresses should be placed a minimum of ten business days prior to release date.

Oh so giving you a choice of carrier and price is just a way to ass rape you even more on pre-orders then

Giant Bomb Quick Look EX!

I was hoping it'd be longer, alas.

Yeah, I'm on a media lock-down. Evidently the first real gameplay trailer was recently released. I didn't watch it.

I must feel surprise!

I had to stop half-way through the Quick Look as the devs were giving too much away.

Thanks for the heads-up, I'd figured as much would happen. Good companion piece for when it does come out, though. This, Borderlands 2, and Dishonored I want to know near nothing about.

I don't think they gave much away. A couple of minor spoilers maybe but nothing as bad as "He is a ghost too."

Wait... wait, Death is a ghost!? That makes so much sense! Who reaps the reaper?

Oh sorry that wasn't a Darksiders spolier

In other news: GAMEPLAY TRAILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh wait my bad. Some site was reporting it like it was just released and I didn't watch it before posting it here to see that it has actually been out a while.

Does this have a release date yet? Yeah, I´m a filthy skimmer...

EDIT: Wow, even on the same page. 8/14 then. Good. Can´t wait.

I was thinking more about awesome new game mechanics that I had no idea about.

Great info for fence-sitters I guess, but I would have preferred to be surprised by the new mid-game tools/abilities.

I had heard about most of them already so seeing them in action doesn't bother me.

I now want Possessed items (or items that work like them) in every loot game ever though. Would be really cool in Borderlands for instance.

Do you guys think a Darksiders III would work with Famine or Pestilence/Conquest? It seems to me the 2 Horsemen more fitting for a videogame interpretation have already been used in the previous titles, obviously and logically. I´m not so sure a 3rd one with Famine or a 4th one with Pestilence/Conquest would work just as well. For some reason, in my eyes, they seem more as supporting role characters, than protagonists. Thoughts?

I would guess the third would bring all Four of them out to some sort of epic final showdown to restore The Balance. If I was writing it, anyways.

Apocalypse of Two, with War and Death bro-ing it up. Fist bumps abound!

Yes, pretty much what I thought. Those other 2 couldn´t hold up a title on their own. Chest bumps!

There is no rule saying they have to hold to the biblical interpretations of each of the horsemen.

I would love to see a game staring the female one (in the animation at the beginning of the first game it show silhouettes of all four and one is female) just because well you know. War and Death both look to be mostly up close fighters so they could do more of a ranged focus with one of them and make the other one more of a stealth type and really change up the gameplay style (which is of course the cool type of thing that the publisher would never allow).

Seeing as how the future of Vigil and even THQ to some extent hang on how well this game does we may be counting our chickens a bit too soon.

Was reading Wikipedia and Conquest could very well work as a ranged character based on:

I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, "Come and see!" I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest. - Revelations 6:1

Really not sure about Famine unless he/she was a magic focused character.

With customizable weapons and horses!

Little research turns up that the other two horsemen are Strife and Fury. Fury being, as Rykin said, a female. Concept art is online, done back when DS1 was made.

But yeah, we´re getting ahead of ourselves, although it is fun to imagine. I think having a stealth-like horseman could be really cool and it could really change up and mix the gameplay.

I too like the Conquest interpretation. But what I would do, is having him/her be a 5th horseman, and we learn the "true" story as how he was kicked out by his 4 brothers. I´ve read a lot about it, and many portray Conquest as the bringer of deceit. You could make a chronological order as such:

With DECEIT, comes WAR, which brings FAMINE, that will cause PESTILENCE, that will ultimately result in DEATH.

Mentioned this a while ago in the Darksiders thread, but in an interview Vigil stated that their dream all along is to have a co-op game with all the Horsemen, which they hope to do in 3. On next-gen, oh man, that'd be a treat. They also mentioned the last two were envisioned as warriors that main a pistol and a whip.

Schwing!
