What I'm wondering is, did Valve decide to add the community choice sale after Gog.com had a voting based sales campaign? And were the 8-hour flash sales designed so that the last thing people did before going to bed and the first thing they did after getting out of bed was check the sales page?
I'm happy I was abroad during most of the sale and unable to complete any of my transactions.
I know that's how it worked for me. When I went to bed, I would check the sales, and when I got up in the morning, I didn't have to wait long to see a different sale. It worked out to where I didn't really miss anything. Thankfully, there wasn't really much that I wanted during the sale that I hadn't already played.
Oh, I bought enough (read: way too much). I just miss the fast paced, 100-posts an hour, ponycorn filled tomfoolery of the past couple of weeks, even the build up and "the will it/won't it start today!"
the steam homepage just looks so.... boring

Somewhere in the world there is a person who just got a new PC this weekend, and joined Steam for the first time 5 minutes after the sale ended. I weep for that person.
I am contemplating removing the Steam app from my phone. Since I don't have to check multiple times per day it seems kind of useless. But then again, I feel like I'm abandoning a good friend.

I thought that about that, too. However, the chat function still works on the app, so at the very least I can chat with people if I'm ever sitting around bored and not at the computer. So there's that, I guess
My gosh, between sales, and gifts and contests, I think I'm am stocked on games for, I dunno...eternity.
I still find all of you gentlemen ponycorners to be disturbing however. I'm very worried about you. In that 1950's furrowed brow, "What is the Beaver doing?" sort of way.
That's right, your ponycorn habits have made me wear an apron and cook a pot roast. I hope you're all happy. If this keeps going, I'll have to make cookies. And then bread. When will the madness end, I ask you? When. Will. The. Madness. End.

Toasted marshmallows for everyone! YAY!

I feel the same way. I installed it to keep track. But with the sale over I feel a sense of loss. Like something good has left. Sad panda. Gained so many new friends though!
This thread has the highest post count of all of my tracked threads... I feel I was part of a thing here.

I'm still waiting for Q-Stone to accept Metro 2033 i gave him last year on his birthday!
Does that still show up in your gift inventory? Look:

I would like some cookies.
I bred my second level 5 pony last night!

I tried breeding my second pony last night, and it didn't go well. Apparently I'm never going to be allowed at the horse track again.
I woke up this morning and quickly realized that there wouldn't be a flurry of new deals to check, or games to vote on. I miss the excitement of compulsively refreshing the sale and the thread to see what everyone was up to.

Hell, I'm compulsively refreshing anyway in hopes that there will still be a 50% off lurking somewhere in the menus.
To say it again: come the Winter Sale, there's almost nothing left that I want to buy. Years of Steam Sales have done their job!

Famous last words.
So uh.. L4D2 is at a 75% sale. That's uh.. that's somethin'.
To say it again: come the Winter Sale, there's almost nothing left that I want to buy. Years of Steam Sales have done their job!
So far I've established a pretty firm trend of buying in the summer sale and skipping the winter sales. Around the holidays I am more focused on spending money on gifts and such. In the summer time I like to stock up. I skipped the last winter sale entirely, which made this one all the more fun as I filled out a ton of gaps in my gaming collection.
The one thing that has become pretty long in the tooth are the publisher packs. I can see those being good if you're totally new to Steam, or if you have a lot of physical media and want a digital version, but for me I've already bought most everything I wanted in the pack and the few new games are not worth the expenditure for all that wasted potential. Now if I could gift out all the duplicates...

I bought my first pack this past sale; but Stardock coming to Steam was a pretty new thing, so it made sense that I didn't have any of their games on my Steam account.
This thread has like 100 more PAGES than the previous 2 Steam sale threads. Guess that's what delaying an expected sale does. Going back to 2010, well Certis shut down the summer sale thread 4 posts in and there were 2 Holiday threads.

I know, right? I started that summer thread, 'cause I thought it would be a great idea. Certis shut it down 'cause he hates libertarians.
That's alright, though. In death, my idea has become more powerful than he could have ever imagined! MuwahahahahAHAHAAHAHA!
MWAHAHAHA!

Yeah it's still in my gift inventory. In fact, when I looked last week (though it doesn't appear now and I can't remember where I saw the option) I had the possibility of taking it back!!!
Certis shut it down 'cause he hates libertarians. :P
Certis hates reading? What sort of monster hates reading??
As promised, I have purchased the Demigod 4-pack for $10. Maq, Natus, and Chumpy are my partners in crime, although it looks like Chumpy already bought his own. So I have one extra copy; post or PM me if you're interested.
Buh-bye, GameStop (spit) Impulse!

Certis can't read. He throws everything into a text-to-speech engine designed to sound like Morgan Freeman. Cause hey, why not?

I would never read anything ever again.

Arkham City was bought to take up the last $13 and change out of my wallet right before going to bed on the last day of the sale. It cleared me out to fifty five cents, then the devious folks put up Saints Row the Third and all the DLC for thirteen bucks and change. Curse them.
You guys were really great. Thank you very much. Archangel was right about Dragon Age Origin really being a great game. It is strangely touching on a lot of my nostalgia from the 90s, as well.
