Saints Row The Third Catch-All

Just bought this with all the DLC. Made my first character and gave him the zombie voice. Can't stop laughing.

The zombie voice is hilarious but I wouldn't recommend it for a first character. You're basically giving up everything your character says, including story and plot points, as well as the occasional mission instruction.

Good to know. Thanks for the heads up! I only have an hour invested so starting over is no biggie. Going to miss the garbled grunts and moans though.

It's great on a second playthrough.

No need to start over if you've made it this far.
Head to a surgeon and get your new voice cut in for around $400. Make him style your hair while you're there.

Yeah, Rezzy suggested it before I could. $400 to change anything about your character's voice, body, or hair. Even gender!

The best part is when you go in for plastic surgery just to learn how to give someone a thumbs up instead of a chest bump.

Haha, yeah, I forgot you can change your cheer/insult gestures too.

Oh wow. I didn't realize you could change that stuff in surgery! Good to know since a second playthrough is happening soonish.

We should just rename this thread to "I can't believe I waited this long to play Saints Row The Third"

All I can say is if you are new to the game you are in for a treat. Easily the most fun I've had playing a game in long time.

Wasn't there a prediction at the end of last year that this will probably be a strong contender for 2012 Community GOTY?

I believe I put in the predictions thread that this was my pick to win GWJ's Community 2012 Game of 2013.

So when your little metre starts filling up and wave after wave of bad guy come after you, it's just best to get the hell to your hideout yes? Standing and shooting hasn't really worked out that well for me after the 50th car or so

Any business you own will do. Calling in in a tank or a VTOL or something could provide another alternative.

Yeah I tried that bit. I drove my shiny purple tank out of my hideout and proceeded to just destroy a crapload of bad dudes. Much fun was had.

When I got to the later stages of the game, I would intentionally fill my meter just outside one of my places then shoot cops with mollusk launcher and call in air strikes until I eventually got bored.

When you gain enough respect you can unlock some new abilities like Police Forgiveness, Gang Forgiveness, and Mayor's Favor (which does both). Then you can call those up whenever you want to get rid of the heat. They're free to use once you've unlocked them and operate on a cooldown. Alternatively, you can try avoiding contact with hostiles for a while and your wanted level will go down slowly over time (I'm pretty sure this works at all levels under 5 but it might take a while).

Keep in mind that your want level won't drop below a certain level if you're in a restricted area, and instantly jumps up if you get into a restricted vehicle you don't own, like a tank or VTOL.

So if you want to steal an armed transport helicopter, you'd want to go to the National Guard base (restricted area), jump in the helicopter (restricted vehicle), fly outside the restricted area, pop off Police Forgiveness, then go save your helicopter at your helipad. Police Forgiveness also works during chop shop missions, provided you call while inside the target vehicle.

So I traded in my PS3 copy of SR to get it on PC + DLC, I missed the last sale, so hopefully it drops down 75% again before the end of the sale.

Probably the odd ball here but I picked this up for the 360 last night. Anyone still playing it on the consoles?

Looks like they acknowledged the problems this game has on AMD GPUs. I had to go down to DirectX 9 to get the game to run without dropping down to sub 10 fps every couple of minutes on some pretty good hardware.

Hmm, odd. I have and AMD gpu and mine runs flawlessly on DX10.

Weird, I have a XFX 6850 and have had zero problems.

I just gave the game to TheWalt as a birthday present, and I'm on 360 as well, although I've finished it.

I'm still playing it...it's largely been my go-to gaming diversion when I get tired of tonally serious games. Mostly been running activities, really need to go back and finish the main story missions. If you're interested in some multiplayer, my XBL tag is ianunderhill.

Just tested again, and it's worse in DirectX 11 than before. It now has some kind of weird screen door effect on the textures. DirectX 9 continues to run just fine.

This is with a 2600K @ 4.4Ghz, 6950 (6970 shaders unlocked), and 16GB RAM.

In DirectX 11, I'll run at 60fps, then all of a sudden every couple of minutes it will go to 2 fps, then back to normal. DirectX 9 it stays fine the whole time.

Looking at their boards back when I bought it, my situation wasn't that uncommon. And it also seemed to not be only AMD at the time.

Mine also runs fine, I'm using a Radeon Mobility 5870 (ASUS g73jh-a2). I haven't done a lot of free roaming yet, only did the first three missions so far, but didn't experience any random slowdown.

We need more pictures of crazy stuff in this thread

Huh, I've had zero problems running it with a 5770.
