The first inaugural GWJ youth gaming scholarship, COMPLETE!

Trichy, I just sent you a PM.

EDIT: 2 actually, stupid memory is failing me.

So...yeah, it's dusty in here. Very dusty, indeed.

I'm so happy to be a part of this community - a new PC and a much needed break are awesome gifts!

Oh man, how'd I miss this thread, another GWJ moment of awesomeness.

I'd be up for donating a game. If, you know, everyone hasn't already given him all the good stuff!

You know, it's funny, this is actually the easiest person to Steam gift. Pretty much all GWJers have 200+ games in their library, so it can be tricky to gift. Even excluding all the mature games, you still have quite a lot to choose from for Liam.

You know, I've been on this site for 7-8 years or something like that; and I have always been so proud to be a member of a community that does things like this. This is an exemplary example, but not the only time we've come together to take care of our own. I love you guys.

Edit to say that I've sent a friend request, I have some stuff queued up that my son (who is about the same age) loves, so I hope Liam will enjoy playing them too.

Dropped the keyboard and mouse in the USPS yesterday. Should be there in a week. Don't sweat the shipping, just be sure to install the drivers. The mouse especially has some buttons that require it.

Also I note that someone had already got him Portal, so I sent him a copy of Peggle instead.

Good thinking, I'm surprised that wasn't already taken care of after Bookworm Adventures and PvZ.

Sending a copy of Jamestown over since that's a great game + soundtrack.

EDIT: And tossed the Amanita collection in as well. Yay Flash sales.

Aww man! I was gonna gift him that one! Steam-hausered!

Might I suggest keeping an eye on the Double Fine pack in case that goes back on sale?

I was thinking World of Goo or Torchlight.

Steam friend request sent! (from kaybeen)

Just had a quick look over the OP again.

That is a quality library of games for young Liam. Well done community. Plenty to inspire and engage a young mind. Actually, all of it is pretty effing amazing. I kind of get the feeling this is going to be a big deal for that proto-Goodjer and I couldn't feel more honored to be involved. Thank you Trichy for allowing us to help.

Shalalm Baskur to us all. We did Stan proud. I am genuinely humbled to be a part of this place, and to know that people of this calibre exist.

Trichy, without going into detail, I wish like hell I had had an Uncle like you when I was a kid. You are good people. Gotta go, just got a little dusty in here.

Damn I love this community.

Now the only question is how is Liam ever going to decide what to play first?

Dusty double post... Move along, nothing to see here.

I have to second the earlier reccommendation for scratch. My 7 yr old and I tried it out last night and within minutes he was stacking instructions and making things happen. Very awesome way to be introduced to programming concepts.

Now the only question is how is Liam ever going to decide what to play first?

As soon as he asks himself that question, he's really one of us

World of Goo sounds like another fine choice. I think Torchlight is already covered.

Hey, I see Portal 2 but not the original, is that correct? Just want to double check before I pick that one up for me. That is, as soon as my friend request is accepted COUGH COUGH.

Haaaaha... at least will have a computer. That way, he can join GWJ and start posting in the pile thread.

With all these games, we might give him the wrong incentive here. When is he ever going to start programming?

Heheh... Well, a few years of research can't hurt, right?

Oh god. I'm going to have to explain to my sister why her 12-year-old son is referring to girls in his class as bnery chubbbby fchicks and continuously asking if space is an issue.

I like the thread title change! I'm totally down for doing this yearly around the time of the Steam summer sale. I doubt it'll be hard to find deserving candidates.

I sent him my spare copies of Cthulhu Saves the World, and Breath of Death VII. And I hope he enjoys the new computer.

At his age I would have been happy with more than two gigabytes of hard drive space, and I can't imagine how i would have felt about a computer like this.

And I will donate FFVII when it comes to steam. Called it!

i already tried that, portal 2 comes with portal 1

Triple post!?

Double post

Wow. Yet another amazing reason that GWJ is a beacon of light in the vast darkness that is the Internet. I would be a bit more verbose, but I have something stuck in my eye. Dust or something.

Has anyone seen Indie Game the movie? Would it be appropriate for someone his age? That could be some good inspiration.

I think there is some swearing. Personally, I don't think that's a big deal, but I actually don't really think it is appropriate for kids just because it's really geared for older people who have been playing games a long time. I don't really know if it would inspire a kid. Anyways, that's just an opinion from someone without kids. I could be totally wrong.
