Secret of the Magic Crystals Catch-All

I thought we couldn't name our ponies...

We can't, so far as I have yet to discover.

But now I have margarita in my sinuses -- f*cker.

Further oddity: M0nkey's gifting of this game to me? Yeah, that's my 200th Steam game. Hmm...

Has anyone figured out how to increase the intelligence stat on their ponycorn? This is the only stat I don't know how to move, and I assume it's what's keeping me from leveling that mare up now that she's all way above 100 on the others.

Also, Scotch goes rather well with this game.

So are people poking fun because it's shovelware, a game about unicorns or a kid's RPG or something inbetween? Because the premise seems interesting enough.

It's not a bad game. I'm really not poking fun at it. They did a decent job with it.

The strategy/reading/economics are probably beyond the target audience, which is unfortunate because they will need help.

The DDR style training (which is a small part of the game) starts out fine, but ramps up in difficulty fast.

The tutorial is alright, but I had to figure out much of the mechanics on my own.

In short, I planned on having my 6yo daughter play this, but I'm not convinced she wouldn't be totally confused by it. Perhaps I'll try it on her this weekend.

My single biggest complaint: pegasi should have big giant wings, not little sh*t on their ankles.

Such is the fantastic magic of the ponycorns.

Best. Thread. Ever.

What are you guys going to do once everyone on GWJ owns SotMC?

FYI you don't need to click or drag when brushing your ponycorns. Just waving the mouse over the right body part gets the job done.

I'm finding the mechanics pretty opaque right now. The tutorial is really just a few dialog boxes that keep reappearing, which is pretty annoying.

Our simian overlord is busy playing the game. He isn't just the president of this little cult, he's also a client.

Why do I own this game now? What's going on?

IT was the best way I could think of to thank you for this amazing site and the podcast. So, take that for what it is.

Doing quests seems to be the only way to acquire materials for making magical horseshoes.

Should I spoiler that?

There's way too many [GWJ] tags popping up and stating that they are playing Secret of the Magic Crystals. Remember, if you stare into the abyss, eventually the abyss will stare back. And suddenly you'll be trying to breed unicorns. Just saying... it's a short leap.

Yeah... words. I don't have any.

Yeah but if I level my ponies enough, I'll have flying horses and the abyss will hold no power over me. I will float beyond its reach. Unless I hit the wrong key and my pony stumbles. Then maybe the abyss has a shot.

Sigged!

I don't know what my neighbor is doing with my horse, but everytime I send her (she's called Anice) over to 'pull a plough', she come back unwell.

If I find out he's calling his d*ck a plough, I'll be very angry.

Yeah...I just wanted to mention that I had the pony game before the pony game was cool. So. There. Now, it's like totally popular, and like, everybody is playing it or whatev, but like, I totes knew that game first. (Exasperated, overwrought sigh, accompanied by eye rolling.)

I'll give $50 to the first GWJer who gets all the achievements.

Just kidding. I wouldn't be surprised if someone actually did.

But you do have sparkle ponies... Now

*sigh* I knew I shouldn't have said anything.

You're an evil man.. er, monkey... er, pony... whatever.

I'm tempted to add this to my pile, sort of like a virtual sword of Damocles threatening to destroy my gaming time if I fail to spend it wisely on other, worthier games.

Since I last looked at the forums: 66 posts in the Steam Sale thread, 129 new in this one. This madness can not continue.

Can it?

I hope so. This is too delightful to see end.

Yes! Yes it does! I was enjoying a nice glass of Glenlivet while training Ardleigh, my pegasus.
Speaking of which:

Amen! What weird sort of mercurial pegasi are these?

I might need to have this inflicted on me pick this up. All my friends are jumping off a bridge, I may as well join them.

So in proper form, I have gifted this to more people. We'll make it game of the year yet and no one outside goodjers will understand how that happened.

On another note, my stable which had been giving me cute unicorns, graceful pegasi (?), and burly Ice Steeds has now given me THIS terrifying beast...

Apparently it's a filly. Yikes! Don't make her mad.

Despite there being several million Steam users, I somehow feel strangely confident that it was us and only us who made the game appear in the last spot, #21, of top sellers under 5 euros (dollars).

Holy pony crap, dude.

It's up to spot 15! Could we make it number 1?

Friends don't let friends buy themselves Secret of the Magic Crystal. They attack each other with it instead.

So I started up the game and popped over to the stables to check out my first horse.

Anice the Unicorn. That's a good name.

A while later, I bought a second horse. What sort of magical sparkly steed will this one be?

Nantres the horrifying death horse. Oh, apparently he's actually a Demon Steed. That's nice. Well, obviously my next step is to breed these two creatures and see what sort of ungodly offspring is produced when a demonic horse mates with a sparkly unicorn. What will it be?

Apparently it's a unicorn named Chedva. I guess Unicorn is a dominant genetic magical horse trait or something. Chedva, Nantres, and Anice. What a delightful family of horse-things with names that are totally normal and not weird at all.
