Secret of the Magic Crystals Catch-All

I captured my first 8 minutes with the game on video last night. I'm suck at work now but will try to get that uploaded soon.

What the hell guys? 5 pages? The freakin' Hero Academy catch-all has only six and this thread is catching up?

Agreed

Heck, when I read the thread title I thought this had to be some kind of Final Fantasy spinoff rpg or something, especially with the page count so high already.

Instead, it's more like... WTF?

Wow this thread is kinda like one of those horror movies where you watch the video or whatever and the spirit comes to kill you. Only in this case if you post in this thread the game appears in your OHMYGODWHATHAVEIDONE?!!

Actually, it's more like Candyman in that you have to stare at your monitor and say Ponycorn, ponycorn, ponycorn and then... OHMYGODWHATHAVEIDONE?!!

Well I don't think I will blog the entire stable story. If my math is right, I need to take care of 31 of the buggers to get my Level 5 horny horse. [16x L1 + 8x L2 + 4x L3 + 2x L4 + 1x L5] That would make for an encyclopedia and at 5 hours just to get my first L3 (7 crtitters) this is going to take a while.

There's a whole economics sub game buried in here.
Do you invest in unlocking the potions and horseshoes early?
Which buildings do you upgrade? What order?
What items do you buy for the stables?
When do you sell the creatures vs what you lose in healing them.

Yeah, I know... I'm WAY over-thinking this.

Boy is sick today. Had a little time to kill. Glad it made folks smile. Even if I skipped the part about the new bucket.

I was planning on doing that, but holy crap does this seem like it would be absolutely mind numbing to watch someone else play. As garion (I think) said earlier, this game is an absolute slog. Graphics are fantastic though!

This is the only case where I think GWJ needs a banner advertisement. Please make this happen whoever is admin-ing at the moment.

Beautiful, LilCodger. That brought a tear to my eye. Now I must know: what happened with the bucket?

Tuffalo, you are one terrifying guy.

Oh dear. I've just been Gifted.

CptDomano, Grandfather would be proud. I shall endeavor to post my students' reactions from class next week.

Ponycorn sounds like a kind of food.

Yeah, I couldn't let the possibility of this game being analyzed seriously get passed up.

Although...

I think someone might already be lost to us in SotMC analysys. Make sure this doesn't happen to your class

Also, I apparently have missed out on this one so far. I'm sure it's just a matter of time though.

Hay! That AAR has me thinking maybe I should have picked this up.

You guys can facepalm at will.

Hah! That is awesome :D

It is indeed... the question is whether it was his choice or that of another! :F

I'm guessing it was in a bundle I got. I also regularly forget I own Delve Deeper. Never even installed it.

But now the magic pony is installed.
Maybe I can get farther in this than I did in CK2.

*looks at library*

*sniffs*

Toddland just sent me a copy of Secret of the Magic Crystals. It can't be worse than Flower.

Heh. I'm so looking forward to the "games we've been playing" segment on the next Conference Call now...

You're Welcome.

You guys are crazy.

OMG! I'm going to have to give in and get this thing, aren't I? If nothing else, it looks like something that would be fun to run between turns in CivV.

We're 3/4ths (or 3/5ths?) of the way there!

Sadly that AAR has actually gotten me a teensy bit tempted to try the game out.

Only a teensy bit mind you, but still...

Ugh double-posting fail!

We awoke in the morning in much the same situation we went to bed. Mostly, the owners of a small, run-down horse farm and no money to do much of anything with it.

We began taking serious stock of our surroundings. Eventually we stumbled upon an old horse wagon out by the gate. Grandpa took these ponycorns somewhere?

Cautiously, I began to feel out the locals. As it turns out, they are all very aware of Grandpa's "special" horses. They are aware of them because THEY'RE ALL HORRIBLE GAMBLING ADDICTS! They are absolutely addicted to horse racing. Like the Enlglish love footy, the Pakistanis love cricket, Americans love themselves, and the Japanese love whatever they call that weird sh*t they put on computers, these people are all that and triple for the pony races!

And yet somehow, in this unheard of region, ALL OF THEIR HORSES SUCK! As pathetic as Katelyn seems to be, with a good rest she can win every race. She can race every day, sometimes multiple times a day, and bring home a significant amount in wagers on each race! Daddy's little glue factory just became Daddy's little cash cow.

I don't know where these people make their money, but their pockets seem to be limitless. We need to tap into this to fund all the research we'll need.

So I take the proceeds from Katelyn's last few races and expand the well. We'll need more water and feed if we're to expand our stable.

I use the last of our funds purchasing a colt, purportedly from the northern regions known for strong horses. He arrives, but I'm decidedly unimpressed. This guy, named Kalila, seems like less of a horse than Katelyn. Since it worked the last time, I grab a grooming implement and approach.

Nothing. DAMMIT! NOTHING! I'm just about to storm off when:

YES! It's working! Cash cow ponycorn #2 here I ...

WHAT THE MOTHERF&$KING HELL IS THAT!?!?! My sister and I stand, slack jawed, staring at this creature of fully mobile ice. I can feel the cold emanating from the giant ice stallion in front of me. I am suddenly wondering how much of this my Grandfather knew about.

We quickly train Kalila (who unexpectedly likes sunny weather), and soon have our two -- um -- "horses" winning every race in town. They're running races simultaneously on different course. No one in town seems phased by the GIANT F#@KING HORSE MADE OF ICE. As long as they keep paying up, I'm not going to ask too many questions. We use the next influx of funds to expand our training facilities and expand the well again. The influx of gambling winnings shows no sign of slowing.

My sister suggests that instead of buying our next colt of common stock, we attempt to breed our ponycorn with our ice monstrosity. I really want no part of this freak-show, but I have no grounds to refuse. It will save us money, and we're already the owners of f*^king magic horses.

A few days later while I'm arranging the next days races, I am called into the stable. There is a colt there. It looks -- normal.

IMAGE(http://i.imgur.com/HgslI.jpg)

What the hell. "How bad can it be?" I ask, thinking to myself that I'm likely to be consumed in a giant fireball of horse.

Net result: ponycorn. I can't believe I'm relieved that this colt born of Mary Shelly circumstances is only a magic ponycorn.

We take him out to the training grounds ... Oh my! He's stronger than his parents!

We need to expand our operations. Perhaps the neighboring towns like the ponies as well.

That night, I dreamed of selling fantastically strong and nimble ice horses to the Russians. My magic horses were more versatile and valuable than tanks to them. It was a weird dream, but I suspect I know what Grandpa started here.

Brilliant
